Job 9
1 Then Job answered and said,
Y respondió Job, y dijo:
2 I know [it is] so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?
Ciertamente yo conozco que es así: ¿y como se justificará el hombre con Dios?
3 If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand.
Si quisiere contender con él, no le podrá responder a una cosa de mil.
4 [He is] wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened [himself] against him, and hath prospered?
El es sabio de corazón, y fuerte de fuerza: ¿quién fue duro contra él, y quedó en paz?
5 Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger.
Que arranca los montes con su furor, y no conocen quien los trastornó.
6 Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.
Que remueve la tierra de su lugar, y hace temblar sus columnas.
7 Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars.
Que manda al sol, y no sale; y a las estrellas sella.
8 Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.
El que solo extiende los cielos, y anda sobre las alturas de la mar.
9 Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.
El que hizo el Arcturo, y el Orión y las Pléyades, y los lugares secretos del mediodía.
10 Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.
El que hace grandes cosas, e incomprensibles, y maravillosas sin número.
11 Lo, he goeth by me, and I see [him] not: he passeth on also, but I perceive him not.
He aquí, que él pasará delante de mí, y yo no le veré; pasará, y no le entenderé.
12 Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say unto him, What doest thou?
He aquí, arrebatará: ¿quién le hará restituir? ¿Quién le dirá: Qué haces?
13 [If] God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him.
Dios no tornará atrás su ira, y debajo de él se encorvan los que ayudan a la soberbia.
14 How much less shall I answer him, [and] choose out my words [to reason] with him?
¿Cuánto menos le responderé yo, y hablaré con él palabras estudiadas?
15 Whom, though I were righteous, [yet] would I not answer, [but] I would make supplication to my judge.
Que aunque yo sea justo, no responderé: antes habré de rogar a mi juez.
16 If I had called, and he had answered me; [yet] would I not believe that he had hearkened unto my voice.
Que si yo le invocase, y él me respondiese, aun no creeré que haya escuchado mi voz.
17 For he breaketh me with a tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without cause.
Porque me ha quebrado con tempestad, y ha aumentado mis heridas sin causa.
18 He will not suffer me to take my breath, but filleth me with bitterness.
Que aun no me ha concedido que tome mi aliento, mas háme hartado de amarguras.
19 If [I speak] of strength, lo, [he is] strong: and if of judgment, who shall set me a time [to plead]?
Si habláremos de su poder, fuerte ciertamente es: si de su juicio, ¿quién me lo emplazará?
20 If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: [if I say], I [am] perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.
Si yo me justificare, mi boca me condenará: si me predicare perfecto, él me hará inicuo.
21 [Though] I [were] perfect, [yet] would I not know my soul: I would despise my life.
Si yo me predicare acabado, no conozco mi alma: condenaré mi vida.
22 This [is] one [thing], therefore I said [it], He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked.
Una cosa resta, es a saber, que yo diga: Al perfecto y al impío, él los consume.
23 If the scourge slay suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent.
Si es azote, mate de presto, él se rie de la tentación de los inocentes.
24 The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, [and] who [is] he?
La tierra es entregada en manos de los impíos, y él cubre el rostro de sus jueces. Sino es él que lo hace, ¿dónde está? ¿quién es?
25 Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good.
Mis días fueron más ligeros que un correo: huyeron, y nunca vieron bien.
26 They are passed away as the swift ships: as the eagle [that] hasteth to the prey.
Pasaron con los navíos de Ebeh: o como el águila que se abate a la comida.
27 If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my heaviness, and comfort [myself: ]
Si digo: Olvidaré mi queja, dejaré mi saña, y esforzarme he:
28 I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent.
Temo todos mis trabajos: sé que no me perdonarás.
29 [If] I be wicked, why then labour I in vain?
Si yo soy impío, ¿para que trabajaré en vano?
30 If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean;
Aunque me lave con aguas de nieve, y aunque limpie mis manos con la misma limpieza;
31 Yet shalt thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothes shall abhor me.
Aun me hundirás en la huesa: y mis propios vestidos me abominarán.
32 For [he is] not a man, as I [am, that] I should answer him, [and] we should come together in judgment.
Porque no es hombre como yo, para que yo le responda, y vengamos juntamente a juicio.
33 Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, [that] might lay his hand upon us both.
No hay entre nosotros árbitro que ponga su mano sobre nosotros ambos.
34 Let him take his rod away from me, and let not his fear terrify me:
Quite de sobre mí su verdugo, y su terror no me perturbe;
35 [Then] would I speak, and not fear him; but [it is] not so with me.
Y hablaré, y no le temeré: porque así no estoy conmigo.
