< Job 39 >

1 Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? [or] canst thou mark when the hinds do calve?
“Wee nĩũũĩ rĩrĩa mbũri cia irĩma-inĩ iciaraga? Wee nĩwĩroragĩra rĩrĩa thwariga ĩgũciara kaana kayo?
2 Canst thou number the months [that] they fulfil? or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?
Wee nĩũtaraga mĩeri ĩrĩa ciikaraga ingĩgaaciara? Nĩũũĩ hĩndĩ ĩrĩa iciaraga?
3 They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, they cast out their sorrows.
Ciĩthunaga igaciara twana twacio; ruo rwacio rwa gũciara rũgathira.
4 Their young ones are in good liking, they grow up with corn; they go forth, and return not unto them.
Twana twacio twagĩraga mwĩrĩ, tũgakũra tũrĩ na hinya o kũu gĩthaka-inĩ; tũkinyaga ihinda rĩa kwehera na tũticookaga.
5 Who hath sent out the wild ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass?
“Nũũ warekereirie njagĩ ĩthiiage ĩtarĩ mũũria? Nũũ wamĩohorire mĩhĩndo?
6 Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings.
Ndaamĩheire werũ ũtuĩke mũciĩ wayo, naguo bũrũri wa cumbĩ ũtuĩke gĩtũũro kĩayo.
7 He scorneth the multitude of the city, neither regardeth he the crying of the driver.
Ĩthekagĩrĩra inegene rĩrĩ thĩinĩ wa itũũra; ndĩiguaga mũkaĩrĩrio wa mũtwarithia.
8 The range of the mountains [is] his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.
Ĩrimũthagĩra irĩma-inĩ ĩgĩetha gwa kũrĩa, ĩkahaara kahuti o gothe karuru.
9 Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?
“Mbogo ya njamba-rĩ, yetĩkĩra gũgũtungata? No ĩkindĩrie mũharatĩ-inĩ waku ũtukũ?
10 Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?
No ũhote kũmĩoha matandĩko ĩrĩme na mũraũ? No ĩkuume thuutha ituamba-inĩ ĩkĩrĩmaga na mũraũ?
11 Wilt thou trust him, because his strength [is] great? or wilt thou leave thy labour to him?
No ũmĩĩhoke nĩ ũndũ atĩ ĩrĩ na hinya mũingĩ? No ũmĩtigĩre wĩra waku mũritũ ĩrutage?
12 Wilt thou believe him, that he will bring home thy seed, and gather [it into] thy barn?
No ũmĩĩhoke ĩkũrehere ngano yaku, na ĩmĩcookanĩrĩrie kĩhuhĩro-inĩ gĩaku?
13 [Gavest thou] the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?
“Mathagu ma nyaga mabatabataga nĩ gũkena, no matingĩgerekanio na mathagu na njoya cia njũũ.
14 Which leaveth her eggs in the earth, and warmeth them in dust,
Ĩrekagĩria matumbĩ mayo tĩĩri-inĩ na ĩkamatiga mũthanga-inĩ magwate ũrugarĩ,
15 And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.
ĩtegwĩciiria atĩ no makinywo na magũrũ makue, kana marangwo nĩ nyamũ ya gĩthaka.
16 She is hardened against her young ones, as though [they were] not hers: her labour is in vain without fear;
Ĩĩkaga ciana ciayo ũũru ta itarĩ ciayo; ndĩmakaga atĩ wĩra wayo no ũtuĩke wa tũhũ,
17 Because God hath deprived her of wisdom, neither hath he imparted to her understanding.
nĩgũkorwo Ngai ndaamĩheire ũũgĩ kana akĩmĩhe igai rĩa mwĩciirĩrie mwega.
18 What time she lifteth up herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider.
No rĩrĩ, rĩrĩa yatambũrũkia mathagu ĩhanyũke, ĩthekagĩrĩra mbarathi na mũmĩhaici.
19 Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?
“Wee nĩwe ũheaga mbarathi hinya wayo, kana ũkamĩhumba ngingo na mũreera?
20 Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils [is] terrible.
Wee nĩwe ũtũmaga ĩrũũge ta ngigĩ, ĩkahahũra andũ na mũtiihĩre wayo wa mwĩtĩĩo?
21 He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in [his] strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men.
Ĩhuragia thĩ na ũcamba ĩgĩkenagĩra hinya wayo, ĩkaguthũka ĩtoonyete mbaara-inĩ.
22 He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.
Ĩthekagĩrĩra guoya, ĩtarĩ ũndũ ĩngĩtigĩra; ndĩmakagio nĩ rũhiũ rwa njora.
23 The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield.
Thiaka wa mũmĩhaici ũbocabocaga mbaru-inĩ ciayo, hamwe na itimũ rĩkũhenia na mĩcengi.
24 He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that [it is] the sound of the trumpet.
Irĩĩaga tĩĩri nĩ ũrũme; ndĩngĩrũgama ĩkindĩirie hĩndĩ ĩrĩa karumbeta kagamba.
25 He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.
26 Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, [and] stretch her wings toward the south?
“Rwĩgĩ-rĩ, nĩwe ũrũhotithagia kũmbũka na ũũgĩ waku, kana gũtambũrũkia mathagu maruo rwerekeire mwena wa gũthini?
27 Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?
Nderi nĩwe ũmĩathaga yũmbũke na igũrũ, na ĩkeyakĩra gĩtara kĩayo igũrũ mũno?
28 She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.
Ĩtũũraga kĩharũrũka-inĩ kĩa ihiga, na nĩ ho ĩraaraga; rũhĩa-inĩ rwa ihiga iraaya mũno nĩ ho mwĩgitio wayo.
29 From thence she seeketh the prey, [and] her eyes behold afar off.
Ĩrĩ hau nĩguo ĩcaragĩria gĩa kũrĩa; maitho mayo moonaga irio irĩ o kũraya.
30 Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain [are], there [is] she.
Tũcui twayo tũnyuuaga thakame, na handũ harĩa arĩa moragĩtwo marĩ, hau nĩ ho ĩkoragwo.”
