Job 31
1 I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?
੧“ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਨੇਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਕੁਆਰੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੱਖ ਮਟਕਾਵਾਂ?
2 For what portion of God [is there] from above? and [what] inheritance of the Almighty from on high?
੨ਕਿਹੜਾ ਭਾਗ ਉੱਪਰੋਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ, ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਮਿਰਾਸ ਉਚਿਆਈ ਤੋਂ ਸਰਬ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਮਾਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ?
3 [Is] not destruction to the wicked? and a strange [punishment] to the workers of iniquity?
੩ਕੀ ਇਹ ਕੁਧਰਮੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਅਤੇ ਕੁਕਰਮੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਨਾਸ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ?
4 Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?
੪ਕੀ ਉਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਰਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਭ ਕਦਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਿਣਦਾ?
5 If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot hath hasted to deceit;
੫“ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲਿਆ ਹੋਵਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੈਰ ਧੋਖੇ ਵੱਲ ਦੌੜਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ, -
6 Let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know mine integrity.
੬(ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਧਰਮ ਤੁਲਾ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੋਲੇ, ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਮੇਰੀ ਖਰਿਆਈ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣੇ)
7 If my step hath turned out of the way, and mine heart walked after mine eyes, and if any blot hath cleaved to mine hands;
੭ਜੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਦਮ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪੈ ਗਏ ਹੋਣ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਦਿਲ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਚੱਲਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਦਾਗ਼ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੋਵੇ,
8 [Then] let me sow, and let another eat; yea, let my offspring be rooted out.
੮ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਬੀਜਾਂ ਪਰ ਦੂਜਾ ਖਾਵੇ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੈਦਾਵਾਰ ਪੁੱਟੀ ਜਾਵੇ!
9 If mine heart have been deceived by a woman, or [if] I have laid wait at my neighbour’s door;
੯“ਜੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਦਿਲ ਕਿਸੇ ਔਰਤ ਤੇ ਮੋਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਦੇ ਬੂਹੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਘਾਤ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੋਵਾਂ,
10 [Then] let my wife grind unto another, and let others bow down upon her.
੧੦ਤਦ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਦੂਜੇ ਲਈ ਪੀਹੇ, ਅਤੇ ਪਰਾਏ ਪੁਰਖ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਕਰਨ!
11 For this [is] an heinous crime; yea, it [is] an iniquity [to be punished by] the judges.
੧੧ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਅੱਤ ਬੁਰਾ ਦੋਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨਿਆਂਈਆਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦੇਣ ਯੋਗ ਬਦੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ!
12 For it [is] a fire [that] consumeth to destruction, and would root out all mine increase.
੧੨ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਅੱਗ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਸੜਨ ਤੱਕ ਭਸਮ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਸਗੋਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੈਦਾਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਜੜ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਾੜ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ!
13 If I did despise the cause of my manservant or of my maidservant, when they contended with me;
੧੩“ਜਦ ਮੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਜਾਂ ਦਾਸੀ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੱਕ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ,
14 What then shall I do when God riseth up? and when he visiteth, what shall I answer him?
੧੪ਤਾਂ ਜਦ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉੱਠੇ ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਕੀ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਲਵੇ ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਕੀ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇਵਾਂਗਾ?
15 Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?
੧੫ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੁੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਣਾਇਆ, ਕੀ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਾਇਆ? ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕੋ ਹੀ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਗਰਭ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਚਿਆ?
16 If I have withheld the poor from [their] desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail;
੧੬“ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਗ਼ਰੀਬਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਅਤੇ ਵਿਧਵਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਨਿਰਾਸ਼ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ ਹੋਣ,
17 Or have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless hath not eaten thereof;
੧੭ਜਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਬੁਰਕੀ ਇਕੱਲਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਖਾਧੀ ਹੋਵੇ, ਅਤੇ ਯਤੀਮ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਨਾ ਖਾਧਾ ਹੋਵੇ, -
18 (For from my youth he was brought up with me, as [with] a father, and I have guided her from my mother’s womb; )
੧੮ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੀ ਜੁਆਨੀ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਲਿਆ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਿਤਾ ਨਾਲ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਵਿਧਵਾ ਦੀ ਦੇਖਭਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
19 If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or any poor without covering;
੧੯ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਦੇ ਮਰਦੇ, ਜਾਂ ਕੰਗਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਓੜਨੇ ਦੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ,
20 If his loins have not blessed me, and [if] he were [not] warmed with the fleece of my sheep;
੨੦ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਭੇਡਾਂ ਦੀ ਉੱਨ ਦੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹੋਣ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਰਕਤ ਨਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਗਰਮ ਹੋਇਆ,
21 If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, when I saw my help in the gate:
੨੧ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਯਤੀਮ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ, ਇਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਫਾਟਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਹਾਇਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ,
22 [Then] let mine arm fall from my shoulder blade, and mine arm be broken from the bone.
੨੨ਤਦ ਮੇਰਾ ਮੌਰ ਮੋਢੇ ਤੋਂ ਡਿੱਗ ਜਾਵੇ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਬਾਂਹ ਜੋੜ ਤੋਂ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਵੇ!
23 For destruction [from] God [was] a terror to me, and by reason of his highness I could not endure.
੨੩ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਡਰਾਉਂਦੀ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਪਰਤਾਪ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਮੈਂ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਸੀ।
24 If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, [Thou art] my confidence;
੨੪“ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਸੋਨੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਸ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ, ਜਾਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਕਿ ਕੁੰਦਨ ਸੋਨੇ ਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਹੈ, -
25 If I rejoiced because my wealth [was] great, and because mine hand had gotten much;
੨੫ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਮਨਾਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਕਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਧਨ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਹੱਥ ਨੇ ਬਥੇਰਾ ਕਮਾਇਆ! -
26 If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon walking [in] brightness;
੨੬ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਸੂਰਜ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਚਮਕਦਾ ਸੀ, ਜਾਂ ਚੰਦ ਨੂੰ ਜਦ ਉਹ ਸ਼ਾਨ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲਦਾ ਸੀ,
27 And my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand:
੨੭ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਦਿਲ ਚੁੱਪਕੇ ਮੋਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੰਮ ਲਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ,
28 This also [were] an iniquity [to be punished by] the judge: for I should have denied the God [that is] above.
੨੮ਤਦ ਇਹ ਨਿਆਂਈਆਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦੇਣ ਜੋਗ ਬਦੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਸਵਰਗੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
29 If I rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him:
੨੯“ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਤੋਂ ਅਨੰਦ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਮੁਸੀਬਤ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਈ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਮਨਾਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ,
30 Neither have I suffered my mouth to sin by wishing a curse to his soul.
੩੦(ਸਗੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਨ ਨਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਸਰਾਪ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਮੰਗਾਂ)
31 If the men of my tabernacle said not, Oh that we had of his flesh! we cannot be satisfied.
੩੧ਜੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੰਬੂਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਨਾ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ, ਕਿ ਕੌਣ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਮਾਸ ਤੋਂ ਨਾ ਰੱਜਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ?
32 The stranger did not lodge in the street: [but] I opened my doors to the traveller.
੩੨(ਪਰਦੇਸੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੜਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਤ ਕੱਟਣੀ ਨਾ ਪਈ, ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਰਾਹੀ ਲਈ ਖੋਲ੍ਹਦਾ ਸੀ) -
33 If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom:
੩੩ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਦਮ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਲੁਕਾਇਆ ਹੋਵੇ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਦੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੀਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੁਕਾਈ ਹੋਵੇ,
34 Did I fear a great multitude, or did the contempt of families terrify me, that I kept silence, [and] went not out of the door?
੩੪ਇਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਭੀੜ ਤੋਂ ਭੈਅ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਘਰਾਣਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਡਰਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਚੁੱਪ ਵੱਟ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਾ ਨਿੱਕਲਿਆ,
35 Oh that one would hear me! behold, my desire [is, that] the Almighty would answer me, and [that] mine adversary had written a book.
੩੫“ਕਾਸ਼ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੁਣਦਾ! ਵੇਖੋ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਫ਼ਾਈ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਸਰਬ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਮਾਨ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇਵੇ! ਕਾਸ਼ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ-ਨਾਮੇ ਦੀ ਲਿਖਤ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ!
36 Surely I would take it upon my shoulder, [and] bind it [as] a crown to me.
੩੬ਨਿਸੰਗ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੋਢੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੁੱਕਦਾ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਗੜੀ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਦਾ,
37 I would declare unto him the number of my steps; as a prince would I go near unto him.
੩੭ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕਦਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਿਸਾਬ ਦਿੰਦਾ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੇਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸ਼ਾਸਕ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ।
38 If my land cry against me, or that the furrows likewise thereof complain;
੩੮“ਜੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਦੁਹਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਵੇ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਿਆੜ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਰੋਏ ਹੋਣ,
39 If I have eaten the fruits thereof without money, or have caused the owners thereof to lose their life:
੩੯ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਦੀ ਉਪਜ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਜ਼ਦੂਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਖਾਧਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਜਾਂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਲਈ ਹੋਵੇ,
40 Let thistles grow instead of wheat, and cockle instead of barley. The words of Job are ended.
੪੦ਤਦ ਕਣਕ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਝਾੜੀਆਂ, ਅਤੇ ਜੌਂ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਜੰਗਲੀ ਘਾਹ ਉੱਗੇ।” ਅੱਯੂਬ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸਮਾਪਤ ਹੋਈਆਂ।
