Job 31
1 I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?
೧“ಕನ್ಯೆಯನ್ನು ಕೆಟ್ಟದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಂದ ನೋಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ನನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳೊಡನೆ ನಿಬಂಧನೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ,
2 For what portion of God [is there] from above? and [what] inheritance of the Almighty from on high?
೨ದೇವರು ಮೇಲಣ ಲೋಕದಿಂದ ಯಾವ ಪಾಲನ್ನು ವಿಧಿಸುವನು, ಸರ್ವಶಕ್ತನಾದ ದೇವರು ಉನ್ನತಾಕಾಶದಿಂದ ಕೊಡುವ ಬಾಧ್ಯತೆ ಯಾವುದು?
3 [Is] not destruction to the wicked? and a strange [punishment] to the workers of iniquity?
೩ಆತನು ಅನ್ಯಾಯಗಾರರಿಗೆ ವಿಪತ್ತನ್ನೂ, ಕೆಡುಕರಿಗೆ ಉಪದ್ರವವನ್ನೂ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾನಲ್ಲವೆ?
4 Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?
೪ಆತನೇ ನನ್ನ ನಡತೆಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ನನ್ನ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಎಣಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಎಂದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆನು.
5 If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot hath hasted to deceit;
೫ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ನಾನು ಕಪಟತನದ ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದು ಮೋಸವನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿ ಓಡಿದರೆ,
6 Let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know mine integrity.
೬ದೇವರು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನ್ಯಾಯವಾದ ತ್ರಾಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ತೂಗಿ, ನನ್ನ ಯಥಾರ್ಥತ್ವವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿ!
7 If my step hath turned out of the way, and mine heart walked after mine eyes, and if any blot hath cleaved to mine hands;
೭ನನ್ನ ನಡತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಾರಿತಪ್ಪಿದ್ದರೆ, ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯವು ಕಂಡಕಂಡದ್ದನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿದ್ದರೆ, ನನ್ನ ಕೈಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲ್ಮಷವು ಅಂಟಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರೆ,
8 [Then] let me sow, and let another eat; yea, let my offspring be rooted out.
೮ನಾನು ಬಿತ್ತಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನು ಉಣ್ಣಲಿ, ನನ್ನ ಬೆಳೆಯು ನಿರ್ಮೂಲವಾಗಲಿ!
9 If mine heart have been deceived by a woman, or [if] I have laid wait at my neighbour’s door;
೯ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ನನ್ನ ಹೃದಯವು ಪರಸ್ತ್ರೀಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೋಹಗೊಂಡು, ನಾನು ನೆರೆಯವನ ಬಾಗಿಲಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಂಚು ಹಾಕಿದ್ದರೆ,
10 [Then] let my wife grind unto another, and let others bow down upon her.
೧೦ನನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯು ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ಧಾನ್ಯ ಬೀಸುವ ದಾಸಿಯಾಗಲಿ, ಇತರರು ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸಂಗಮಿಸಲಿ!
11 For this [is] an heinous crime; yea, it [is] an iniquity [to be punished by] the judges.
೧೧ನಾನು ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರೆ ಅದು ದುಷ್ಕಾರ್ಯವೇ ಸರಿ, ಆ ಅಪರಾಧವು ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳ ದಂಡನೆಗೆ ಯೋಗ್ಯವಾದದ್ದು.
12 For it [is] a fire [that] consumeth to destruction, and would root out all mine increase.
೧೨ಅದು ನಾಶ ಲೋಕದವರೆಗೂ ನುಂಗುವ ಬೆಂಕಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದು, ನನ್ನ ಆದಾಯವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಿರ್ಮೂಲಮಾಡುತ್ತಿತ್ತು.
13 If I did despise the cause of my manservant or of my maidservant, when they contended with me;
೧೩ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ನನಗೂ, ನನ್ನ ದಾಸನಿಗೂ, ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ದಾಸಿಗೂ ವ್ಯಾಜ್ಯವಾದಾಗ, ನಾನು ಅವರ ನ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನು ಅಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಮಾಡಿದ್ದರೆ
14 What then shall I do when God riseth up? and when he visiteth, what shall I answer him?
೧೪ದೇವರು ನ್ಯಾಯಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಗೆ ಏಳುವಾಗ ನಾನು ಏನು ಮಾಡೆನು? ಆತನು ವಿಚಾರಿಸುವಾಗ ಯಾವ ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟೇನು?
15 Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?
೧೫ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಗರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದಾತನೇ ಅವನನ್ನೂ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲವೋ? ಆತನೊಬ್ಬನೇ ನಮ್ಮಿಬ್ಬರನ್ನೂ ಗರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ರೂಪಿಸಿದನಲ್ಲವೇ.
16 If I have withheld the poor from [their] desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail;
೧೬ನಾನು ಬಡವರ ಇಷ್ಟವನ್ನು ಭಂಗಪಡಿಸಿದೆನೋ? ಅಥವಾ ವಿಧವೆಯ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನು ಮಂಕಾಗಿಸಿದೆನೋ?
17 Or have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless hath not eaten thereof;
೧೭ಅಥವಾ ನನಗಿರುವ ತುತ್ತು ಅನ್ನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅನಾಥರಿಗೆ ಏನೂ ಕೊಡದೆ, ನಾನೊಬ್ಬನೇ ತಿಂದೆನೋ?
18 (For from my youth he was brought up with me, as [with] a father, and I have guided her from my mother’s womb; )
೧೮ಹಾಗಲ್ಲ, ನಾನು ಬಾಲ್ಯದಿಂದಲೂ ತಂದೆಯ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅನಾಥನನ್ನು ಸಾಕುತ್ತಾ, ನಾನು ಹುಟ್ಟಿದಂದಿನಿಂದಲು ಅನಾಥಳಿಗೆ ದಾರಿತೋರಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದೇನಷ್ಟೆ.
19 If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or any poor without covering;
೧೯ಬಟ್ಟೆಯಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಅಳಿದುಹೋಗುವವನನ್ನೂ, ಹೊದಿಕೆಯಿಲ್ಲದ ಬಡವನನ್ನೂ ನಾನು ಕಂಡಾಗೆಲ್ಲಾ,
20 If his loins have not blessed me, and [if] he were [not] warmed with the fleece of my sheep;
೨೦ಅವರ ಸೊಂಟವು ನನ್ನ ಕುರಿಗಳ ಉಣ್ಣೆಯಿಂದ ಬೆಚ್ಚಗಾಗಿ, ನಾನು ಅವರಿಂದ ಹರಸಲ್ಪಡಲಿಲ್ಲವೋ?
21 If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, when I saw my help in the gate:
೨೧ನ್ಯಾಯಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ಸಹಾಯ ಉಂಟೆಂದು, ಅನಾಥನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೈಮಾಡಿದೆನೋ?
22 [Then] let mine arm fall from my shoulder blade, and mine arm be broken from the bone.
೨೨ಹೀಗಿದ್ದರೆ ನನ್ನ ಹೆಗಲಿನ ಕೀಲು ತಪ್ಪಲಿ, ತೋಳು ಸಂದಿನಿಂದ ಮುರಿದು ಬೀಳಲಿ.
23 For destruction [from] God [was] a terror to me, and by reason of his highness I could not endure.
೨೩ದೇವರಿಂದ ಬರುವ ವಿಪತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹೆದರಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೆನಷ್ಟೆ, ಆತನ ಪ್ರಭಾವದ ದೆಸೆಯಿಂದ ನಾನು ಇಂಥ ಕೃತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.
24 If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, [Thou art] my confidence;
೨೪ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ನಾನು ಬಂಗಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಭರವಸವಿಟ್ಟು, ಅಪರಂಜಿಗೆ, ‘ನಿನ್ನನ್ನೇ ನಂಬಿದ್ದೇನೆ’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದರೆ,
25 If I rejoiced because my wealth [was] great, and because mine hand had gotten much;
೨೫ನನ್ನ ಆಸ್ತಿ ದೊಡ್ಡದೆಂದೂ, ನನ್ನ ಕೈಯೇ ಬಹು ಸಂಪತ್ತನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಿತೆಂದೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಳಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರೆ,
26 If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon walking [in] brightness;
೨೬ಸೂರ್ಯನು ಪ್ರಕಾಶಿಸುವುದನ್ನಾಗಲಿ, ಚಂದ್ರನು ಕಳೆತುಂಬಿದವನಾಗಿ ಚಲಿಸುವುದನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ನಾನು ನೋಡಿದಾಗ,
27 And my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand:
೨೭ಹೃದಯವು ಮರುಳುಗೊಂಡು, ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಬಾಯಿ ಮುದ್ದಾಡಿದ್ದರೆ,
28 This also [were] an iniquity [to be punished by] the judge: for I should have denied the God [that is] above.
೨೮ಇದು ಸಹ ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳ ದಂಡನೆಗೆ ಯೋಗ್ಯವಾದದ್ದು, ಮೇಲಣ ಲೋಕದ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ದ್ರೋಹಿಯಾದಂತಾಯಿತು.
29 If I rejoiced at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him:
೨೯ನನ್ನನ್ನು ದ್ವೇಷಿಸುವವನಿಗೆ ಕೇಡು ಬಂದಾಗ ಉಬ್ಬಿಕೊಂಡು, ಅವನ ನಾಶನಕ್ಕೆ ಹಿಗ್ಗಿದೆನೋ?
30 Neither have I suffered my mouth to sin by wishing a curse to his soul.
೩೦ಇಲ್ಲವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ, ನನ್ನ ಬಾಯಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಶಪಿಸಿ ಅವನ ಪ್ರಾಣ ಹೋಗಲಿ ಎಂದು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಪಾಪವಶವಾಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಾನು ಒಪ್ಪಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ.
31 If the men of my tabernacle said not, Oh that we had of his flesh! we cannot be satisfied.
೩೧ನನ್ನ ಗುಡಾರದ ಆಳುಗಳು, ‘ನಮ್ಮ ಯಜಮಾನ ಬಡಿಸಿದ ಮಾಂಸದಿಂದ ತೃಪ್ತರಾಗದವರು ಎಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಸಿಕ್ಕಲಾರರು’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲವೋ?
32 The stranger did not lodge in the street: [but] I opened my doors to the traveller.
೩೨ಪರಸ್ಥಳದವನು ಬಯಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲವಲ್ಲಾ, ದಾರಿಗೆ ನನ್ನ ಮನೆಯ ಬಾಗಿಲುಗಳನ್ನು ತೆರೆದಿದ್ದೆನಷ್ಟೆ.
33 If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom:
೩೩ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಜನ ಸಮುದಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೆದರಿದ್ದರಿಂದಾಗಲಿ, ಕುಲೀನರ ತಿರಸ್ಕಾರವು ನನಗೆ ಭಯ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದಾಗಲಿ,
34 Did I fear a great multitude, or did the contempt of families terrify me, that I kept silence, [and] went not out of the door?
೩೪ನಾನು ಬಾಗಿಲು ದಾಟದೆ ಮೌನವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಜನರ ಹಾಗೆ ನನ್ನ ದ್ರೋಹಗಳನ್ನು ಮರೆಮಾಡಿ, ಎದೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಪಾಪವನ್ನು ಬಚ್ಚಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರೆ,
35 Oh that one would hear me! behold, my desire [is, that] the Almighty would answer me, and [that] mine adversary had written a book.
೩೫ಅಯ್ಯೋ, ನನ್ನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಡತಕ್ಕವನು ಇದ್ದರೆ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಲೇಸು! ಇದೇ ನನ್ನ ಕೈಗುರುತು ನೋಡಿರಿ, ಸರ್ವಶಕ್ತನಾದ ದೇವರು ನನಗೆ ಉತ್ತರಕೊಡಲಿ! ನನ್ನ ವಿರೋಧಿಯು ಬರೆದುಕೊಂಡ ಅಪಾದನೆಯ ಪತ್ರವು ನನಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದರೆ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಸಂತೋಷ!
36 Surely I would take it upon my shoulder, [and] bind it [as] a crown to me.
೩೬ಅದನ್ನು ಹೆಗಲ ಮೇಲೆ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆನು, ಕಿರೀಟವನ್ನಾಗಿ ಧರಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆನು.
37 I would declare unto him the number of my steps; as a prince would I go near unto him.
೩೭ಪ್ರಭುವಿನಂತೆ ಆತನ ಸಾನ್ನಿಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿ ನನ್ನ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಗಳ ಲೆಕ್ಕವನ್ನು, ಆತನಿಗೆ ಅರಿಕೆಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದೆನು.
38 If my land cry against me, or that the furrows likewise thereof complain;
೩೮ನನ್ನ ಭೂಮಿಯು ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೂಗಿಕೊಂಡರೆ ಅದರ ನೇಗಿಲ ಗೆರೆಗಳೆಲ್ಲಾ ಅತ್ತರೆ,
39 If I have eaten the fruits thereof without money, or have caused the owners thereof to lose their life:
೩೯ನಾನು ಹಣಕೊಡದೆ ಅದರ ಸಾರವನ್ನು ಅನುಭವಿಸಿ, ಅದರ ದಣಿಗಳ ಪ್ರಾಣ ಹಾನಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣನಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ,
40 Let thistles grow instead of wheat, and cockle instead of barley. The words of Job are ended.
೪೦ಗೋದಿಗೆ ಬದಲಾಗಿ ಮುಳ್ಳುಗಳೂ, ಜವೆಗೋದಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿಯಾಗಿ ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಕಳೆಗಳೂ ಬೆಳೆಯಲಿ.” ಎಂದನು. ಹೀಗೆ ಯೋಬನ ಮಾತುಗಳು ಮುಗಿದವು.
