Job 15
1 Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,
૧પછી અલિફાઝ તેમાનીએ ઉત્તર આપીને કહ્યું કે,
2 Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?
૨“શું કોઈ જ્ઞાની માણસ ખાલી શબ્દોથી દલીલ કરે અને પોતાનું પેટ પૂર્વના પવનથી ભરે?
3 Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?
૩શું તે નિરર્થક વાત વડે કે, હિત ન કરી શકે એવા ભાષણ વડે દલીલ કરે?
4 Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.
૪હા, તું ઈશ્વરના ભયનો પણ ત્યાગ કરે છે. તથા તું ઈશ્વરભક્તિને અટકાવે છે,
5 For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.
૫કેમ કે તારો અન્યાય તારા મુખને શીખવે છે. અને તું કપટીઓની જીભને પસંદ કરે છે.
6 Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.
૬મારા નહિ, પણ તારા પોતાના જ શબ્દો તને દોષિત ઠરાવે છે; હા, તારી વાણી જ તારી વિરુદ્ધ સાક્ષી પૂરે છે.
7 [Art] thou the first man [that] was born? or wast thou made before the hills?
૭શું તું આદિ પુરુષ છે? શું પર્વતો ઉત્પન્ન થયા તે પહેલાં તું જન્મ્યો હતો?
8 Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?
૮શું તેં ઈશ્વરના ગૂઢ ડહાપણ વિષે સાંભળ્યું છે ખરું? શું તેં બધી બુદ્ધિ તારા પોતાનામાં સમાવી રાખી છે?
9 What knowest thou, that we know not? [what] understandest thou, which [is] not in us?
૯અમે ન જાણતા હોઈએ એવું તું શું જાણે છે? અમારા કરતાં તારામાં કઈ વિશેષ સમજદારી છે?
10 With us [are] both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.
૧૦અમારામાં પળીયાંવાળા તથા વૃદ્ધ માણસો છે, જેઓ તારા પિતા કરતાં પણ મોટી ઉંમરના પુરુષો છે.
11 [Are] the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?
૧૧શું ઈશ્વરના દિલાસા, તથા તારી પ્રત્યેના અમારા નમ્ર વચનો તારી નજરમાં કંઈ વિસાતમાં નથી?
12 Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,
૧૨તારું હૃદય તને કેમ દૂર લઈ જાય છે? તારી આંખો કેમ મિચાય છે?
13 That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest [such] words go out of thy mouth?
૧૩તેથી તું તારું હૃદય ઈશ્વરની વિરુદ્ધ કરે છે. અને શા માટે એવા શબ્દો તારા મુખમાંથી નીકળવા દે છે?
14 What [is] man, that he should be clean? and [he which is] born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
૧૪શું માણસ પવિત્ર હોઈ શકે? સ્ત્રીજન્ય માનવી ન્યાયી હોઈ શકે?
15 Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.
૧૫જો, તે પોતાના સંત પુરુષોનો પણ ભરોસો કરતો નથી. હા, તેમની દ્રષ્ટિમાં તો આકાશો પણ શુદ્ધ નથી;
16 How much more abominable and filthy [is] man, which drinketh iniquity like water?
૧૬તો જે ધિક્કારપાત્ર, અધમ, તથા પાણીની જેમ અન્યાયને પી જાય છે તો તે કેટલા વિશેષ ગણાય!
17 I will shew thee, hear me; and that [which] I have seen I will declare;
૧૭હું તમને બતાવીશ; મારું સાંભળો; મેં જે જોયું છે તે હું તમને કહી સંભળાવીશ.
18 Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid [it: ]
૧૮તે જ્ઞાની પુરુષોએ પોતાના પિતૃઓ પાસેથી સાંભળીને પ્રગટ કર્યું છે, તેઓએ કંઈ પણ છુપાવ્યું નથી.
19 Unto whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger passed among them.
૧૯કેવળ આ તેઓના પિતૃઓને જ ભૂમિ આપવામાં આવી હતી. અને તેઓમાં કોઈ વિદેશી જવા પામતો નથી.
20 The wicked man travaileth with pain all [his] days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.
૨૦દુર્જન તેના આખા જીવન પર્યંત પીડા ભોગવે છે, તે પોતાનાં નિયત કરેલાં વર્ષો દરમ્યાન કષ્ટથી પીડાય છે.
21 A dreadful sound [is] in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.
૨૧તેનાં કાનમાં ભયનો અવાજ ગૂંજે છે; આબાદીને સમયે લૂંટનાર તેના પર હુમલો કરશે.
22 He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.
૨૨તે માનતો નથી કે હું અંધકારમાંથી પાછો આવીશ; તે માને છે કે તલવાર તેની રાહ જોઈ રહી છે.
23 He wandereth abroad for bread, [saying], Where [is it]? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
૨૩તે ખોરાક માટે એમ કહીને ભટકે છે કે, તે ક્યાં છે? તે જાણે છે કે અંધકારનાં દિવસો નજીક છે.
24 Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.
૨૪સંકટ તથા વેદના તેને ભયભીત કરે છે; યુદ્ધને માટે સજ્જ થયેલા રાજાની જેમ તેઓ તેના પર વિજય મેળવે છે.
25 For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.
૨૫કેમ કે તેણે ઈશ્વરની સામે પોતાનો હાથ ઉઠાવ્યો છે અને સર્વશક્તિમાન ઈશ્વરની સામે તે અહંકારથી વર્તે છે.
26 He runneth upon him, [even] on [his] neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:
૨૬દુષ્ટ માણસ ગરદન અક્કડ રાખીને, મજબૂત ઢાલથી સજ્જ થઈને ઈશ્વર તરફ દોડે છે
27 Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on [his] flanks.
૨૭આ સાચું છે, જો કે તેણે પોતાનું મુખ તેના શરીરની ચરબીથી ઢાંક્યું છે અને તેની કૂખો પર ચરબીનાં પડ બાઝ્યાં છે.
28 And he dwelleth in desolate cities, [and] in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps.
૨૮તે ઉજ્જડ નગરોમાં જે ઘરમાં કોઈ રહે નહિ એવાં, તથા જીર્ણ થઈ ગયેલાં ઘરોમાં રહે છે.
29 He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth.
૨૯તે ધનવાન થશે નહિ તેની સમૃદ્ધિ ટકશે નહિ. તેનાં વતનો પૃથ્વી પર વિસ્તાર પામશે નહિ.
30 He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.
૩૦તે અંધકારમાંથી બચશે નહિ; જ્વાળાઓ તેની ડાળીઓને સૂકવી નાખશે; અને ઈશ્વરના શ્વાસથી નાશ પામશે.
31 Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.
૩૧તેણે નિરર્થક બાબતોમાં વિશ્વાસ કરીને પોતાને મૂર્ખ બનાવવો જોઈએ નહિ; કેમ કે તેને કંઈ મળશે નહિ.
32 It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be green.
૩૨તેના જીવનનો અંત આવે તે પહેલાં ભરપૂરી પામશે, અને તેની ડાળીઓ લીલી નહિ રહેશે.
33 He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive.
૩૩દ્રાક્ષના વેલાની જેમ તે પોતાની કાચી દ્રાક્ષો પાડી નાખશે; અને જૈતૂનના વૃક્ષની જેમ તેનાં ફૂલ ખરી પડશે.
34 For the congregation of hypocrites [shall be] desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.
૩૪કેમ કે ઢોંગી લોકોનો સંગ નિષ્ફળ થશે; રુશવતખોરોનાં ઘરો અગ્નિથી નાશ પામશે.
35 They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepareth deceit.
૩૫દુષ્ટ લોકો નુકસાનનો ગર્ભ ધારણ કરે છે. અને અન્યાયને જન્મ આપે છે; તેઓનું પેટ ઠગાઈને સિદ્ધ કરે છે.”
