Job 14
1 Man [that is] born of a woman [is] of few days, and full of trouble.
婦の產む人はその日少なくして艱難多し
2 He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
その來ること花のごとくにして散り 其馳ること影のごとくにして止まらず
3 And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?
なんぢ是のごとき者に汝の目を啓きたまふや 汝われを汝の前にひきて審判したまふや
4 Who can bring a clean [thing] out of an unclean? not one.
誰か清き物を汚れたる物の中より出し得る者あらん 一人も無し
5 Seeing his days [are] determined, the number of his months [are] with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
その日旣に定まり その月の數なんぢに由り 汝これが區域を立て越ざらしめたまふなれば
6 Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.
是に目を離して安息を得させ 之をして傭人のその日を樂しむがごとくならしめたまへ
7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.
それ木には望あり 假令砍るるとも復芽を出してその枝絶ず
8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;
たとひ其根地の中に老い 幹土に枯るとも
9 [Yet] through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.
水の潤霑にあへば即ち芽をふき枝を出して若樹に異ならず
10 But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where [is] he?
然ど人は死れば消うす 人氣絶なば安に在んや
11 [As] the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:
水は海に竭き河は涸てかわく
12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens [be] no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.
是のごとく人も寢臥てまた興ず 天の盡るまで目覺ず睡眠を醒さざるなり
13 O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! (Sheol h7585)
願はくは汝われを陰府に藏し 汝の震怒の息むまで我を掩ひ 我ために期を定め而して我を念ひたまへ (Sheol h7585)
14 If a man die, shall he live [again]? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
人もし死ばまた生んや 我はわが征戰の諸日の間望みをりて我が變更の來るを待ん
15 Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.
なんぢ我を呼たまはん 而して我こたへん 汝かならず汝の手の作を顧みたまはん
16 For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?
今なんぢは我に歩履を數へたまふ 我罪を汝うかがひたまはざらんや
17 My transgression [is] sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.
わが愆は凡て嚢の中に封じてあり汝わが罪を縫こめたまふ
18 And surely the mountain falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place.
それ山も倒れて終に崩れ巖石も移りてその處を離る
19 The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow [out] of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.
水は石を鑿ち 浪は地の塵を押流す 汝は人の望を斷たまふ
20 Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.
なんぢは彼を永く攻なやまして去ゆかしめ 彼の面容の變らせて逐やりたまふ
21 His sons come to honour, and he knoweth [it] not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth [it] not of them.
その子尊貴なるも彼は之を知ず 卑賤なるもまた之を曉らざるなり
22 But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.
只己みづからその肉に痛苦を覺え己みづからその心に哀く而已
