Job 14
1 Man [that is] born of a woman [is] of few days, and full of trouble.
“স্ত্রী-জাত নশ্বর মানুষ, তাদের জীবনকাল সংক্ষিপ্ত ও ঝামেলায় পরিপূর্ণ।
2 He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
ফুলের মতো তারা ফোটে ও শুকিয়েও যায়; দ্রুতগামী ছায়ার মতো, তারা মিলিয়ে যায়।
3 And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?
তাদের উপরে তুমি কি তোমার চোখ স্থির করবে? বিচারের জন্য তুমি কি তাদের তোমার সামনে নিয়ে আসবে?
4 Who can bring a clean [thing] out of an unclean? not one.
অশুদ্ধ থেকে শুদ্ধের উৎপত্তি কে করতে পারে? কেউ করতে পারে না!
5 Seeing his days [are] determined, the number of his months [are] with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
একজন মানুষের আয়ুর দিনগুলি নির্ধারিত হয়ে আছে; তার মাসের সংখ্যা তুমি স্থির করে রেখেছ ও এমন এক সীমা স্থাপন করেছ যা সে ছাড়িয়ে যেতে পারে না।
6 Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.
তাই তার উপর থেকে দৃষ্টি সরিয়ে নাও ও তাকে ছেড়ে দাও, যতক্ষণ না সে এক দিনমজুরের মতো তার সময় দিচ্ছে।
7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.
“এমনকি একটি গাছেরও আশা আছে: সেটিকে কেটে ফেলা হলেও, তা আবার অঙ্কুরিত হয়, ও তার নতুন শাখার অভাব হয় না।
8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;
সেটির মূল জমির নিচে পুরোনো হয়ে যেতে পারে ও তার গুঁড়ি মাটিতে মরে যেতে পারে,
9 [Yet] through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.
তবুও জলের গন্ধ পেলেই তা মুকুলিত হবে ও এক চারাগাছের মতো শাখাপ্রশাখা বিস্তার করবে।
10 But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where [is] he?
কিন্তু মানুষ মরে যায় ও কবরে শায়িত হয়; সে শেষনিশ্বাস ত্যাগ করে ও তার অস্তিত্ব বিলীন হয়ে যায়।
11 [As] the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:
যেভাবে হ্রদের জল শুকিয়ে যায় বা নদীর খাত রোদে পোড়ে ও শুকিয়ে যায়,
12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens [be] no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.
সেভাবে সে শায়িত হয় ও আর ওঠে না; আকাশমণ্ডল বিলুপ্ত না হওয়া পর্যন্ত, মানুষজন আর জাগবে না বা তাদের ঘুম আর ভাঙানো যাবে না।
13 O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! (Sheol h7585)
“তুমি যদি শুধু আমাকে কবরে লুকিয়ে রাখতে ও তোমার ক্রোধ শান্ত না হওয়া পর্যন্ত আমাকে আড়াল করে রাখতে! তুমি যদি শুধু আমার জন্য একটি সময় স্থির করে দিতে ও তারপর আমায় স্মরণ করতে! (Sheol h7585)
14 If a man die, shall he live [again]? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
যদি কেউ মারা যায়, সে কি আবার বেঁচে উঠবে? আমার কঠোর সেবাকাজের সবকটি দিন আমি আমার নবীকরণের জন্য অপেক্ষা করে থাকব।
15 Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.
তুমি ডাকবে ও আমি তোমাকে উত্তর দেব; তোমার হাত যে প্রাণীকে সৃষ্টি করেছে, তুমি তার আকাঙ্ক্ষা করবে।
16 For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?
নিশ্চয় তুমি তখন আমার পদক্ষেপ গুনবে, কিন্তু আমার পাপের উপর নজর দেবে না।
17 My transgression [is] sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.
আমার অপরাধগুলি থলিতে কষে বন্ধ করা হবে; তুমি আমার পাপ ঢেকে দেবে।
18 And surely the mountain falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place.
“কিন্তু পর্বত যেভাবে ক্ষয়ে যায় ও ভেঙে চুরমার হয়ে যায় ও পাষাণ-পাথর যেভাবে নিজের জায়গা থেকে সরে যায়,
19 The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow [out] of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.
জল যেভাবে পাথরকে ক্ষয় করে ও তীব্র স্রোত যেভাবে মাটি ধুয়ে নিয়ে যায়, সেভাবে তুমি একজন লোকের আশা ধ্বংস করছ।
20 Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.
তুমি চিরকালের জন্য তাদের দমন করেছ, ও তারা বিলুপ্ত হয়েছে; তুমি তাদের মুখের চেহারা পরিবর্তিত করেছ ও তাদের পাঠিয়ে দিয়েছ।
21 His sons come to honour, and he knoweth [it] not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth [it] not of them.
তাদের সন্তানেরা যদি সম্মানিত হয়, তারা তা জানতে পারে না; তাদের সন্তানেরা যদি অবনত হয়, তারা তা দেখতে পায় না।
22 But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.
তারা শুধু নিজেদের শরীরের ব্যথাবেদনা অনুভব করে ও শুধু নিজেদের জন্যই শোক পালন করে।”
