Jeremiah 51
1 Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against them that dwell in the midst of them that rise up against me, a destroying wind;
Así dijo Jehová: He aquí que yo levanto sobre Babilonia, y sobre sus moradores, que de corazón se levantan contra mí, un viento destruidor.
2 And will send unto Babylon fanners, that shall fan her, and shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shall be against her round about.
Y enviaré en Babilonia aventadores que la aventen, y vaciarán su tierra; porque serán contra ella de todas partes en el día del mal.
3 Against [him that] bendeth let the archer bend his bow, and against [him that] lifteth himself up in his brigandine: and spare ye not her young men; destroy ye utterly all her host.
Diré al flechero que entesa su arco, y al que se pone orgulloso con su loriga: No perdonéis a sus mancebos; destruíd todo su ejército.
4 Thus the slain shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans, and [they that are] thrust through in her streets.
Y caerán muertos en la tierra de los Caldeos, y alanceados en sus calles.
5 For Israel [hath] not [been] forsaken, nor Judah of his God, of the LORD of hosts; though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.
Porque no ha enviudado Israel y Judá de su Dios, Jehová de los ejércitos, aunque su tierra fue llena de pecado al Santo de Israel.
6 Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this [is] the time of the LORD’s vengeance; he will render unto her a recompence.
Huid de en medio de Babilonia, y escapád cada uno su alma, porque no perezcáis a causa de su maldad; porque el tiempo es de venganza de Jehová: darle ha su pago.
7 Babylon [hath been] a golden cup in the LORD’s hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.
Vaso de oro fue Babilonia en la mano de Jehová, que embriaga toda la tierra: de su vino bebieron las naciones, por tanto enloquecerán las naciones.
8 Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.
En un momento cayó Babilonia, y se quebrantó: aullád sobre ella: tomád bálsamo para su dolor: quizá sanará.
9 We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up [even] to the skies.
Curamos a Babilonia, y no sanó: dejádla, y vámonos cada uno a su tierra; porque llegado ha hasta el cielo su juicio; y alzádose ha hasta las nubes.
10 The LORD hath brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion the work of the LORD our God.
Jehová sacó a luz nuestras justicias: veníd, y contemos en Sión la obra de Jehová nuestro Dios.
11 Make bright the arrows; gather the shields: the LORD hath raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for his device [is] against Babylon, to destroy it; because it [is] the vengeance of the LORD, the vengeance of his temple.
Limpiád las saetas, embrazád los escudos: despertado ha Jehová el espíritu de los reyes de Media, porque contra Babilonia es su pensamiento para destruirla; porque venganza es de Jehová, venganza es de su templo.
12 Set up the standard upon the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the LORD hath both devised and done that which he spake against the inhabitants of Babylon.
Levantád bandera sobre los muros de Babilonia: fortificád la guarda, ponéd guardas: aparejád celadas; porque aun pensó Jehová, y aun puso en efecto lo que dijo sobre los moradores de Babilonia.
13 O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine end is come, [and] the measure of thy covetousness.
La que moras entre muchas aguas, rica de tesoros, venido ha tu fin, la medida de tu codicia.
14 The LORD of hosts hath sworn by himself, [saying], Surely I will fill thee with men, as with caterpillers; and they shall lift up a shout against thee.
Jehová de los ejércitos juró por sí mismo: Si no te hinchiere de hombres como de langostas, y cantarán sobre ti canción de lagareros.
15 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.
El que hace la tierra con su fortaleza, el que afirma el mundo con su sabiduría, y extiende los cielos con su prudencia.
16 When he uttereth [his] voice, [there is] a multitude of waters in the heavens; and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth: he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.
El que da con voz multitud de aguas del cielo: después él hace subir las nubes de lo postrero de la tierra: hace relámpagos con la lluvia, y saca el viento de sus tesoros.
17 Every man is brutish by [his] knowledge; every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image [is] falsehood, and [there is] no breath in them.
Todo hombre se enloquece a esta sabiduría: todo platero se avergüenza de la escultura, porque mentira es su vaciadizo, que no tienen espíritu.
18 They [are] vanity, the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.
Vanidad son, y obra de escarnios, en el tiempo de su visitación perecerán.
19 The portion of Jacob [is] not like them; for he [is] the former of all things: and [Israel is] the rod of his inheritance: the LORD of hosts [is] his name.
No es como ellos la parte de Jacob; porque él es el formador de todo: e Israel es la vara de su heredad: Jehová de los ejércitos es su nombre.
20 Thou [art] my battle axe [and] weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms;
Martillo me sois, o! armas de guerra, y por ti quebrantaré naciones; y por ti desharé reinos;
21 And with thee will I break in pieces the horse and his rider; and with thee will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider;
Y por ti quebrantaré caballos y sus caballeros; y por ti quebrantaré carros y los que en ellos suben;
22 With thee also will I break in pieces man and woman; and with thee will I break in pieces old and young; and with thee will I break in pieces the young man and the maid;
Y por ti quebrantaré varones y mujeres; y por ti quebrantaré viejos y mozos; y por ti quebrantaré mancebos y vírgenes;
23 I will also break in pieces with thee the shepherd and his flock; and with thee will I break in pieces the husbandman and his yoke of oxen; and with thee will I break in pieces captains and rulers.
Y por ti quebrantaré al pastor y a su manada; por ti quebrantaré labradores y sus yuntas; y por ti quebrantaré duques y príncipes.
24 And I will render unto Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, saith the LORD.
Y pagaré a Babilonia, y a todos los moradores de Caldea, todo el mal de ellos, que hicieron en Sión delante de vuestros ojos, dijo Jehová.
25 Behold, I [am] against thee, O destroying mountain, saith the LORD, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain.
He aquí yo contra ti, o! monte destruidor, dijo Jehová, que destruiste toda la tierra; y extenderé mi mano sobre ti, y hacerte he rodar de las peñas, y tornarte he monte quemado.
26 And they shall not take of thee a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations; but thou shalt be desolate for ever, saith the LORD.
Y nadie tomará de ti piedra para esquina, ni piedra para cimiento; porque en perpetuos asolamientos serás, dijo Jehová.
27 Set ye up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz; appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough caterpillers.
Alzád bandera en la tierra, tocád trompeta en las naciones, apercebíd naciones contra ella, juntád contra ella los reinos de Ararat, de Minni, y de Ascenes: señalád contra ella capitán, hacéd subir caballos como langostas erizadas.
28 Prepare against her the nations with the kings of the Medes, the captains thereof, and all the rulers thereof, and all the land of his dominion.
Apercebíd contra ella naciones: a reyes de Media, a sus capitanes, y a todos sus príncipes, y a toda la tierra de su señorío.
29 And the land shall tremble and sorrow: for every purpose of the LORD shall be performed against Babylon, to make the land of Babylon a desolation without an inhabitant.
Y temblará la tierra, y afligirse ha; porque confirmado es contra Babilonia todo el pensamiento de Jehová, para poner la tierra de Babilonia en soledad, y que no haya morador.
30 The mighty men of Babylon have forborn to fight, they have remained in [their] holds: their might hath failed; they became as women: they have burned her dwellingplaces; her bars are broken.
Los valientes de Babilonia dejaron de pelear, estuviéronse en los fuertes: faltóles su fortaleza: tornáronse como mujeres: encendieron los enemigos sus casas, quebraron sus cerrojos.
31 One post shall run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to shew the king of Babylon that his city is taken at [one] end,
Correo se encontrará con correo, y mensajero se encontrará con mensajero, para dar las nuevas al rey de Babilonia, que su ciudad es tomada por todas partes:
32 And that the passages are stopped, and the reeds they have burned with fire, and the men of war are affrighted.
Y los vados fueron tomados, y los carrizos fueron quemados a fuego, y los hombres de guerra se asombraron.
33 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; The daughter of Babylon [is] like a threshingfloor, [it is] time to thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come.
Porque así dijo Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: la hija de Babilonia es como parva, tiempo es ya de trillarla: de aquí a un poco le vendrá el tiempo de la siega.
34 Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon hath devoured me, he hath crushed me, he hath made me an empty vessel, he hath swallowed me up like a dragon, he hath filled his belly with my delicates, he hath cast me out.
Comióme, y desmenuzóme Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia: paróme como vaso vacío: tragóme como dragón: hinchió su vientre de mis delicadezas, y me echó.
35 The violence done to me and to my flesh [be] upon Babylon, shall the inhabitant of Zion say; and my blood upon the inhabitants of Chaldea, shall Jerusalem say.
Mi robo y mi carne está en Babilonia, dirá la moradora de Sión; y mi sangre en los moradores de Caldea, dirá Jerusalem.
36 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will plead thy cause, and take vengeance for thee; and I will dry up her sea, and make her springs dry.
Por tanto así dijo Jehová: He aquí que yo juzgo tu causa, y vengaré tu venganza; y secaré su mar, y haré que quede seca su corriente.
37 And Babylon shall become heaps, a dwellingplace for dragons, an astonishment, and an hissing, without an inhabitant.
Y será Babilonia en majanos morada de dragones, espanto, y silbo, sin morador.
38 They shall roar together like lions: they shall yell as lions’ whelps.
A una bramarán como leones: bramarán como cachorros de leones.
39 In their heat I will make their feasts, and I will make them drunken, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the LORD.
En su calor les pondré sus banquetes; y haréles que se embriaguen para que se alegren, y duerman eterno sueño, y no despierten, dijo Jehová.
40 I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams with he goats.
Hacerlos he traer como corderos al matadero, como carneros con machos de cabrío.
41 How is Sheshach taken! and how is the praise of the whole earth surprised! how is Babylon become an astonishment among the nations!
¿Cómo fue presa Sesac, y fue tomada la que era alabada por toda la tierra? ¿Cómo fue por espanto Babilonia entre las naciones?
42 The sea is come up upon Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof.
Subió la mar sobre Babilonia, de la multitud de sus ondas fue cubierta.
43 Her cities are a desolation, a dry land, and a wilderness, a land wherein no man dwelleth, neither doth [any] son of man pass thereby.
Sus ciudades fueron asoladas, la tierra seca y desierta, tierra que no morará en ella nadie, ni pasará por ella hijo de hombre,
44 And I will punish Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he hath swallowed up: and the nations shall not flow together any more unto him: yea, the wall of Babylon shall fall.
Y visitaré a Bel en Babilonia, y sacaré de su boca lo que ha tragado; y naciones no vendrán más a él; y el muro de Babilonia caerá.
45 My people, go ye out of the midst of her, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the LORD.
Salíd de en medio de ella, pueblo mío, y escapád cada uno su vida de la ira del furor de Jehová.
46 And lest your heart faint, and ye fear for the rumour that shall be heard in the land; a rumour shall both come [one] year, and after that in [another] year [shall come] a rumour, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler.
Y porque no se enternezca vuestro corazón, y temáis, a causa de la fama que se oirá por la tierra: en un año vendrá la fama, y después en otro año el rumor, y luego vendrá la violencia en la tierra, y el enseñoreador sobre el que enseñorea.
47 Therefore, behold, the days come, that I will do judgment upon the graven images of Babylon: and her whole land shall be confounded, and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her.
Por tanto he aquí que vienen días que yo visitaré las esculturas de Babilonia, y toda su tierra se avergonzará, y todos sus muertos caerán en medio de ella.
48 Then the heaven and the earth, and all that [is] therein, shall sing for Babylon: for the spoilers shall come unto her from the north, saith the LORD.
Y los cielos, y la tierra, y todo lo que en ellos está, dirán alabanzas sobre Babilonia; porque de la parte del aquilón vendrán sobre ella destruidores, dijo Jehová.
49 As Babylon [hath caused] the slain of Israel to fall, so at Babylon shall fall the slain of all the earth.
Pues que Babilonia fue causa que cayesen muertos de Israel, también por causa de Babilonia cayeron muertos de toda la tierra.
50 Ye that have escaped the sword, go away, stand not still: remember the LORD afar off, and let Jerusalem come into your mind.
Los que escapasteis de la espada, andád, no os detengáis: acordáos por muchos días de Jehová, y acordáos de Jerusalem.
51 We are confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame hath covered our faces: for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the LORD’s house.
Estamos avergonzados, porque oímos la afrenta: cubrió vergüenza nuestros rostros, porque vinieron extranjeros contra los santuarios de la casa de Jehová.
52 Wherefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will do judgment upon her graven images: and through all her land the wounded shall groan.
Por tanto, he aquí, vienen días, dijo Jehová, que yo visitaré sus esculturas, y en toda su tierra gemirá herido de muerte.
53 Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, [ yet] from me shall spoilers come unto her, saith the LORD.
Si se subiese Babilonia al cielo, y si fortaleciere en lo alto su fuerza, de mí vendrán a ella destruidores, dijo Jehová.
54 A sound of a cry [cometh] from Babylon, and great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans:
Sonido de grito de Babilonia, y quebrantamiento grande de la tierra de los Caldeos.
55 Because the LORD hath spoiled Babylon, and destroyed out of her the great voice; when her waves do roar like great waters, a noise of their voice is uttered:
Porque Jehová destruye a Babilonia, y quitará de ella el mucho estruendo; y bramarán sus ondas: como muchas aguas será el sonido de la voz de ellos:
56 Because the spoiler is come upon her, [even] upon Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompences shall surely requite.
Porque vino contra ella, contra Babilonia, destruidor, y sus valientes fueron presos, el arco de ellos fue quebrado; porque el Dios de pagas Jehová pagará pagando.
57 And I will make drunk her princes, and her wise [men], her captains, and her rulers, and her mighty men: and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the King, whose name [is] the LORD of hosts.
Y embriagaré sus príncipes, y sus sabios, sus capitanes, y sus nobles, y sus fuertes; y dormirán sueño eterno, y no despertarán, dice el Rey, Jehová de los ejércitos es su nombre.
58 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the folk in the fire, and they shall be weary.
Así dijo Jehová de los ejércitos: El muro ancho de Babilonia derribando será derribado, y sus altas puertas serán quemadas a fuego; y trabajarán pueblos y naciones en vano en el fuego, y cansarse han.
59 The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah into Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. And [this] Seraiah [was] a quiet prince.
Palabra que envió Jeremías profeta a Saraías, hijo de Nerías, hijo de Maasías, cuando iba con Sedecías, rey de Judá, a Babilonia, el cuarto año de su reino; y era Saraías el principal camarero.
60 So Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come upon Babylon, [even] all these words that are written against Babylon.
Y escribió Jeremías en un libro todo el mal que había de venir sobre Babilonia: todas las palabras que están escritas contra Babilonia.
61 And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, When thou comest to Babylon, and shalt see, and shalt read all these words;
Y dijo Jeremías a Saraías: Cuando llegares a Babilonia, y vieres, y leyeres todas estas cosas,
62 Then shalt thou say, O LORD, thou hast spoken against this place, to cut it off, that none shall remain in it, neither man nor beast, but that it shall be desolate for ever.
Dirás: Jehová, tú dijiste contra este lugar que lo habías de talar, hasta no quedar en él morador, ni hombre, ni animal, mas que para siempre ha de ser asolado.
63 And it shall be, when thou hast made an end of reading this book, [that] thou shalt bind a stone to it, and cast it into the midst of Euphrates:
Y será que cuando acabares de leer este libro, atarle has una piedra, y echarlo has en medio del Éufrates;
64 And thou shalt say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise from the evil that I will bring upon her: and they shall be weary. Thus far [are] the words of Jeremiah.
Y dirás: Así será anegada Babilonia, y no se levantará del mal que yo traigo sobre ella: y cansarse han. Hasta aquí son las palabras de Jeremías.
