< Jeremiah 5 >
1 Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be [any] that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.
Mikariokarioha amo lala’ Ierosalaimeo, mijilojilova vaho mahaoniña! Tsikaraho o kiririsa’eo ke hahaisake ondaty manao ty hahiti’e, mipay ty hatò— le hiheveako.
2 And though they say, The LORD liveth; surely they swear falsely.
Ndra te manao ty hoe, Amy te veloñe t’Iehovà; manao fanta vilañe re.
3 O LORD, [are] not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, [but] they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.
Ry Iehovà, tsy mitsoeke ty hatò hao o fihaino’oo? Linafa’o iereo f’ie tsy nalorè; nimongore’o fe tsy mete avohotse; nanoe’ iareo gañe ta ty vato o tarehe’ iareoo; mifoneñe tsy hisoloho.
4 Therefore I said, Surely these [are] poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, [nor] the judgment of their God.
Le hoe iraho, rarake avao iereo, gege; tsy fohi’ iareo ty lala’ Iehovà, o lilin’ Andrianañahare’ iareoo.
5 I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, [and] the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, [and] burst the bonds.
Homb’amo roandriañeo arè iraho, tsy mete tsy rendre’ iereo o sata’ Iehovào, o lilin’ Andrianañahare’ iareoo. F’ie songa nampipozake i jokay, nandrafarafake o talirandrañeo.
6 Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, [and] a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, [and] their backslidings are increased.
Toly ndra hampibaibay iareo o liona boak’ añ’alao, hanjaman’ iareo ty maràmbolo boak’ an-dratraratra ao. Mijilojilo o rova’eo ty farasi-lahi’e; ie mandrimidrimitse ze miakatse —amy ty hamaro’ o fiolà’ iareoo, fa losotse ty fidisa-voli’ iareo.
7 How shall I pardon thee for this? thy children have forsaken me, and sworn by [them that are] no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots’ houses.
Aa vaho akore ty hiheveako azo? Fa nieng’ahy o ana’oo naho nifanta amo ndrahare tsie’eo; ie nampianjañeko, le nañarapilo, vaho nikovovoke mb’añ’ akiban-tsimiriram-beo.
8 They were [as] fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour’s wife.
Soavala lahi’e mpilelalela iereo, songa mitreñe amy tañanjomban-drañe’ey.
9 Shall I not visit for these [things]? saith the LORD: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
Tsy ho lafaeko hao? Hoe t’Iehovà; tsy hondroheko hao ty fifeheañe manahake zao?
10 Go ye up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end: take away her battlements; for they [are] not the LORD’s.
Soroho o tondam-bahe’eo le fongoro, fe anisao; holiro o tsampa’eo amy te tsy a’ Iehovà.
11 For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith the LORD.
Toe songa nitsambolitiok’ ahy ty anjomba’ Israele naho ty anjomba’ Iehodà, hoe t’Iehovà;
12 They have belied the LORD, and said, [It is] not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:
nanoe’e entam-bande t’Iehovà, ami’ty hoe: Tsy Ie; tsy hiambotraha’ ty raty tika, vaho tsy hizò fibara ndra kerè.
13 And the prophets shall become wind, and the word [is] not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.
Kafoake avao o mpitokio, tsy am’ iareo i tsaray; aa le zay ty hanoañe iareo.
14 Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.
Hoe t’Iehovà Andrianañahare’ i màroy: Kanao sinao’ areo i entañe zay, le hanoeko afo am-palie’o ao o volakoo, naho hatae ondaty retoañe, hamorototoeko iareo.
15 Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the LORD: it [is] a mighty nation, it [is] an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say.
Hampiambotraheko ama’o ty fifeheañe boake tsietoitane añe, ry anjomba’ Israele, hoe t’Iehovà. Fifeheañe lava havelo, fifelehañe haehae, tane aman-tsaontsy tsy fohi’o, vaho tsy hapota’o ze taroñe’e.
16 Their quiver [is] as an open sepulchre, they [are] all mighty men.
Hoe kibory misokake ty trañon-ana-pale’ iareo, songa fanalolahy.
17 And they shall eat up thine harvest, and thy bread, [which] thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy flocks and thine herds: they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees: they shall impoverish thy fenced cities, wherein thou trustedst, with the sword.
Habotse’ iareo ty nivokare’o naho ty mahakama’o; hagedra’ iareo o ana-dahi’oo naho o anak’ampela’oo; ho kamae’ iareo o lia-rai’oo naho o mpirai-tro’oo: ho genohe’ iareo o vahe’oo naho o sakoa’oo; ho demohe’ iareo am-pibara o rova fatratse iatoa’oo.
18 Nevertheless in those days, saith the LORD, I will not make a full end with you.
Fa ndra amy andro rezay, hoe t’Iehovà, tsy ho fonga mongoreko.
19 And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our God all these [things] unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land [that is] not yours.
Aa ie manao ty hoe iereo: Ino ty nanoe’Iehovà Andrianañahare-tika amantika i hene raha zay? le hoe ty havale’o: Hambañ’amy namorintseña’ areo Ahiy, naho nitoroñe ‘ndrahare ila’e an-tane’ areo ao, t’ie hitoroñe ambahiny an-tane tsy anahareo.
20 Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,
Koiho añ’anjomba’ Iakobe naho tseizo e Iehodà ao ty hoe:
21 Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not:
Janjiño zao ry ondaty gege, tsy mahilalao; amam-pihaino fe tsy mahaoniñe, aman-dravembia f’ie tsy mahajanjiñe.
22 Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand [for] the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?
Tsy mañeveñe amako hao nahareo? hoe t’Iehovà; Tsy mihondrahondra añatrefako etoa hao nahareo? Napoko ho fañefetse amy riakey i faseñey, ho sebañe nainai’e tsy hisorohañe; aa ndra te mitoabotse o onja’eo tsy hahafitroatse, ndra te mitroñe tsy haha-fitsaka aze.
23 But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.
F’ie manjehatse naho miola ty arofo’ondaty retoa, miveve vaho mienga.
24 Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.
Tsy anoe’ iereo añ’arofo ao ty hoe: Antao hañeveñe am’ Iehovà Andrianañaharentika, ie mampahavy orañe an-tsa’e, i orañ’asotriy naho i oram-panjakay vaho tana’e ho antika o hereñandro namantañeñe ho fitatahañeo.
25 Your iniquities have turned away these [things], and your sins have withholden good [things] from you.
Fa nampihake irezay o hakeo’oo, le nampisitake ty hasoa ama’o o tahi’oo.
26 For among my people are found wicked [men: ] they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.
Toe zoeñe am’ondatikoo o lo-tserekeo, mijilo hoe mpitsepa-boroñe le mikopete; mampibitsoke fandri-bo; mamandrike ondaty.
27 As a cage is full of birds, so [are] their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.
Manahake ty kipa pea voroñe, o kivoho’ iareo lipo-kiniao; aa le nitoabotse ty enge naho ty vara’ iareo.
28 They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.
Vondrake naho sometsetse, mitombo am-pikitrohan-draty, tsy zakae’ iereo ami’ty hatò ty enta’ i bodey hampiraorao aze, vaho tsy arova’ iareo ty zo’ o rarakeo.
29 Shall I not visit for these [things]? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
Tsy ho liloveko hao iereo? hoe t’Iehovà, tsy ho valeko fate hao ty fifeheañe manahake itone?
30 A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;
Raha mahavereñe naho haloloañe ty nifetsake amy taney:
31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love [to have it] so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?
mitoky vilañe o mpitokio, vaho mañorike o mpitokio ty fifehea’ o mpisoroñeo; izay ty tea’ ondatikoo, fa ino ty hanoe’areo am-pigadoña’e?
