< Jeremiah 4 >

1 If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith the LORD, return unto me: and if thou wilt put away thine abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not remove.
Nam laem let nahaeloe, Aw Israel, kai khaeah amlaem ah, tiah Angraeng mah thuih; panuet thok hmuennawk takhoe ving hanah na koeh nahaeloe, kai khae hoi angthui hmah.
2 And thou shalt swear, The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.
Nangmah doeh, Angraeng loe hing, tiah oepthohhaih, lokcaekhaih, toenghaih hoiah lokkamhaih sak han angaih; prae kaminawk doeh anih rang hoiah tahamhoihaih to paek ueloe, anih oephaih rang hoiah lensawkhaih to hnu o tih, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
3 For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.
Judah hoi Israel kaminawk khaeah Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; nangmacae ih long to atok oh, soekhring thungah antii to haeh o hmah.
4 Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench [it], because of the evil of your doings.
Angraeng khaeah tangyat hin aat oh, nangcae Judah hoi Jerusalem kaminawk, nangcae ih palung tangyat hin to aat oh; to tih ai nahaeloe na sak o ih kasae hmuennawk pongah, palung ka phuihaih hmai baktiah tacawt ueloe, mi mah doeh paduek thai ai ah kangh moeng tih.
5 Declare ye in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, Blow ye the trumpet in the land: cry, gather together, and say, Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the defenced cities.
Judah prae thungah taphong oh loe, Jerusalem ah tha hoi hang oh; prae thung boih ah mongkah to ueng oh; maeto ah amhong oh, nawnto amkhueng oh loe, sipae kacak vangpuinawk thungah caeh o si, tiah thui pae oh.
6 Set up the standard toward Zion: retire, stay not: for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.
Zion ah caeh han angmathaih kahni to payang oh, loih hanah cawn oh! Anghak o hmah! Kalen parai amrohaih hoi raihaih to aluek bang hoiah kang sin han.
7 The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; [and] thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.
Kaipui loe a khaw thung hoiah tacawt boeh; prae kaminawk phraekung loe loklam ah angzoh li; anih loe na prae amrosak hanah a ohhaih ahmuen hoiah tacawt boeh; nangcae ih vangpuinawk loe kami om ai ah pong o sut tih boeh.
8 For this gird you with sackcloth, lament and howl: for the fierce anger of the LORD is not turned back from us.
To pongah kazii to angzaeng oh, palungnat hoiah qah oh; kanung parai Angraeng palungphuihaih loe aicae khae hoi amlaem ai vop.
9 And it shall come to pass at that day, saith the LORD, [that] the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder.
To na niah loe siangpahrang hoi anih ih angraengnawk loe palungboeng o tih; qaimanawk dawnrai o ueloe, tahmaanawk doeh anghmang o sut tih, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
10 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! surely thou hast greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall have peace; whereas the sword reacheth unto the soul.
To naah kai mah, Ah, Angraeng Sithaw, kaicae hinghaih nuiah sumsen to phak boeh, toe kamongah na om o tih hmang, tiah na thuih ih lok mah hae kami hoi Jerusalem kaminawk hae na thlaeng boeh, tiah ka naa.
11 At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to fan, nor to cleanse,
To naah hae kami hoi Jerusalem kaminawk khaeah, Hmuensang ih takhi kabae loe praezaek bang hoi kai kami canunawk khaeah song tih, toe to takhi loe hawhsak han ih na ai, ciimsak han ih doeh na ai ni;
12 [Even] a full wind from those [places] shall come unto me: now also will I give sentence against them.
Kai khae hoi thacak parai takhi to song tih, vaihi nihcae to lok ka caek han boeh.
13 Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots [shall be] as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe unto us! for we are spoiled.
Khenah, anih loe tamai baktiah angzo tih, anih ih hrang lakoknawk loe takhi kamhae baktiah om tih; anih ih hrang loe tahmu pongah doeh rang kue. Khosak a bing o boeh! Aicae loe amro boeh!
14 O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?
Aw Jerusalem, pahlong thai hanah, kasae poekhaih palungthin to pasae lai ah. Kasae poekhaihnawk to nasetto maw na thungah om vop tih?
15 For a voice declareth from Dan, and publisheth affliction from mount Ephraim.
Dan prae hoiah lok to tacawt moe, Ephraim mae hoiah raihaih tamthang to taphong boeh.
16 Make ye mention to the nations; behold, publish against Jerusalem, [that] watchers come from a far country, and give out their voice against the cities of Judah.
Prae kaminawk boih khaeah thui oh; khenah, Jerusalem misa haih to thui oh; katoep kaminawk loe prae kangthla hoiah angzoh o moe, Judah vangpuinawk misatukhaih lok to paek o boeh.
17 As keepers of a field, are they against her round about; because she hath been rebellious against me, saith the LORD.
To prae mah Kai hae misa ah suek pongah, laikok toep kaminawk baktiah, nihcae mah Judah to takui o khoep boeh, tiah Angraeng mah thuih.
18 Thy way and thy doings have procured these [things] unto thee; this [is] thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart.
Na caehhaih loklam hoi na sak ih hmuennawk pongah ni hae hmuennawk hae na nuiah phak; na zaehaih pongah ni kakhaa parai hae hmuen hae na palung thungah oh.
19 My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.
Aw palung, palung! Palung thungah nat; kai ih palung loe tapok tom boeh pongah, kaom duem thai ai boeh; Aw ka hinghaih, misa pahruekhaih mongkah lok to na thaih boeh.
20 Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is spoiled: suddenly are my tents spoiled, [and] my curtains in a moment.
Amro boeh, amro boeh, tiah hang o; prae boih amro boeh; kai ih kahni imnawk loe nawnetta thungah amro moe, imkhaan pakaahaih doeh akra ai ah amro boeh.
21 How long shall I see the standard, [and] hear the sound of the trumpet?
Nasetto maw kahni payanghaih to ka khet moe, mongkah lok ka tahngaih han vop?
22 For my people [is] foolish, they have not known me; they [are] sottish children, and they have none understanding: they [are] wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.
Kai ih kaminawk loe amthu o, kai panoek o ai; palungha ai nawktanawk ah oh o moe, panoekhaih tawn o ai; kahoih ai hmuen to sak panoek o moe, kahoih hmuen sakhaih to panoek o ai.
23 I beheld the earth, and, lo, [it was] without form, and void; and the heavens, and they [had] no light.
Long to ka khet naah, krang om ai, tidoeh om ai; vannawk doeh aanghaih om ai.
24 I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.
Ka dan naah, maenawk loe tasoeh o moe, maesomnawk doeh ahnuk ahma angthuih o.
25 I beheld, and, lo, [there was] no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.
Ka dan naah kami to om ai; van ih tavaanawk doeh azawk o boih boeh.
26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place [was] a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, [and] by his fierce anger.
Ka dan naah thingthai qumpo hoi kakoi ahmuen loe praezaek ah angcoeng ving moe, vangpuinawk doeh Angraeng hmaa ah amro o boih boeh, kanung parai anih palungphuihaih mah to tiah amrosak boeh.
27 For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.
Angraeng mah hae tiah thuih; prae boih pong sut tih, toe amro boih mak ai.
28 For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black: because I have spoken [it], I have purposed [it], and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it.
To pongah long loe palungsae tih; vannawk ranui ah khoving tih; ka thuih ih lok baktih toengah, dawnpakhuem mak ai, sak ka timhaih baktih toengah, ka phrae let mak ai.
29 The whole city shall flee for the noise of the horsemen and bowmen; they shall go into thickets, and climb up upon the rocks: every city [shall be] forsaken, and not a man dwell therein.
Hrang angthueng kaminawk hoi kalii avak kaminawk ih atuen pongah, vangpui boih cawn o tih; lungsong thungah akun o ueloe, lungsong nuiah daw o tih; vangpui to caeh o taak boih tih, mi doeh athung ah om o mak ai.
30 And [when] thou [art] spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; [thy] lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.
Nam ro naah timaw na sak han? Khukbuen kamling hoi nam thoek moe, sui hoi nam thoep cadoeh, mikhmai ah tasi angnok moe, nam thoep khing cadoeh, na kranghoihaih loe azom pui ni; na tlangainawk mah patoek ueloe, na hinghaih lak hanah pakrong o tih.
31 For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, [and] the anguish as of her that bringeth forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, [that] bewaileth herself, [that] spreadeth her hands, [saying], Woe [is] me now! for my soul is wearied because of murderers.
Nongpata mah nawk tapen naah qah ih lok, ca tapen tangsuek nathuem ih kana ahamhaih lok baktih toengah, Zion canu hanghaih lok to ka thaih; anih loe ban to payangh moe, Kai loe khosak bing boeh! Kami hum kaminawk pongah, tha ka zok sut boeh, tiah a hangh.
