Jeremiah 2

1 Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

౧యెహోవా వాక్కు నాకు ప్రత్యక్షమై ఇలా చెప్పాడు.

2 Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; I remember thee, the kindness of thy youth, the love of thine espousals, when thou wentest after me in the wilderness, in a land [that was] not sown.

౨“యెరూషలేము నివాసులకు ఇలా ప్రకటించు. యెహోవా చెప్పేదేమిటంటే, నువ్వు అరణ్యంలో, పంటలు పండని ప్రాంతాల్లో నా వెంట నడుస్తూ నీ యవ్వనకాలంలో నీవు నాపై చూపిన నిబంధన నమ్మకత్వం, నీ వైవాహిక ప్రేమ, నేను గుర్తు చేసుకుంటున్నాను.

3 Israel [was] holiness unto the LORD, [and] the firstfruits of his increase: all that devour him shall offend; evil shall come upon them, saith the LORD.

౩అప్పుడు ఇశ్రాయేలు యెహోవాకు ప్రతిష్ఠిత జనంగా, ఆయన పంటలో ప్రథమ ఫలంగా ఉంది. వారిని బాధించే వారందరూ శిక్షకు పాత్రులు. వారిపైకి కీడు దిగి వస్తుంది.” ఇదే యెహోవా వాక్కు.

4 Hear ye the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel:

౪యాకోబు సంతానమా, ఇశ్రాయేలు ప్రజలారా, మీరంతా యెహోవా మాట వినండి.

5 Thus saith the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?

౫యెహోవా ఇలా సెలవిస్తున్నాడు. “నాలో ఏ తప్పిదం చూసి మీ పూర్వికులు నాకు దూరమై వ్యర్థమైన విగ్రహాలను పూజించి వారూ వ్యర్థులుగా మారిపోయారు?

6 Neither said they, Where [is] the LORD that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, that led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought, and of the shadow of death, through a land that no man passed through, and where no man dwelt?

౬‘ఐగుప్తు దేశంలో నుండి మమ్మల్ని తెచ్చిన యెహోవా ఏడీ’ అని అడగలేదు. అంటే ‘అరణ్యంలో, చవిటి నేలలతో, గోతులతో నిండిన ప్రదేశంలో, అనావృష్టీ చీకటీ నిండిన, ఎవరూ తిరగని, నివసించని దేశంలో మమ్మల్ని నడిపించిన యెహోవా ఎక్కడ ఉన్నాడు?’ అని ప్రజలు అడగడం లేదు.

7 And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination.

౭ఫలవంతమైన దేశంలోకి మిమ్మల్ని తీసుకువచ్చి దాని పంటను, దానిలోని శ్రేష్ఠమైన పదార్థాలను తినేలా చేశాను. అయితే మీరు నా దేశాన్ని అపవిత్రం చేసి నా వారసత్వాన్ని హేయపరిచారు.”

8 The priests said not, Where [is] the LORD? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after [things that] do not profit.

౮“యెహోవా ఎక్కడ ఉన్నాడు?” అని యాజకులు వెతకడం లేదు. ధర్మశాస్త్ర బోధకులకు నేనెవరో తెలియదు. ప్రజల నాయకులు నా మీద తిరుగుబాటు చేశారు. ప్రవక్తలు బయలు దేవుడి పేరట ప్రవచించి, వ్యర్ధమైన వాటిని అనుసరించారు.

9 Wherefore I will yet plead with you, saith the LORD, and with your children’s children will I plead.

౯కాబట్టి నేనికనుండి మీపైనా మీ పిల్లల పైనా వారి పిల్లల పైనా నేరం మోపుతాను. ఇది యెహోవా వాక్కు.

10 For pass over the isles of Chittim, and see; and send unto Kedar, and consider diligently, and see if there be such a thing.

౧౦కిత్తీయుల ద్వీపాలకు వెళ్లి చూడండి, కేదారుకు దూతలను పంపి విచారించండి. మీలో జరుగుతున్న ప్రకారం ఇంకెక్కడైనా జరుగుతున్నదా?

11 Hath a nation changed [their] gods, which [are] yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for [that which] doth not profit.

౧౧దేవుళ్ళు కాని వారితో తమ దేవుళ్ళను ఏ ప్రజలైనా ఎప్పుడైనా మార్చుకున్నారా? కానీ నా ప్రజలు ప్రయోజనం లేని దాని కోసం తమ మహిమను మార్చుకున్నారు.

12 Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the LORD.

౧౨ఆకాశమా, దీని గురించి విస్మయం చెందు. భయపడి వణుకు. ఇదే యెహోవా వాక్కు.

13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, [and] hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

౧౩నా ప్రజలు రెండు తప్పులు చేశారు. జీవజలాల ఊటనైన నన్ను విడిచి పెట్టేశారు. తమకోసం తొట్లు, అంటే నీటిని నిలపలేక బద్దలైపోయే తొట్లను తొలిపించుకున్నారు.

14 [Is] Israel a servant? [is] he a homeborn [slave]? why is he spoiled?

౧౪ఇశ్రాయేలు ఒక బానిసా? అతడు ఇంటిలో జన్మించిన వాడే కదా? మరెందుకు అతడు దోపుడు సొమ్ముగా మారాడు?

15 The young lions roared upon him, [and] yelled, and they made his land waste: his cities are burned without inhabitant.

౧౫కొదమ సింహాలు అతనిపై గర్జించాయి, అతనిపై పెద్దగా అరుస్తూ అతని దేశాన్ని భయకంపితం చేశాయి. అతని పట్టణాలు ప్రజలు నివసించలేనంతగా నాశనం అయ్యాయి.

16 Also the children of Noph and Tahapanes have broken the crown of thy head.

౧౬నోపు, తహపనేసు అనే పట్టణాల ప్రజలు నీకు బోడిగుండు చేసి నిన్ను బానిసగా చేసుకున్నారు.

17 Hast thou not procured this unto thyself, in that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, when he led thee by the way?

౧౭నీ దేవుడైన యెహోవా నిన్ను నడిపిస్తున్నప్పుడు నువ్వు ఆయన్ని విడిచి వేరైపోయి నీకు నీవే ఈ బాధ తెచ్చిపెట్టుకున్నావు గదా?

18 And now what hast thou to do in the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? or what hast thou to do in the way of Assyria, to drink the waters of the river?

౧౮ఐగుప్తు దారిలో వెళ్లి షీహోరు నీళ్లు తాగడానికి నీకేం పని? అష్షూరు దారిలో వెళ్లి యూఫ్రటీసు నది నీళ్లు తాగడానికి నీకేం పని?

19 Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that [it is] an evil [thing] and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear [is] not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

౧౯నీ చెడుతనం నీ శిక్షకు కారణమౌతుంది. నువ్వు చేసిన ద్రోహం నిన్ను దండిస్తుంది అని ప్రభువు, సేనల ప్రభువు అయిన యెహోవా సెలవిస్తున్నాడు. ఎందుకంటే నీ దేవుడైన యెహోవాను నీవు విడిచిపెట్టావు. నేనంటే నీకెంత మాత్రం భయం లేదు.

20 For of old time I have broken thy yoke, [and] burst thy bands; and thou saidst, I will not transgress; when upon every high hill and under every green tree thou wanderest, playing the harlot.

౨౦పూర్వకాలం నుండి ఉన్న నీ కాడిని విరగగొట్టి, నీ బంధకాలను తెంపివేశాను. అయినా “నేను నిన్ను పూజించను” అని చెబుతున్నావు. ఎత్తయిన ప్రతి కొండ మీదా పచ్చని ప్రతి చెట్టు కిందా వేశ్యలాగా వ్యభిచారం చేశావు.

21 Yet I had planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right seed: how then art thou turned into the degenerate plant of a strange vine unto me?

౨౧శ్రేష్ఠమైన ద్రాక్షావల్లిగా నేను నిన్ను నాటాను. నిక్కచ్చి విత్తనం గల చెట్టులాగా నిన్ను నాటాను. అయినా నా పట్ల ఎందుకు నువ్వు పిచ్చి ద్రాక్షాతీగెలాగా నిష్ప్రయోజనం అయిపోయావు?

22 For though thou wash thee with nitre, and take thee much soap, [yet] thine iniquity is marked before me, saith the Lord GOD.

౨౨నువ్వు నదిలో కడుక్కున్నా, ఎక్కువ సబ్బు రాసుకున్నా నీ దోషం నాకు గొప్ప మరకలాగా కనిపిస్తున్నది. ఇది ప్రభువైన యెహోవా వాక్కు.

23 How canst thou say, I am not polluted, I have not gone after Baalim? see thy way in the valley, know what thou hast done: [thou art] a swift dromedary traversing her ways;

౨౩“నాలో అపవిత్రత లేదు, బయలు దేవుళ్ళ వెనక నేను వెళ్ళడం లేదు” అని నువ్వు ఎలా అనుకుంటున్నావు? లోయల్లో నీవెలా ప్రవర్తించావో చూడు. నువ్వు చేసిన దాన్ని గమనించు. నువ్వు విచ్చలవిడిగా తిరిగే ఒంటెవి.

24 A wild ass used to the wilderness, [that] snuffeth up the wind at her pleasure; in her occasion who can turn her away? all they that seek her will not weary themselves; in her month they shall find her.

౨౪అరణ్యానికి అలవాటు పడిన అడవి గాడిదవు. అది కామంతో దీర్ఘంగా శ్వాస తీసుకుంటుంది. మగ గాడిదను కలిసినప్పుడు దాన్ని ఆపగల వాడెవడు? దాని వెంటబడే గాడిదలకు అలుపు రాదు. తన జత కోసం వెదికే కాలంలో అది తేలికగా కనిపిస్తుంది.

25 Withhold thy foot from being unshod, and thy throat from thirst: but thou saidst, There is no hope: no; for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.

౨౫నీ పాదాలకు చెప్పులు తొడుక్కుని జాగ్రత్త పడు, నీ గొంతు ఆరిపోకుండా జాగ్రత్తపడు, అని నేను చెప్పాను. కాని “నీ మాట వినను, కొత్తవారిని మోహించాను, వారి వెంట వెళ్తాను” అని చెబుతున్నావు.

26 As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets,

౨౬దొంగ దొరికిపోయినప్పుడు సిగ్గుపడే విధంగా ఇశ్రాయేలు కుటుంబం సిగ్గుపడుతుంది. చెట్టుతో “నువ్వు మా తండ్రివి” అనీ, రాయితో “నువ్వే నన్ను పుట్టించావు” అనీ చెబుతూ, ఇశ్రాయేలు ప్రజలు, వారి రాజులు, అధిపతులు, యాజకులు, ప్రవక్తలు అవమానం పొందుతారు.

27 Saying to a stock, Thou [art] my father; and to a stone, Thou hast brought me forth: for they have turned [their] back unto me, and not [their] face: but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us.

౨౭వారు నా వైపు నేరుగా చూడకుండా తమ వీపు తిప్పుకున్నారు. అయినా ఆపద సమయంలో మాత్రం, “వచ్చి మమ్మల్ని రక్షించు” అని నన్ను వేడుకుంటారు.

28 But where [are] thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: for [according to] the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah.

౨౮నీ కోసం చేసుకున్న దేవుళ్ళు ఎక్కడ ఉన్నారు? నీ ఆపదలో వాళ్ళు వచ్చి నిన్ను రక్షిస్తారేమో. యూదా, నీ పట్టణాలెన్ని ఉన్నాయో నీ దేవతా విగ్రహాలు కూడా అన్ని ఉన్నాయి కదా.

29 Wherefore will ye plead with me? ye all have transgressed against me, saith the LORD.

౨౯మీరంతా నా మీద తిరగబడి పాపం చేశారు. ఇంకా ఎందుకు నాతో వాదిస్తారు? అని యెహోవా అడుగుతున్నాడు.

30 In vain have I smitten your children; they received no correction: your own sword hath devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.

౩౦నేను మీ ప్రజలను శిక్షించడం వ్యర్థమే. ఎందుకంటే వారు శిక్షకు లోబడరు. నాశనవాంఛ గల సింహంలాగా మీ ఖడ్గం మీ ప్రవక్తలను చంపుతూ ఉంది.

31 O generation, see ye the word of the LORD. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel? a land of darkness? wherefore say my people, We are lords; we will come no more unto thee?

౩౧ఇప్పటి తరం ప్రజలు యెహోవా చెప్పే మాట వినండి, నేను ఇశ్రాయేలుకు ఒక అరణ్యం లాగా అయ్యానా? గాఢాంధకారంతో నిండిన దేశంలా అయ్యానా? “మాకు స్వేచ్ఛ లభించింది, ఇంక నీ దగ్గరికి రాము” అని నా ప్రజలెందుకు చెబుతున్నారు?

32 Can a maid forget her ornaments, [or] a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number.

౩౨ఒక కన్య తన ఆభరణాలు మర్చిపోతుందా? పెళ్ళికూతురు తన మేలిముసుగులు మర్చిపోతుందా? అయితే నా ప్రజలు లెక్కలేనన్ని దినాలు నన్ను మర్చిపోయారు.

33 Why trimmest thou thy way to seek love? therefore hast thou also taught the wicked ones thy ways.

౩౩కామం తీర్చుకోడానికి నీవెంత తెలివిగా నటిస్తున్నావు? కులటలకు కూడా నువ్వు ఇలాటివి నేర్పించగలవు.

34 Also in thy skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents: I have not found it by secret search, but upon all these.

౩౪నిర్దోషులైన దీనుల ప్రాణరక్తం నీ బట్ట చెంగుల మీద కనబడుతూ ఉంది. వారేమీ నిన్ను దోచుకోడానికి వచ్చినవారు కాదు.

35 Yet thou sayest, Because I am innocent, surely his anger shall turn from me. Behold, I will plead with thee, because thou sayest, I have not sinned.

౩౫ఇంతా చేసినా నువ్వు “నేను నిర్దోషిని, యెహోవా కోపం నా మీదికి రాదులే” అని చెప్పుకుంటున్నావు. ఇదిగో చూడు, “నేను పాపం చేయలేదు” అని నువ్వు చెప్పిన దాన్నిబట్టి నిన్ను శిక్షిస్తాను.

36 Why gaddest thou about so much to change thy way? thou also shalt be ashamed of Egypt, as thou wast ashamed of Assyria.

౩౬నీ ప్రవర్తనలో మార్పును అంత తేలికగా ఎలా తీసుకోగలుగుతున్నావు? నువ్వు అష్షూరుపై ఆధారపడి సిగ్గుపడినట్టు ఐగుప్తు విషయంలో కూడా సిగ్గుపడతావు.

37 Yea, thou shalt go forth from him, and thine hands upon thine head: for the LORD hath rejected thy confidences, and thou shalt not prosper in them.

౩౭ఆ జనం దగ్గర నుండి నిరాశతో చేతులు తలపై పెట్టుకుని తిరిగి వెళ్తావు. నువ్వు నమ్ముకున్న వారిని యెహోవా తోసిపుచ్చాడు. వారు నీకు ఏ విధంగానూ సహాయం చేయలేరు.
