James 4
1 From whence [come] wars and fightings among you? [come they] not hence, [even] of your lusts that war in your members?
ยุษฺมากํ มเธฺย สมรา รณศฺจ กุต อุตฺปทฺยนฺเต? ยุษฺมทงฺคศิพิราศฺริตาภฺย: สุเขจฺฉาภฺย: กึ โนตฺปทฺยนฺเต?
2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
ยูยํ วาญฺฉถ กินฺตุ นาปฺนุถ, ยูยํ นรหตฺยามฺ อีรฺษฺยาญฺจ กุรุถ กินฺตุ กฺฤตารฺถา ภวิตุํ น ศกฺนุถ, ยูยํ ยุธฺยถ รณํ กุรุถ จ กินฺตฺวปฺราปฺตาสฺติษฺฐถ, ยโต เหโต: ปฺรารฺถนำ น กุรุถฯ
3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume [it] upon your lusts.
ยูยํ ปฺรารฺถยเธฺว กินฺตุ น ลภเธฺว ยโต เหโต: สฺวสุขโภเคษุ วฺยยารฺถํ กุ ปฺรารฺถยเธฺวฯ
4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
เห วฺยภิจาริโณ วฺยภิจาริณฺยศฺจ, สํสารสฺย ยตฺ ไมตฺรฺยํ ตทฺ อีศฺวรสฺย ศาตฺรวมิติ ยูยํ กึ น ชานีถ? อต เอว ย: กศฺจิตฺ สํสารสฺย มิตฺรํ ภวิตุมฺ อภิลษติ ส เอเวศฺวรสฺย ศตฺรุ รฺภวติฯ
5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
ยูยํ กึ มนฺยเธฺว? ศาสฺตฺรสฺย วากฺยํ กึ ผลหีนํ ภเวตฺ? อสฺมทนฺตรฺวาสี ย อาตฺมา ส วา กิมฺ อีรฺษฺยารฺถํ เปฺรม กโรติ?
6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
ตนฺนหิ กินฺตุ ส ปฺรตุลํ วรํ วิตรติ ตสฺมาทฺ อุกฺตมาเสฺต ยถา, อาตฺมาภิมานโลกานำ วิปกฺโษ ภวตีศฺวร: ฯ กินฺตุ เตไนว นเมฺรภฺย: ปฺรสาทาทฺ ทียเต วร: ๚
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
อเตอว ยูยมฺ อีศฺวรสฺย วศฺยา ภวต ศยตานํ สํรุนฺธ เตน ส ยุษฺมตฺต: ปลายิษฺยเตฯ
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse [your] hands, [ye] sinners; and purify [your] hearts, [ye] double minded.
อีศฺวรสฺย สมีปวรฺตฺติโน ภวต เตน ส ยุษฺมากํ สมีปวรฺตฺตี ภวิษฺยติฯ เห ปาปิน: , ยูยํ สฺวกรานฺ ปริษฺกุรุธฺวํฯ เห ทฺวิมโนโลกา: , ยูยํ สฺวานฺต: กรณานิ ศุจีนิ กุรุธฺวํฯ
9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and [your] joy to heaviness.
ยูยมฺ อุทฺวิชธฺวํ โศจต วิลปต จ, ยุษฺมากํ หาส: โศกาย, อานนฺทศฺจ กาตรตาไย ปริวรฺตฺเตตำฯ
10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
ปฺรโภ: สมกฺษํ นมฺรา ภวต ตสฺมาตฺ ส ยุษฺมานฺ อุจฺจีกริษฺยติฯ
11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of [his] brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
เห ภฺราตร: , ยูยํ ปรสฺปรํ มา ทูษยตฯ ย: กศฺจิทฺ ภฺราตรํ ทูษยติ ภฺราตุ รฺวิจารญฺจ กโรติ ส วฺยวสฺถำ ทูษยติ วฺยวสฺถายาศฺจ วิจารํ กโรติฯ ตฺวํ ยทิ วฺยวสฺถายา วิจารํ กโรษิ ตรฺหิ วฺยวสฺถาปาลยิตา น ภวสิ กินฺตุ วิจารยิตา ภวสิฯ
12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
อทฺวิตีโย วฺยวสฺถาปโก วิจารยิตา จ ส เอวาเสฺต โย รกฺษิตุํ นาศยิตุญฺจ ปารยติฯ กินฺตุ กสฺตฺวํ ยตฺ ปรสฺย วิจารํ กโรษิ?
13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
อทฺย โศฺว วา วยมฺ อมุกนครํ คตฺวา ตตฺร วรฺษเมกํ ยาปยนฺโต วาณิชฺยํ กริษฺยาม: ลาภํ ปฺราปฺสฺยามศฺเจติ กถำ ภาษมาณา ยูยมฺ อิทานีํ ศฺฤณุตฯ
14 Whereas ye know not what [shall be] on the morrow. For what [is] your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
ศฺว: กึ ฆฏิษฺยเต ตทฺ ยูยํ น ชานีถ ยโต ชีวนํ โว ภเวตฺ กีทฺฤกฺ ตตฺตุ พาษฺปสฺวรูปกํ, กฺษณมาตฺรํ ภเวทฺ ทฺฤศฺยํ ลุปฺยเต จ ตต: ปรํฯ
15 For that ye [ought] to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
ตทนุกฺตฺวา ยุษฺมากมฺ อิทํ กถนียํ ปฺรโภริจฺฉาโต วยํ ยทิ ชีวามสฺตเรฺหฺยตตฺ กรฺมฺม ตตฺ กรฺมฺม วา กริษฺยาม อิติฯ
16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
กินฺตฺวิทานีํ ยูยํ ครฺวฺววาไกฺย: ศฺลาฆนํ กุรุเธฺว ตาทฺฤศํ สรฺวฺวํ ศฺลาฆนํ กุตฺสิตเมวฯ
17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth [it] not, to him it is sin.
อโต ย: กศฺจิตฺ สตฺกรฺมฺม กรฺตฺตํ วิทิตฺวา ตนฺน กโรติ ตสฺย ปาปํ ชายเตฯ
