Isaiah 36
1 Now it came to pass in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, [that] Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the defenced cities of Judah, and took them.
೧ಅರಸನಾದ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕನೆಯ ವರ್ಷದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಸನ್ಹೇರೀಬನು ಬಂದು ಯೆಹೂದ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದೊಳಗೆ ಕೋಟೆಕೊತ್ತಲುಗಳುಳ್ಳ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡನು.
2 And the king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem unto king Hezekiah with a great army. And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller’s field.
೨ಆಗ ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನು ಲಾಕೀಷಿನಿಂದ ಮಹಾಸೈನ್ಯ ಸಹಿತನಾದ ರಬ್ಷಾಕೆ ಎಂಬುವವನನ್ನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಇವನು ಅಗಸರ ಹೊಲದ ಕಡೆಯಿಂದ ಹೋಗುವ ರಾಜಮಾರ್ಗದ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಕೆರೆಯ ಕಾಲುವೆಯ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಳೆಯಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡನು.
3 Then came forth unto him Eliakim, Hilkiah’s son, which was over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, Asaph’s son, the recorder.
೩ಆ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಿಲ್ಕೀಯನ ಮಗನೂ ರಾಜಗೃಹಾಧಿಪತಿಯೂ ಆದ ಎಲ್ಯಾಕೀಮ್, ಲೇಖಕನಾದ ಶೆಬ್ನ, ಆಸಾಫನ ಮಗನೂ ಮಂತ್ರಿಯೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದ ಯೋವ ಎಂಬುವವರು ಬಂದರು.
4 And Rabshakeh said unto them, Say ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence [is] this wherein thou trustest?
೪ರಬ್ಷಾಕೆಯು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನೀವು ಹೋಗಿ, ಮಹಾರಾಜನಾದ ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನ ಈ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿರಿ, ‘ಈ ನಿನ್ನ ಭರವಸೆಗೆ ಯಾವ ಆಧಾರವುಂಟು?
5 I say, [sayest thou], (but [they are but] vain words) [I have] counsel and strength for war: now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?
೫ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ವಿವೇಕವೂ, ಬಲವೂ ಉಂಟು ಎಂಬ ನಿನ್ನ ಮಾತು ಬರೀ ಬಾಯಿ ಮಾತೇ ಎಂದು ನಾನು ಹೇಳಬಲ್ಲೆ, ನೀನು ಯಾರನ್ನು ನಂಬಿಕೊಂಡು ನನ್ನ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ತಿರುಗಿಬಿದ್ದಿದ್ದೀ?’
6 Lo, thou trustest in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so [is] Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him.
೬“‘ಜಜ್ಜಿದ ದಂಟಿಗೆ ಸಮಾನವಾದ ಐಗುಪ್ತವೆಂಬ ಕೋಲಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಭರವಸವಿಟ್ಟಿರುತ್ತೀಯಷ್ಟೆ. ಒಬ್ಬನು ಅಂಥ ಕೋಲನ್ನು ಆಧಾರ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಾದರೆ ಅದು ಅವನ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ತಿವಿದು ಒಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ! ಐಗುಪ್ತದ ಅರಸನಾದ ಫರೋಹನನಲ್ಲಿ ಭರವಸವಿಟ್ಟವರಿಗೆ ಅದೇ ಗತಿಯಾಗುವುದು.
7 But if thou say to me, We trust in the LORD our God: [is it] not he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?
೭ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ನೀನು, ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ನಂಬಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಬಹುದು. ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನು, ‘ನೀವು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಇದೇ ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಯ ಮುಂದೆ ಆರಾಧನೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು’ ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಗೂ, ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನವರಿಗೂ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿ, ಆ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಪೂಜಾಸ್ಥಳಗಳನ್ನೂ ಬೇರೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಯಜ್ಞವೇದಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಹಾಳುಮಾಡಿದನಲ್ಲಾ!
8 Now therefore give pledges, I pray thee, to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.
೮“ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಈಗ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಸವಾಲು ಹಾಕುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಮನಸ್ಸುಂಟೋ? ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ಅವನು ನಿನಗೆ ಎರಡು ಸಾವಿರ ಕುದುರೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾನೆ. ನೀನು ಅಷ್ಟು ಮಂದಿ ಸವಾರರನ್ನು ಅವುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಕುಳ್ಳಿರಿಸುವಿಯೋ?
9 How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master’s servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
೯“ಇದೂ ನಿನಗೆ ಅಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುವುದಾದರೆ ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನ ಸೇನಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯಲ್ಪನನ್ನಾದರೂ ಸೋಲಿಸುವುದು ನಿನ್ನಿಂದ ಹೇಗೆ ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ? ರಥಾಶ್ವಬಲಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ನೀನು ಐಗುಪ್ತ್ಯರನ್ನು ನಂಬಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವಂತೆ ಕಾಣುತ್ತದೆ.
10 And am I now come up without the LORD against this land to destroy it? the LORD said unto me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.
೧೦ಈ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಹಾಳುಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಚಿತ್ತವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಬಂದೆನೆಂದು ನೆನಸುತ್ತೀಯೋ? ‘ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಇದನ್ನು ಹಾಳು ಮಾಡಿಬಿಡು’ ಎಂದು ಯೆಹೋವನೇ ನನಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು ಎನ್ನುವ ಅರಸನ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
11 Then said Eliakim and Shebna and Joah unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, unto thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand [it: ] and speak not to us in the Jews’ language, in the ears of the people that [are] on the wall.
೧೧ಆಗ ಎಲ್ಯಾಕೀಮ್, ಶೆಬ್ನ, ಯೋವ ಎಂಬುವವರು ರಬ್ಷಾಕೆಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಮಾತನಾಡುವುದು ಪೌಳಿಗೋಡೆಯ ಮೇಲಿರುವವರಿಗೆ ಕೇಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರಾದ ನಮ್ಮೊಡನೆ ಅರಾಮ್ಯ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡು; ಅದು ನಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಯೂದಾಯ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಬೇಡ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
12 But Rabshakeh said, Hath my master sent me to thy master and to thee to speak these words? [hath he] not [sent me] to the men that sit upon the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?
೧೨ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ರಬ್ಷಾಕೆಯು, “ನನ್ನ ಯಜಮಾನನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಸಂಗಡವಾಗಲಿ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಒಡೆಯನ ಸಂಗಡವಾಗಲಿ ಈ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಈ ಗೋಡೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಕುಳಿತಿರುವ ಜನರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಅವರು ನನ್ನ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ನಿಂತರೆ ನಿಮ್ಮೊಡನೆ ಸ್ವಂತ ಮಲವನ್ನು ತಿಂದು ಸ್ವಂತ ಮೂತ್ರವನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯಬೇಕಾಗುವುದು” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
13 Then Rabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews’ language, and said, Hear ye the words of the great king, the king of Assyria.
೧೩ಆಮೇಲೆ ರಬ್ಷಾಕೆಯು ಎದ್ದು ಗೋಡೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿಂತವರಿಗೆ ಯೂದಾಯ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, “ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಮಹಾರಾಜನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿರಿ.
14 Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you.
೧೪ಅರಸನು ನಿಮಗೆ, ‘ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನಿಂದ ಮೋಸ ಹೋಗಬೇಡಿರಿ. ಅವನು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬಿಡಿಸಲಾರನು.’
15 Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us: this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
೧೫ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನು ನಿಮಗೆ, ‘ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ನಂಬಿರಿ; ಆತನು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಹೇಗೋ ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವನು; ಈ ಪಟ್ಟಣವು ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನ ವಶವಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ’” ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದರೆ,
16 Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make [an agreement] with me [by] a present, and come out to me: and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern;
೧೬ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಡಬೇಡಿರಿ, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನು ಹೇಳುವುದೇನೆಂದರೆ, “ನನ್ನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿರಿ; ನನ್ನೊಡನೆ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ನನ್ನ ಆಶ್ರಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರಿರಿ. ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನೂ ತನ್ನ ಅಂಜೂರದ ಮರ, ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾಲತೆ ಇವುಗಳ ಹಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಂದು ತನ್ನ ಬಾವಿಯ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯುವನು.
17 Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards.
೧೭ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಕಾಲವಾದ ನಂತರ ನಾನು ಬಂದು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಧಾನ್ಯ, ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಾರಸ, ಆಹಾರ, ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿತೋಟ ಇವು ಸಮೃದ್ಧಿಯಾಗಿರುವ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮಾನವಾದ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುವೆನು.”
18 [Beware] lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, The LORD will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
೧೮“ಯೆಹೋವನು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವನು ಎಂಬ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನು ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಸಾನು ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ. ಯಾವ ಜನಾಂಗದ ದೇವತೆಯು ತನ್ನ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಅಶ್ಶೂರದ ಅರಸನ ಕೈಗೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕದಂತೆ ಕಾಪಾಡಿತು?
19 Where [are] the gods of Hamath and Arphad? where [are] the gods of Sepharvaim? and have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?
೧೯ಹಮಾತ್, ಅರ್ಪಾದ್, ಸೆಫರ್ವಯಿಮ್ ಎಂಬ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳ ದೇವತೆಗಳೇನಾದವು? ಅವು ಸಮಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿದವೋ?
20 Who [are they] among all the gods of these lands, that have delivered their land out of my hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?
೨೦ಯಾವ ಜನಾಂಗದ ದೇವತೆಯಾದರೂ ತನ್ನ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಬಿಡಿಸಲಾರದೆ ಹೋದ ಮೇಲೆ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಕೈಗೆ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ಕಾಪಾಡುವನೋ? ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾನೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
21 But they held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king’s commandment was, saying, Answer him not.
೨೧ಆ ಸೇನಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಯಾವ ಉತ್ತರವನ್ನೂ ಕೊಡಬಾರದೆಂದು ಅರಸನು ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಜೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ಸುಮ್ಮನಿದ್ದರು, ಏನು ಹೇಳಲಿಲ್ಲ.
22 Then came Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, that [was] over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder, to Hezekiah with [their] clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.
೨೨ಹಿಲ್ಕೀಯನ ಮಗನೂ ರಾಜಗೃಹಾಧಿಪತಿಯೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದ ಎಲ್ಯಾಕೀಮ್, ಲೇಖಕನಾದ ಶೆಬ್ನ, ಆಸಾಫನ ಮಗನೂ ಮಂತ್ರಿಯೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದ ಯೋವ ಎಂಬುವವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದುಕೊಂಡು ಅರಸನಾದ ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ ರಬ್ಷಾಕೆಯ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
