Isaiah 16
1 Send ye the lamb to the ruler of the land from Sela to the wilderness, unto the mount of the daughter of Zion.
Envoyez, Seigneur, l’agneau dominateur de la terre, de la Pierre du désert à la montagne de la fille de Sion.
2 For it shall be, [that], as a wandering bird cast out of the nest, [so] the daughters of Moab shall be at the fords of Arnon.
Et il arrivera que, comme un oiseau qui fuit, et des petits qui s’envolent du nid, ainsi seront les filles de Moab au passage de l’Arnon.
3 Take counsel, execute judgment; make thy shadow as the night in the midst of the noonday; hide the outcasts; bewray not him that wandereth.
Prends conseil, convoque une assemblée; fais comme une nuit de ton ombre en plein midi; cache ceux qui fuient; et les errants, ne les trahis pas.
4 Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab; be thou a covert to them from the face of the spoiler: for the extortioner is at an end, the spoiler ceaseth, the oppressors are consumed out of the land.
Mes fugitifs habiteront chez toi; Moab, sois leur retraite contre le dévastateur; car la poussière a trouvé sa fin, le misérable a été consumé; il a défailli, celui qui foulait aux pieds la terre.
5 And in mercy shall the throne be established: and he shall sit upon it in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness.
Et dans la miséricorde sera préparé un trône, et il s’y assiéra dans la vérité, dans le tabernacle de David, un roi jugeant, et recherchant ce qui est juste, et rendant une prompte justice.
6 We have heard of the pride of Moab; [he is] very proud: [even] of his haughtiness, and his pride, and his wrath: [but] his lies [shall] not [be] so.
Nous avons appris l’orgueil de Moab; ce peuple est très orgueilleux; et son orgueil, et son arrogance, et sa fureur, sont plus grands que sa puissance.
7 Therefore shall Moab howl for Moab, every one shall howl: for the foundations of Kir-hareseth shall ye mourn; surely [they are] stricken.
C’est pour cela que Moab hurlera à Moab; tous hurleront; à ceux qui se réjouissent sur leurs murailles de briques cuites au feu, annoncez leurs plaies.
8 For the fields of Heshbon languish, [and] the vine of Sibmah: the lords of the heathen have broken down the principal plants thereof, they are come [even] unto Jazer, they wandered [through] the wilderness: her branches are stretched out, they are gone over the sea.
Parce que les faubourgs d’Hésébon sont déserts, et que les maîtres des nations ont coupé la vigne de Sabama; ses jeunes branches sont parvenues jusqu’à Jazer; elles se sont répandues çà et là dans le désert; ses rejetons ont été laissés, ils ont passé au-delà de la mer.
9 Therefore I will bewail with the weeping of Jazer the vine of Sibmah: I will water thee with my tears, O Heshbon, and Elealeh: for the shouting for thy summer fruits and for thy harvest is fallen.
À cause de cela, je pleurerai du pleur de Jazer, la vigne de Sabama, je vous enivrerai de mes larmes, Hésébon et Eléalé, parce que sur votre vendange et sur votre moisson est tombée la voix de ceux qui les ont foulées aux pieds.
10 And gladness is taken away, and joy out of the plentiful field; and in the vineyards there shall be no singing, neither shall there be shouting: the treaders shall tread out no wine in [their] presses; I have made [their vintage] shouting to cease.
Et la joie et l’exultation seront enlevées du Carmel, et dans les vignes on n’exultera ni on ne jubilera; il ne foulera pas le vin dans le pressoir, celui qui avait coutume de le fouler; j’ai ôté la voix de ceux qui foulaient.
11 Wherefore my bowels shall sound like an harp for Moab, and mine inward parts for Kir-haresh.
À cause de cela, le fond de mon cœur retentira sur Moab, comme la harpe, et mes entrailles sur le mur de briques cuites au feu.
12 And it shall come to pass, when it is seen that Moab is weary on the high place, that he shall come to his sanctuary to pray; but he shall not prevail.
Et il arrivera que, lorsque Moab aura vu qu’il s’est fatigué sur ses hauts lieux, il entrera dans son sanctuaire afin de prier instamment, et qu’il ne pourra rien.
13 This [is] the word that the LORD hath spoken concerning Moab since that time.
C’est la parole qu’a dite le Seigneur à Moab anciennement;
14 But now the LORD hath spoken, saying, Within three years, as the years of an hireling, and the glory of Moab shall be contemned, with all that great multitude; and the remnant [shall be] very small [and] feeble.
Et maintenant le Seigneur a parlé, disant: Dans trois ans, comptés comme les années d’un mercenaire, la gloire de Moab sera enlevée avec tout son peuple nombreux; et il sera laissé petit et faible, et nullement nombreux.
