Genesis 34

1 And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.

Y salió Dina la hija de Lia, que había parido a Jacob, por ver las hijas de la tierra.

2 And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.

Y vióla Siquem, hijo de Jamor Heveo, príncipe de aquella tierra, y tomóla, y echóse con ella; y afligióla.

3 And his soul clave unto Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spake kindly unto the damsel.

Y apegóse su alma con Dina, la hija de Jacob, y enamoróse de la moza, y habló al corazón de la moza.

4 And Shechem spake unto his father Hamor, saying, Get me this damsel to wife.

Y habló Siquem a Jamor su padre, diciendo: Tómame esta moza por mujer.

5 And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter: now his sons were with his cattle in the field: and Jacob held his peace until they were come.

Y oyó Jacob, que había ensuciado a Dina su hija, estando sus hijos con su ganado en el campo; y calló Jacob hasta que ellos viniesen.

6 And Hamor the father of Shechem went out unto Jacob to commune with him.

Y salió Jamor, padre de Siquem, a Jacob, para hablar con él.

7 And the sons of Jacob came out of the field when they heard [it: ] and the men were grieved, and they were very wroth, because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with Jacob’s daughter; which thing ought not to be done.

Y los hijos de Jacob vinieron del campo en oyéndolo, y entristeciéronse los varones, y ensañáronse mucho, porque hizo vileza en Israel, echándose con la hija de Jacob, que no se debía de hacer así.

8 And Hamor communed with them, saying, The soul of my son Shechem longeth for your daughter: I pray you give her him to wife.

Y Jamor habló con ellos, diciendo: El alma de mi hijo Siquem se ha apegado con vuestra hija: ruégoos que se la deis por mujer:

9 And make ye marriages with us, [and] give your daughters unto us, and take our daughters unto you.

Y consagrád con nosotros: dádnos vuestras hijas, y tomád vosotros las nuestras.

10 And ye shall dwell with us: and the land shall be before you; dwell and trade ye therein, and get you possessions therein.

Y habitád con nosotros: porque la tierra estará delante de vosotros: morád y negociád en ella, y tomád en ella posesión.

11 And Shechem said unto her father and unto her brethren, Let me find grace in your eyes, and what ye shall say unto me I will give.

Siquem también dijo a su padre y a sus hermanos: Halle yo gracia en vuestros ojos: y yo daré lo que vosotros me dijereis.

12 Ask me never so much dowry and gift, and I will give according as ye shall say unto me: but give me the damsel to wife.

Aumentád sobre mí mucho ajuar y dones, que yo daré cuanto me dijereis; y dádme la moza por mujer.

13 And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and said, because he had defiled Dinah their sister:

Y respondieron los hijos de Jacob a Siquem, y a Jamor, su padre, con engaño, y hablaron; porque había ensuciado a Dina su hermana:

14 And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that [were] a reproach unto us:

Y dijéronles: No podemos hacer esto, que demos nuestra hermana a hombre que tiene prepucio; porque a nosotros es abominación:

15 But in this will we consent unto you: If ye will be as we [be], that every male of you be circumcised;

Mas con esta condición os haremos placer. Si fuereis como nosotros, que se circuncide en vosotros todo varón;

16 Then will we give our daughters unto you, and we will take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people.

Entonces os daremos nuestras hijas, y tomaremos nosotros las vuestras; y habitaremos con vosotros, y seremos un pueblo:

17 But if ye will not hearken unto us, to be circumcised; then will we take our daughter, and we will be gone.

Y si no nos oyereis, para circuncidaros, tomaremos nuestra hija, e irnos hemos.

18 And their words pleased Hamor, and Shechem Hamor’s son.

Y parecieron bien sus palabras a Jamor, y a Siquem hijo de Jamor.

19 And the young man deferred not to do the thing, because he had delight in Jacob’s daughter: and he [was] more honourable than all the house of his father.

Y no dilató el mozo de hacer aquello, porque la hija de Jacob le había agradado: y él era el más honrado de toda la casa de su padre.

20 And Hamor and Shechem his son came unto the gate of their city, and communed with the men of their city, saying,

Entonces vino Jamor y Siquem su hijo a la puerta de su ciudad, y hablaron a los varones de su ciudad, diciendo:

21 These men [are] peaceable with us; therefore let them dwell in the land, and trade therein; for the land, behold, [it is] large enough for them; let us take their daughters to us for wives, and let us give them our daughters.

Estos varones son pacíficos con nosotros, y habitarán la tierra; y granjearán en ella, que, he aquí, la tierra es ancha de lugares delante de ellos, nosotros tomaremos sus hijas por mujeres, y darles hemos las nuestras.

22 Only herein will the men consent unto us for to dwell with us, to be one people, if every male among us be circumcised, as they [are] circumcised.

Mas con esta condición nos harán placer los varones, de habitar con nosotros, para que seamos un pueblo: Si se circuncidare en nosotros todo varón, como ellos son circuncidados.

23 [Shall] not their cattle and their substance and every beast of theirs [be] ours? only let us consent unto them, and they will dwell with us.

Sus ganados y su hacienda, y todas sus bestias será nuestro: solamente que consintamos con ellos, y habitarán con nosotros.

24 And unto Hamor and unto Shechem his son hearkened all that went out of the gate of his city; and every male was circumcised, all that went out of the gate of his city.

Y obedecieron a Jamor, y a Siquem su hijo, todos los que salían por la puerta de la ciudad; y circuncidaron a todo varón, cuantos salían por la puerta de la ciudad.

25 And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city boldly, and slew all the males.

Y fue, que al tercero día cuando ellos estaban doloridos, los dos hijos de Jacob, Simeón y Leví, hermanos de Dina, tomaron cada uno su espada, y vinieron contra la ciudad animosamente, y mataron a todo varón.

26 And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem’s house, and went out.

Y a Jamor, y a Siquem su hijo, mataron a filo de espada; y tomaron a Dina de casa de Siquem, y saliéronse.

27 The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and spoiled the city, because they had defiled their sister.

Y los hijos de Jacob vinieron a los muertos, y saquearon la ciudad: por cuanto habían ensuciado a su hermana.

28 They took their sheep, and their oxen, and their asses, and that which [was] in the city, and that which [was] in the field,

Sus ovejas, y vacas, y sus asnos, y lo que había en la ciudad y en el campo, tomaron.

29 And all their wealth, and all their little ones, and their wives took they captive, and spoiled even all that [was] in the house.

Y toda su hacienda, y todos sus niños, y sus mujeres llevaron cautivas, y robaron; y todo lo que había en casa.

30 And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, Ye have troubled me to make me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and I [being] few in number, they shall gather themselves together against me, and slay me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house.

Entonces dijo Jacob a Simeón y a Leví: Turbado me habéis, que me habéis hecho abominable con los moradores de aquesta tierra, el Cananeo y el Ferezeo, teniendo yo pocos hombres: y juntarse han contra mí, y herirme han, y seré destruido yo y mi casa.

31 And they said, Should he deal with our sister as with an harlot?

Y ellos respondieron: ¿Había él de tratar a nuestra hermana como a una ramera?
