Genesis 16
1 Now Sarai Abram’s wife bare him no children: and she had an handmaid, an Egyptian, whose name [was] Hagar.
अब अब्रामकी पत्नी साराईले तिनको निम्ति कुनै सन्तान जन्माएकी थिइनन्, तर तिनकी हागार नाम गरेकी एउटी मिश्री कमारी थिई ।
2 And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.
त्यसैले साराईले अब्रामलाई भनिन्, “हेर्नुहोस्, परमप्रभुले मलाई कुनै सन्तान दिनुभएको छैन । जानुहोस् मेरी कमारीसँग सुत्नुहोस् । सायद त्यसद्वारा मैले सन्तान प्राप्त गर्नेछु।” अब्रामले साराईको कुरा माने ।
3 And Sarai Abram’s wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.
अब्राम कनानमा बसेको दश वर्षपछि साराईले आफ्नी मिश्री कमारी हागारलाई अब्राहमकी पत्नी हुनलाई दिइन् ।
4 And he went in unto Hagar, and she conceived: and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her eyes.
त्यसैले अब्रामले हागारसँग सम्बन्ध राखे र त्यो गर्भवती भई । जब त्यसले आफू गर्भवती भएको थाहा पाई, त्यसले आफ्नी मालिक्नीलाई अपमानको दृष्टिले हेर्न थाली ।
5 And Sarai said unto Abram, My wrong [be] upon thee: I have given my maid into thy bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes: the LORD judge between me and thee.
त्यसपछि साराइले अब्रामलाई भनिन्, “ममाथि भएको यो खराबी तपाईंको कारणले हो । मैले मेरी कमारी तपाईंको अँगालोमा दिएँ, अनि जब त्यसले आफू गर्भवती भएको चाल पाई, त्यसको दृष्टिमा म तुच्छ भएँ । परमेश्वरले तपाईं र मेरो बिचमा इन्साफ गरून् ।”
6 But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid [is] in thy hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face.
तर अब्राहमले साराइलाई भने, “हेर, तिम्री कमारी तिम्रै शक्तिमा छे, तिमीलाई जे उत्तम लाग्छ त्यही गर ।” त्यसैले साराईले त्यससँग कठोर व्यवहार गरिन्, अनि त्यो तिनीदेखि भागी ।
7 And the angel of the LORD found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur.
परमप्रभुका दूतले त्यसलाई मरुभूमिमा भएको पानीको मूल नजिकै भेट्टाए । त्यो मूल शूरतिर जाने बाटोमा पर्छ ।
8 And he said, Hagar, Sarai’s maid, whence camest thou? and whither wilt thou go? And she said, I flee from the face of my mistress Sarai.
तिनले सोधे, “साराईकी कमारी हागार, तँ कहाँबाट आइस् र कहाँ जाँदै छेस्?” त्यसले जवाफ दिई, “म मेरी मालिक्नी साराईदेखि भाग्दै छु।”
9 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.
परमप्रभुका दूतले त्यसलाई भने, “फर्केर तेरी मालिक्नीकहाँ जा र तिनको अधिकारमा समर्पित भएर बस्।”
10 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.
त्यसपछि परमप्रभुका दूतले त्यसलाई भने, “म तेरा सन्तानहरूलाई औधी बढाउनेछु, कि तिनीहरू गन्न नै नसकिने गरी धेरै हुनेछन् ।”
11 And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou [art] with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.
परमेश्वरका दूतले यो पनि भने, “हेर्, तँ गर्भवती भएकी छेस् र एउटा छोरो जन्माउनेछेस्, र तैँले त्यसको नाम इश्माएल राख्नेछेस् किनकि परमप्रभुले तेरो दुःख सुन्नुभएको छ । मानिसहरूमा त्यो एउटा जङ्गली गधाझैँ हुनेछ ।
12 And he will be a wild man; his hand [will be] against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.
त्यो हरेक मानिसको विरुद्धमा खडा हुनेछ, र हरेक मानिस त्यसको विरूद्धमा लाग्नेछ, र आफ्ना सबै दाजुभाइहरूबाट अलग बस्नेछ ।”
13 And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?
त्यसपछि त्यसले आफूसँग बात गर्नुहुने परमेश्वरका दूतलाई यो नाउँ दिई, “तपाईं मलाई देख्नुहुने परमप्रभु हुनुहुन्छ,” किनकि त्यसले भनी, “के उहाँले मलाई देखिसकेपछि पनि म उहाँलाई साँच्चै देखिरहन्छु?”
14 Wherefore the well was called Beer-lahai-roi; behold, [it is] between Kadesh and Bered.
त्यसैले त्यस इनारको नाउँ बेअर-लहै-रोइ राखियो, जुन कादेश र बेरेदको बिचमा पर्छ ।
15 And Hagar bare Abram a son: and Abram called his son’s name, which Hagar bare, Ishmael.
हागारले अब्रामको छोरो जन्माई, अनि हागारले जन्माएको छोरोको नाम अब्रामले इश्माएल राखे ।
16 And Abram [was] fourscore and six years old, when Hagar bare Ishmael to Abram.
हागारले अब्रामको निम्ति छोरो जन्माउँदा अब्राम छयासी वर्षका थिए ।
