Ezra 7
1 Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,
Después de esto, en el reinado de Artajerjes, rey de Persia, Esdras, hijo de Seraías, hijo de Azarías, hijo de Hilcías,
2 The son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,
hijo de Salum, hijo de Sadoc, hijo de Ajitub,
3 The son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth,
hijo de Amarías hijo de Azarías, hijo de Meraiot,
4 The son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,
hijo de Zerahías, hijo de Uzi, hijo de Bukki,
5 The son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest:
hijo de Abisúa, hijo de Finehas, hijo de Eleazar, hijo de Aarón, el sumo sacerdote —
6 This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he [was] a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him.
este Esdras subió de Babilonia. Era un escriba experto en la ley de Moisés, que Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, había dado; y el rey le concedió toda su petición, según la mano de Yahvé, su Dios, sobre él.
7 And there went up [some] of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims, unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.
Algunos de los hijos de Israel, entre ellos algunos de los sacerdotes, los levitas, los cantores, los porteros y los servidores del templo, subieron a Jerusalén en el séptimo año del rey Artajerjes.
8 And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which [was] in the seventh year of the king.
Llegó a Jerusalén en el quinto mes, que era el séptimo año del rey.
9 For upon the first [day] of the first month began he to go up from Babylon, and on the first [day] of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.
Porque el primer día del primer mes comenzó a subir de Babilonia, y el primer día del quinto mes llegó a Jerusalén, según la buena mano de su Dios sobre él.
10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do [it], and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.
Porque Esdras había puesto su corazón en buscar la ley de Yahvé y en ponerla en práctica, y en enseñar los estatutos y los reglamentos en Israel.
11 Now this [is] the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave unto Ezra the priest, the scribe, [even] a scribe of the words of the commandments of the LORD, and of his statutes to Israel.
Esta es la copia de la carta que el rey Artajerjes dio al sacerdote Esdras, el escriba de las palabras de los mandamientos de Yahvé y de sus estatutos para Israel:
12 Artaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra the priest, a scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect [peace], and at such a time.
Artajerjes, rey de reyes, Al sacerdote Esdras, el escriba de la ley del Dios perfecto del cielo. Ahora bien,
13 I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and [of] his priests and Levites, in my realm, which are minded of their own freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with thee.
yo decreto que todos los del pueblo de Israel y sus sacerdotes y los levitas de mi reino, que tengan la intención de ir por su propia voluntad a Jerusalén, vayan con vosotros.
14 Forasmuch as thou art sent of the king, and of his seven counsellors, to enquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which [is] in thine hand;
Porque habéis sido enviados por el rey y sus siete consejeros para investigar sobre Judá y Jerusalén, según la ley de vuestro Dios que está en vuestra mano,
15 And to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors have freely offered unto the God of Israel, whose habitation [is] in Jerusalem,
y para llevar la plata y el oro que el rey y sus consejeros han ofrecido voluntariamente al Dios de Israel, cuya morada está en Jerusalén,
16 And all the silver and gold that thou canst find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill offering of the people, and of the priests, offering willingly for the house of their God which [is] in Jerusalem:
y toda la plata y el oro que encontraréis en toda la provincia de Babilonia, con la ofrenda voluntaria del pueblo y de los sacerdotes, ofreciendo voluntariamente para la casa de su Dios que está en Jerusalén.
17 That thou mayest buy speedily with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their meat offerings and their drink offerings, and offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which [is] in Jerusalem.
Por lo tanto, con toda diligencia comprarás con este dinero toros, carneros y corderos con sus ofrendas de comida y sus libaciones, y los ofrecerás en el altar de la casa de tu Dios que está en Jerusalén.
18 And whatsoever shall seem good to thee, and to thy brethren, to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do after the will of your God.
Lo que os parezca bien a vosotros y a vuestros hermanos hacer con el resto de la plata y del oro, hacedlo según la voluntad de vuestro Dios.
19 The vessels also that are given thee for the service of the house of thy God, [those] deliver thou before the God of Jerusalem.
Los utensilios que se te den para el servicio de la casa de tu Dios, entrégalos ante el Dios de Jerusalén.
20 And whatsoever more shall be needful for the house of thy God, which thou shalt have occasion to bestow, bestow [it] out of the king’s treasure house.
Todo lo que se necesite para la casa de tu Dios, y que tengas ocasión de dar, dalo de la casa del tesoro del rey.
21 And I, [even] I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers which [are] beyond the river, that whatsoever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done speedily,
Yo, el rey Artajerjes, decreto a todos los tesoreros que están al otro lado del río, que todo lo que el sacerdote Esdras, escriba de la ley del Dios del cielo, os pida, lo hagáis con toda diligencia,
22 Unto an hundred talents of silver, and to an hundred measures of wheat, and to an hundred baths of wine, and to an hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing [how much].
hasta cien talentos de plata, y hasta cien cors de trigo, y hasta cien baños de vino, y hasta cien baños de aceite, y sal sin prescribir cuánto.
23 Whatsoever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be diligently done for the house of the God of heaven: for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?
Todo lo que sea ordenado por el Dios del cielo, hágase exactamente para la casa del Dios del cielo; porque ¿por qué habría de haber ira contra el reino del rey y de sus hijos?
24 Also we certify you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll, tribute, or custom, upon them.
También les informamos que no será lícito imponer tributo, costumbre o peaje a ninguno de los sacerdotes, levitas, cantores, porteros, servidores del templo o trabajadores de esta casa de Dios.
25 And thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God, that [is] in thine hand, set magistrates and judges, which may judge all the people that [are] beyond the river, all such as know the laws of thy God; and teach ye them that know [them] not.
Tú, Esdras, según la sabiduría de tu Dios que está en tu mano, nombra magistrados y jueces que puedan juzgar a todo el pueblo que está al otro lado del río, que todos conozcan las leyes de tu Dios; y enseña al que no las conozca.
26 And whosoever will not do the law of thy God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily upon him, whether [it be] unto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.
El que no cumpla la ley de tu Dios y la ley del rey, que se ejecute sobre él el juicio con toda diligencia, ya sea a muerte, ya sea a destierro, ya sea a confiscación de bienes, ya sea a prisión.
27 Blessed [be] the LORD God of our fathers, which hath put [such a thing] as this in the king’s heart, to beautify the house of the LORD which [is] in Jerusalem:
Bendito sea Yahvé, el Dios de nuestros padres, que ha puesto algo así en el corazón del rey, para embellecer la casa de Yahvé que está en Jerusalén;
28 And hath extended mercy unto me before the king, and his counsellors, and before all the king’s mighty princes. And I was strengthened as the hand of the LORD my God [was] upon me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.
y ha extendido su bondad conmigo ante el rey y sus consejeros, y ante todos los poderosos príncipes del rey. Me he fortalecido según la mano del Señor, mi Dios, y he reunido a los jefes de Israel para que suban conmigo.
