Ecclesiastes 4
1 So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold the tears of [such as were] oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors [there was] power; but they had no comforter.
ಪುನಃ ನಾನು ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಕೆಳಗೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ದಬ್ಬಾಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನೋಡಿದೆನು: ಹಿಂಸೆಗೊಂಡವರ ಕಣ್ಣೀರನ್ನೂ, ಅವರನ್ನು ಸಂತೈಸುವವರು ಯಾರೂ ಇಲ್ಲದಿರುವುದನ್ನೂ ನೋಡಿದೆನು. ಅಧಿಕಾರವು ಅವರ ದಬ್ಬಾಳಿಕೆಗಾರರ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸಂತೈಸುವವರು ಒಬ್ಬರೂ ಇಲ್ಲ.
2 Wherefore I praised the dead which are already dead more than the living which are yet alive.
ಆದಕಾರಣ ನಾನು ಇದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಜೀವದಿಂದ ಇರುವವರಿಗಿಂತ, ಮೃತಪಟ್ಟವರೇ ಮೇಲು ಎಂದು ನಾನು ತೀರ್ಮಾನಿಸಿದೆ.
3 Yea, better [is he] than both they, which hath not yet been, who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.
ಆದರೆ ಇವರಿಬ್ಬರಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ಇನ್ನೂ ಹುಟ್ಟದೇ, ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಕೆಳಗೆ ನಡೆಯುವ ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಕೃತ್ಯವನ್ನು ನೋಡದಿರುವವನೇ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠನು.
4 Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour. This [is] also vanity and vexation of spirit.
ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಪಡುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರಯಾಸವನ್ನೂ ಸಾಧಿಸುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನೂ ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಇವು ಪರಸ್ಪರ ಮತ್ಸರಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣವೆಂದು ನಾನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡೆನು. ಇದು ಕೂಡ ಗಾಳಿಯನ್ನು ಬೆನ್ನಟ್ಟಿದ ಹಾಗೆ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವೇ.
5 The fool foldeth his hands together, and eateth his own flesh.
ಸುಮ್ಮನೇ ಕೈಕಟ್ಟಿ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡು ಬುದ್ಧಿಹೀನರು, ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಾವೇ ಹಾಳುಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.
6 Better [is] an handful [with] quietness, than both the hands full [with] travail and vexation of spirit.
ಗಾಳಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿಯಲು ಬೆನ್ನಟ್ಟಿದಂತೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಸದಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿದ ಎರಡು ಕೈಗಳಿಂದ ಮಾಡಿದ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕಿಂತ ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಯಿಂದ ಒಂದು ಕೈಯಿಂದ ಮಾಡಿದ ಕೆಲಸವೇ ಲೇಸು.
7 Then I returned, and I saw vanity under the sun.
ಆಗ ಮತ್ತೆ ನಾನು ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಕೆಳಗೆ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾದದ್ಡನ್ನು ಕಂಡೆನು:
8 There is one [alone], and [there is] not a second; yea, he hath neither child nor brother: yet [is there] no end of all his labour; neither is his eye satisfied with riches; neither [saith he], For whom do I labour, and bereave my soul of good? This [is] also vanity, yea, it [is] a sore travail.
ಜೊತೆಗಾರನಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಒಬ್ಬಂಟಿಗನಾದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮಗನಾಗಲಿ, ಸಹೋದರನಾಗಲಿ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೂ ಅವನ ಪ್ರಯಾಸಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊನೆಯಿಲ್ಲ. ತನ್ನ ಸಂಪತ್ತಿನಿಂದ ಅವನ ಕಣ್ಣು ತೃಪ್ತಿ ಹೊಂದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವನು, “ನಾನು ಸುಖಸಂತೋಷವನ್ನು ತೊರೆದು, ಯಾರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಕಷ್ಟಪಡುತ್ತಲೇ ಇದ್ದೇನೆ?” ಎಂದುಕೊಂಡನು. ಇದು ಕೂಡ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವೇ, ಪ್ರಯಾಸದ ಕೆಲಸವೇ ಸರಿ.
9 Two [are] better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
ಒಬ್ಬನಿಗಿಂತ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಲೇಸು, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವರ ಪ್ರಯಾಸಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಪ್ರತಿಫಲವಿದೆ:
10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him [that is] alone when he falleth; for [he hath] not another to help him up.
ಒಬ್ಬನು ಬಿದ್ದರೆ ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬನು ಎತ್ತುವನು. ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಒಬ್ಬೊಂಟಿಗನಾಗಿ ಬಿದ್ದರೆ ಅವನ ಗತಿ ದುರ್ಗತಿಯೇ ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾರೂ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
11 Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm [alone]?
ಇಬ್ಬರು ಜೊತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಲಗಿಕೊಂಡರೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಬೆಚ್ಚಗಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಒಬ್ಬನಷ್ಟೆ ಹೇಗೆ ಬೆಚ್ಚಗಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ?
12 And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
ಒಬ್ಬಂಟಿಗನ ಮೇಲೆ ಜಯ ಸಾಧಿಸಲು, ಇಬ್ಬರು ಎದುರಾಗಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಬಹುದು. ಆದರೆ ಮೂರು ಹುರಿಯ ಹಗ್ಗವು ಬೇಗನೆ ಕಿತ್ತು ಹೋಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
13 Better [is] a poor and a wise child than an old and foolish king, who will no more be admonished.
ಬುದ್ಧಿಯ ಹೇಳಿಕೆಗೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಡದ ಮೂಢ ಮುದಿ ಅರಸನಿಗಿಂತ ಬಡವನಾದರೂ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಯಾದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಯುವಕನೇ ಮೇಲು.
14 For out of prison he cometh to reign; whereas also [he that is] born in his kingdom becometh poor.
ಆ ಯುವಕನು ಸೆರೆಮನೆಯಿಂದ ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನಾಳುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಬಂದಿರಬಹುದು ಅಥವಾ ತನ್ನ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಡ ಪ್ರಜೆಯಾಗಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿರಬಹುದು.
15 I considered all the living which walk under the sun, with the second child that shall stand up in his stead.
ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಜೀವಿಸಿ ನಡೆದಾಡಿದವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಅರಸನ ಪ್ರತಿಯಾಗಿ ಯುವಕನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿದ್ದನ್ನೂ ನಾನು ನೋಡಿದೆನು.
16 [There is] no end of all the people, [even] of all that have been before them: they also that come after shall not rejoice in him. Surely this also [is] vanity and vexation of spirit.
ಇವನ ಆಧಿಪತ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳಪಟ್ಟ ಜನರ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯು ಅಪಾರ. ಆದರೆ ಯುವಕನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯ ಮುಂಚೆ ಇದ್ದವರು ಮತ್ತು ತರುವಾಯ ಬಂದವರು ಇವನನ್ನು ಮೆಚ್ಚಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಇದು ಸಹ ಗಾಳಿಯನ್ನು ಬೆನ್ನಟ್ಟಿದಂತೆ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವೇ.
