Deuteronomy 8
1 All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers.
१आज मी दिलेल्या सर्व आज्ञांचे पालन करा. कारण त्याने तुम्ही जगाल, आणि बहुगुणित व्हाल व तुमच्या पूर्वजांना परमेश्वराने कबूल केलेल्या प्रदेशात प्रवेश करून तो तुम्ही ताब्यात घ्याल.
2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, [and] to prove thee, to know what [was] in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.
२तसेच गेली चाळीस वर्षे आपल्या परमेश्वर देवाने तुम्हास रानावनातून कसे चालवले, त्या प्रवासाची आठवण ठेवा. परमेश्वर तुमची परीक्षा पाहत होता. तुम्हास नम्र करावे, तुमच्या अंत: करणातील गोष्टी जाणून घ्याव्या, तुम्ही त्याच्या आज्ञा पाळता की नाही ते बघावे म्हणून त्याने हे केले.
3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every [word] that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
३परमेश्वराने तुम्हास लीन केले, तुमची उपासमार होऊ दिली आणि मग, तुम्ही व तुमचे पूर्वज यांना माहीत नसलेला मान्ना तुम्हास खाऊ घातला. मनुष्य फक्त भाकरीवर जगत नाही, तर परमेश्वराच्या मुखातून निघणाऱ्या हर एक वचनाने जगतो हे तुम्हास कळावे, म्हणून त्याने हे सर्व केले.
4 Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.
४गेल्या चाळीस वर्षात तुमचे कपडे जीर्ण झाले नाहीत की तुमचे पाय सुजले नाहीत. का बरे? कारण परमेश्वराने तुमचे रक्षण केले.
5 Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, [so] the LORD thy God chasteneth thee.
५तुमचा देव परमेश्वर ह्याने तुमच्यासाठी या सर्व गोष्टी केल्या आहेत ह्याची आठवण तुम्ही ठेवलीच पाहिजे. बाप आपल्या मुलाला शिकवतो, त्याच्यावर संस्कार करतो तसा तुमचा देव परमेश्वर तुम्हास आहे.
6 Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.
६तुमचा देव परमेश्वर ह्याच्या आज्ञा पाळा, त्यास अनुसरा आणि त्याच्याबद्दल भय धरून आदर बाळगा.
7 For the LORD thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills;
७तुमचा देव परमेश्वर तुम्हास उत्तम देशात घेऊन जात आहे. ती भूमी सुजला, सुफला आहे. तेथे डोंगरात उगम पावून जमिनीवर वाहणारे नद्या-नाले आहेत.
8 A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey;
८ही जमीन गहू, जव, द्राक्षमळे, अंजीर, डाळिंब यांनी समृद्ध आहे. येथे जैतून तेल, मध यांची रेलचेल आहे.
9 A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any [thing] in it; a land whose stones [are] iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass.
९येथे मुबलक धान्य आहे. कोणत्याही गोष्टीची तुम्हास उणीव नाही. येथील दगड लोहयुक्त आहेत. तुम्हास डोंगरातील तांबे खोदून काढता येईल.
10 When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.
१०तेव्हा तुम्ही खाऊन तृप्त व्हावे आणि असा चांगला प्रदेश दिल्याबद्दल तुमचा देव परमेश्वर ह्याचे गुणगान गावे.
11 Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:
११सावध असा! तुमचा देव परमेश्वर याचा विसर पडू देऊ नका! मी दिलेल्या आज्ञा नियम, विधी, यांचे कटाक्षाने पालन करा.
12 Lest [when] thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt [therein; ]
१२त्यामुळे तुम्हास अन्नधान्याची कमतरता पडणार नाही. तुम्ही चांगली घरे बांधून त्यामध्ये रहाल.
13 And [when] thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;
१३तुमची गुरेढोरे आणि शेळ्यामेंढ्या यांची संख्या वाढेल. सोनेरुपे आणि मालमत्ता वाढेल.
14 Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;
१४या भरभराटीने उन्मत्त होऊ नका. आपला देव परमेश्वर याला विसरु नका. मिसरमध्ये तुम्ही गुलाम होता. परंतु मिसरमधून परमेश्वराने तुमची सुटका केली व बाहेर आणले.
15 Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, [wherein were] fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where [there was] no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;
१५विषारी नाग आणि विंचू असलेल्या निर्जल, रखरखीत अशा भयंकर रानातून त्याने तुम्हास आणले. त्याने तुमच्यासाठी खडकातून पाणी काढले.
16 Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end;
१६तुमच्या पूर्वजांनी कधीही न पाहिलेला मान्ना तुम्हास खायला घालून पोषण केले. परमेश्वराने तुमची परीक्षा पाहिली. शेवटी तुमचे भले व्हावे म्हणून परमेश्वराने तुम्हास नम्र केले.
17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of [mine] hand hath gotten me this wealth.
१७हे धन मी माझ्या बळावर आणि कुवतीवर मिळवले असे चुकूनसुद्धा मनात आणू नका.
18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for [it is] he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as [it is] this day.
१८तुमचा देव परमेश्वर याचे स्मरण ठेवा. त्यानेच तुम्हास हे सामर्थ्य दिले हे लक्षात ठेवा. त्याने तरी हे का केले? कारण आजच्याप्रमाणेच त्याने तुमच्या पूर्वजांशी पवित्र करार केला होता, तोच तो पाळत आहे.
19 And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.
१९तेव्हा आपला देव परमेश्वर ह्याला विसरु नका. इतर दैवतांना अनुसरू नका. त्यांची पूजी किंवा सेवा करु नका. तसे केलेत तर तुमचा नाश ठरलेलाच आहे, ही ताकीद मी आताच तुम्हास देऊन ठेवतो.
20 As the nations which the LORD destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the LORD your God.
२०ज्या राष्ट्रांचा नाश परमेश्वर तुमच्यासमोर करणार आहे त्यांच्याप्रमाणेच तुम्हीही नाश पावाल, कारण तुम्ही आपला देव परमेश्वर ह्याची वाणी ऐकली नाही.
