< Deuteronomy 6 >

1 Now these [are] the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do [them] in the land whither ye go to possess it:
“Ko e ngaahi fekau eni, mo e tuʻutuʻuni, mo e ngaahi fakamaau, ʻaia naʻe fekau ʻe Sihova ko homou ʻOtua ke ako ʻaki kiate kimoutolu, koeʻuhi ke mou fai ki ai ʻi he fonua ʻaia ʻoku mou ʻalu ki ai ke maʻu:
2 That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
Koeʻuhi ke ke manavahē kia Sihova, ko ho ʻOtua, ke tauhi ʻene ngaahi tuʻutuʻuni kotoa pē, mo ʻene ngaahi fekau, ʻaia ʻoku ou fekau ai kiate koe, ʻa koe, mo ho foha, mo e foha ʻo ho foha, ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho kotoa pē ʻo hoʻo moʻui; pea koeʻuhi ke fakatolonga ai ho ngaahi ʻaho.
3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do [it; ] that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.
Ko ia ke ke fanongo, ʻE ʻIsileli, pea tokanga ke fai ki ai: koeʻuhi ke hoko ai ʻae lelei kiate koe, pea ke mou tupu ʻo tokolahi ʻaupito, ʻo hangē ko e talaʻofa kiate koe meia Sihova ko e ʻOtua ʻo hoʻo ngaahi tamai, ʻi he fonua ʻoku mahutafea ʻi he huʻahuhu mo e honi.
4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God [is] one LORD:
Fanongo, ʻE ʻIsileli: Ko Sihova ko hotau ʻOtua ko Sihova tafataha pe ia,
5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
Pea te ke ʻofa kia Sihova ko ho ʻOtua ʻaki ho loto kotoa, mo hoʻo moʻui kotoa, mo ho mālohi kotoa.
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
Pea ko e ngaahi lea ni, ʻaia ʻoku ou fekau kiate koe he ʻaho ni, ʻe ʻi ho loto ia:
7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Pea te ke faʻa ako ʻaki ia ki hoʻo fānau, pea te ke talanoa ʻaki ia ʻoka ke ka nofo ʻi ho fale, pea ʻoka ke ka ʻalu ʻi he hala, pea ʻoka ke ka tokoto hifo, pea ʻoka ke ka tuʻu hake.
8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
Pea te ke nonoʻo ia ki ho nima ko e fakaʻilonga, pea ʻe hoko ia ko e pale ʻi he vahaʻa ʻo ho mata.
9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
Pea te ke tohi ia ki he ngaahi pou ʻo ho fale, pea ki ho ngaahi matapā.
10 And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not,
Pea ʻe pehē, ʻoka hili hono ʻomi koe ʻe Sihova ko ho ʻOtua ki he fonua ʻaia naʻa ne fuakava ai ki hoʻo ngaahi tamai, kia ʻEpalahame, kia ʻAisake, pea kia Sēkope, ke foaki kiate koe ʻae ngaahi kolo lahi mo lelei, ʻaia naʻe ʻikai te ke langa,
11 And houses full of all good [things], which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full;
Mo e ngaahi fale kuo fonu ʻi he ngaahi meʻa lelei, ʻaia naʻe ʻikai te ke fakafonu, mo e ngaahi vai keli, naʻe ʻikai te ke keli, ʻae ngaahi ngoue vaine mo e ngaahi ʻolive, ʻaia naʻe ʻikai te ke tō; hili hoʻo kai pea ke mākona;
12 [Then] beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
Vakai telia naʻa ke fakangaloʻi ʻa Sihova, ʻaia naʻa ne ʻomi koe mei he fonua ko ʻIsipite, mei he fale fakapōpula.
13 Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
Ke ke manavahē kia Sihova ko ho ʻOtua, ʻo tauhi ia, pea ke fuakava ʻi hono huafa.
14 Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which [are] round about you;
‌ʻOua naʻa mou muimui ki he ngaahi ʻotua kehe, ʻi he ngaahi ʻotua ʻoe kakai ʻaia ʻoku nofo takatakai ʻiate kimoutolu;
15 (For the LORD thy God [is] a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
(He ko Sihova ko ho ʻOtua ko e ʻOtua fuaʻa ia ʻiate kimoutolu, ) telia naʻa tupu ʻae houhau ʻo Sihova ko ho ʻOtua kiate koe, ʻo ne fakaʻauha koe mei he funga ʻo māmani.
16 Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted [him] in Massah.
“ʻOua naʻa mou ʻahiʻahi kovi kia Sihova ko homou ʻOtua, ʻo hangē ko homou ʻahiʻahi kovi ʻi Masa.
17 Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.
Ke mou tauhi manavakavakava ʻae ngaahi fekau ʻa Sihova ko homou ʻOtua, mo ʻene ngaahi fakamoʻoni, mo ʻene ngaahi tuʻutuʻuni, ʻaia kuo ne fekau kiate koe.
18 And thou shalt do [that which is] right and good in the sight of the LORD: that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers,
Pea te ke fai totonu mo lelei ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova: koeʻuhi ke hoko ai ʻae lelei kiate koe, pea koeʻuhi ke ke hoko ʻo maʻu ʻae fonua lelei ʻaia naʻe fuakava ki ai ʻe Sihova ki hoʻo ngaahi tamai,
19 To cast out all thine enemies from before thee, as the LORD hath spoken.
Ke kapusi kituaʻā ʻa ho ngaahi fili mei ho ʻao, ʻo hangē ko e folofola ʻa Sihova.
20 [And] when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What [mean] the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD our God hath commanded you?
Pea ka fehuʻi ʻe ho foha kiate koe ʻamui, ʻo pehē, ‘Ko e hā hono ʻuhinga ʻoe ngaahi fakamoʻoni ni, mo e ngaahi tuʻutuʻuni, mo e ngaahi fakamaau, ʻaia kuo fekau ʻe Sihova ko hotau ʻOtua kiate kimoutolu?’
21 Then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh’s bondmen in Egypt; and the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand:
Te ke toki pehē ki ho foha, ‘Naʻa mau nofo ko e kau pōpula ʻa Felo ʻi ʻIsipite: pea naʻe ʻomi ʻakimautolu ʻe Sihova mei ʻIsipite ʻaki ʻae nima mālohi:
22 And the LORD shewed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes:
Pea naʻe fakahā ʻe Sihova ʻae ngaahi fakaʻilonga, mo e ngaahi meʻa mana, naʻe lahi mo fakamamahi ki ʻIsipite, pea kia Felo, pea ki hono kakai, ʻi homau ʻao:
23 And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers.
24 And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as [it is] at this day.
Pea naʻe fekau ʻe Sihova ke mau fai ʻae ngaahi tuʻutuʻuni ni, ke manavahē kia Sihova ko hotau ʻOtua, ketau lelei ai maʻuaipē, koeʻuhi ke ne fakatolonga ʻetau moʻui, ʻo hangē ko ia he ʻaho ni.
25 And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.
Pea ʻe hoko ia ko ʻetau māʻoniʻoni, ʻo kapau te tau tokanga ʻo fai ki he ngaahi fekau ni kotoa pē ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova ko hotau ʻOtua, ʻo hangē ko ʻene fekau kiate kitautolu.’
