< Deuteronomy 20 >

1 When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and seest horses, and chariots, [and] a people more than thou, be not afraid of them: for the LORD thy God [is] with thee, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
Inton mapankayo makigubat kadagiti kabusoryo, ket makitayo dagiti kabalio, lugan a panggubat, ken ad-adu a tattao ngem kadakayo, masapul a saankayo nga agbuteng kadakuada; ta adda ni Yahweh a Diosyo kadakayo, a nangiruar kadakayo manipud iti daga ti Egipto.
2 And it shall be, when ye are come nigh unto the battle, that the priest shall approach and speak unto the people,
Inton asidegkayon a makigubat, masapul nga umasideg ti padi ken agsao kadagiti tattao,
3 And shall say unto them, Hear, O Israel, ye approach this day unto battle against your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them;
ket ibagana kadakuada, 'Dumngegkayo, Israel, ita nga aldaw, asidegkayon a makigubat kadagiti kabusoryo; saan koma a maupay dagiti pusoyo; saankayo nga agbuteng, wenno agpigerger, wenno agbuteng kadakuada;
4 For the LORD your God [is] he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.
ta kumuyog ni Yahweh a Diosyo kadakayo a makiranget kadagiti kabusoryo ken mangisalakan kadakayo.'
5 And the officers shall speak unto the people, saying, What man [is there] that hath built a new house, and hath not dedicated it? let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man dedicate it.
Masapul nga agsao dagiti opisial kadagiti tattao ket ibagada, “Siasino a lalaki ti adda ditoy a nangipatakder iti baro a balay ket saanna pay a naidaton daytoy? Palubosanyo isuna nga agsubli iti balayna, tapno saan isuna a matay iti paggugubatan ket sabali a lalaki ti mangidaton iti daytoy.
6 And what man [is he] that hath planted a vineyard, and hath not [yet] eaten of it? let him [also] go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man eat of it.
Siasino a lalaki ti nagmula iti kaubasan ken saanna pay a napagnumaran ti bunga dagitoy? Palubosanyo isuna nga agsubli iti balayna, tapno saan isuna a matay iti paggugubatan ket sabali a lalaki ti agnumar iti bunga dagitoy.
7 And what man [is there] that hath betrothed a wife, and hath not taken her? let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her.
Siasino a lalaki ti adda ditoy a naitulag a makiasawa iti maysa a babai ngem saanna pay a naasawa isuna? Palubosanyo isuna nga agsubli iti balayna tapno saan isuna a matay iti paggugubatan ket sabali a lalaki ti mangasawa kenkuana.'
8 And the officers shall speak further unto the people, and they shall say, What man [is there that is] fearful and fainthearted? let him go and return unto his house, lest his brethren’s heart faint as well as his heart.
Masapul nga agsao pay dagiti opisial kadagiti tattao ket kunada, 'Siasino a lalaki ti adda ditoy a managbuteng wenno maup-upay ti pusona? Palubosanyo isuna nga agsubli iti balayna, tapno saan a marunaw ti puso ti kabsatna a kasla iti pusona.'
9 And it shall be, when the officers have made an end of speaking unto the people, that they shall make captains of the armies to lead the people.
Inton nalpasen ti panagsao dagiti opisial kadagiti tattao, masapul a mangdutokda kadagiti mangidaulo kadakuada.
10 When thou comest nigh unto a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace unto it.
Inton mapanyo rauten ti maysa a siudad, idiayayo ti pannakikapia kadagitoy a tattao.
11 And it shall be, if it make thee answer of peace, and open unto thee, then it shall be, [that] all the people [that is] found therein shall be tributaries unto thee, and they shall serve thee.
No awatenda ti idiayayo ket ilukatandakayo iti ruangan, masapul nga inkapilitan nga agtrabaho para kadakayo dagiti amin tattao a masarakan iti daytoy ken masapul nga agserbida kadakayo.
12 And if it will make no peace with thee, but will make war against thee, then thou shalt besiege it:
Ngem no saan daytoy a makikapia kadakayo, ngem makigubatda ketdi kadakayo, masapul ngarud a lakubenyo daytoy,
13 And when the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword:
ket inton pagballigiennakayo ni Yahweh a Diosyo ken ipaiturayanna ida kadakayo, masapul a papatayenyo ti tunggal lalaki iti ili.
14 But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, [even] all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself; and thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.
Ngem dagiti babbai, dagiti ubbing, dagiti ayup, ken amin nga adda iti siudad, ken amin a masamsam ditoy, alaenyonto a kas sinamsamyo. Usarenyonto dagiti sinamsam dagiti kabusoryo, nga inted ni Yahweh a Diosyo kadakayo.
15 Thus shalt thou do unto all the cities [which are] very far off from thee, which [are] not of the cities of these nations.
Masapul nga agtignaykayo iti kastoy a wagas kadagiti amin a siudad nga adayo unay kadakayo, dagiti siudad a saan a dagiti siudad kadagitoy sumaganad a nasion.
16 But of the cities of these people, which the LORD thy God doth give thee [for] an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth:
Kadagiti siudad dagitoy a tattao nga it-ited ni Yahweh a Diosyo kadakayo a kas tawidyo, masapul nga awan ibatiyo nga agang-anges.
17 But thou shalt utterly destroy them; [namely], the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee:
Ngem ketdi, masapul a dadaelenyo ida a naan-anay: dagiti Heteo, ken dagiti Amorreo, dagiti Cananeo, dagiti Perezeo, dagiti Heveo ken dagiti Jebuseo a kas imbilin ni Yahweh a Diosyo kadakayo.
18 That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; so should ye sin against the LORD your God.
Aramidenyo daytoy tapno saandakayo a suroan nga agaramid iti aniaman kadagiti makarimon a wagasda, a kas inaramidda kadagiti didiosenda. No aramidenyo, agbasolkayonto kenni Yahweh a Diosyo.
19 When thou shalt besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, thou shalt not destroy the trees thereof by forcing an axe against them: for thou mayest eat of them, and thou shalt not cut them down (for the tree of the field [is] man’s [life]) to employ [them] in the siege:
Inton lakubenyo ti maysa a siudad iti nabayag a panawen, a kas iti pannakigubatyo iti daytoy tapno masakupyo, masapul a saanyo a dadaelen dagiti kaykayo daytoy babaen iti panangwasayyo kadagitoy. Ta mabalinyo ti mangan manipud kadagitoy, isu a masapul a saanyo a pukanen dagitoy. Ta tao kadi ti kayo iti taltalon a nasken a lakubenyo?
20 Only the trees which thou knowest that they [be] not trees for meat, thou shalt destroy and cut them down; and thou shalt build bulwarks against the city that maketh war with thee, until it be subdued.
Dagiti laeng kaykayo nga ammoyo a saan a mabalin a kanen, mabalinyo a dadaelen ken pukanen dagitoy; mangbangonkayonto iti sarikedked a maibusor iti siudad a makigubat kadakayo, agingga a marba daytoy.
