Colossians 3
1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Wenn also ihr mit Christus auferweckt seid, dann suchet, was droben ist, wo Christus sitzt zur Rechten Gottes.
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
Denkt an das, was droben ist, und nicht an das, was irdisch ist.
3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
Ihr seid ja gestorben, und euer Leben ist mit Christus in Gott verborgen.
4 When Christ, [who is] our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
Erscheint dann einmal Christus, unser Leben, dann werdet ihr gleichfalls mit ihm in Herrlichkeit erscheinen.
5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
So ertötet denn die irdischen Glieder: Unzucht, Unkeuschheit, Leidenschaftlichkeit, böse Lust und Habsucht, die Götzendienst sind.
6 For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
Um solcher Dinge willen kommt der Zorn Gottes auf die Kinder des Ungehorsams.
7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
Auch ihr waret diesen Dingen einstens untertan, als ihr noch unter ihnen lebtet.
8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
Jetzt aber sollt auch ihr das alles ablegen: Zorn, Erbitterung, Bosheit, Lästerung und Zoten aus eurem Munde.
9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
Belügt einander nicht! Ihr habt ja den alten Menschen samt seinen Werken völlig ausgezogen
10 And have put on the new [man], which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
und den neuen angezogen, der nach dem Bilde seines Schöpfers ständig erneuert wird zur vollen Erkenntnis.
11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond [nor] free: but Christ [is] all, and in all.
Da heißt es dann nicht mehr Heide und Jude, Beschnittener und Unbeschnittener; Barbar und Skythe; Sklave und Freier; nein, nur mehr Christus in jeder Beziehung und bei allen.
12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
Kleidet euch als Gottes Auserwählte, als Heilige und Geliebte mit herzlichem Erbarmen, mit Güte, Demut, Sanftmut und Geduld.
13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also [do] ye.
Ertragt einander und verzeiht euch gegenseitig gern, wenn einer ob des anderen zu klagen hat. Wie der Herr gnädig euch vergeben hat, so sollt ihr auch tun.
14 And above all these things [put on] charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
Doch über all dies legt die Liebe an; das ist das Band der Vollendung.
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
Der Friede Christi herrsche in euren Herzen; zu ihm seid ihr berufen als ein einziger Leib. Und seid dankbar.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Christi Wort wohne bei euch in seiner ganzen Fülle. Belehrt und ermuntert euch in aller Weisheit! Lobsingt in Dankbarkeit des Herzens Gott mit Psalmen, Hymnen und geistlichen Gesängen.
17 And what soever ye do in word or deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
Was immer ihr tut in Wort und Werk, das alles tut im Namen des Herrn Jesus und dankt durch ihn Gott, dem Vater.
18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
Ihr Frauen, seid euren Männern untertan. So ziemt es sich im Herrn.
19 Husbands, love [your] wives, and be not bitter against them.
Ihr Männer, liebet eure Frauen und laßt euch nicht gegen sie erbittern.
20 Children, obey [your] parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
Ihr Kinder, gehorchet in allem euren Eltern; denn daran hat der Herr sein Wohlgefallen.
21 Fathers, provoke not your children [to anger], lest they be discouraged.
Ihr Väter, erbittert eure Kinder nicht, damit sie nicht mutlos werden.
22 Servants, obey in all things [your] masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:
Ihr Sklaven, seid euren irdischen Herrn in allem untertan, nicht als Augendiener, die den Menschen gefallen wollen, sondern mit aufrichtigem Herzen in der Furcht des Herrn.
23 And what soever ye do, do [it] heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Was immer ihr tut, das tut von Herzen gern, wie wenn es für den Herrn geschähe und nicht für Menschen.
24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
Ihr wisset ja, daß ihr das Erbe vom Herrn als Lohn erhalten werdet. Dient dem Herrn Christus!
25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.
Wer Unrecht tut, wird für sein Unrecht bestraft; da gilt kein Ansehen der Person.
