Acts 8
1 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judæa and Samaria, except the apostles.
掃祿也贊同殺死他。就在那一日，發生了嚴厲迫害耶路撒冷教會的事；除宗徒外，眾人都逃散到猶太和撒瑪黎雅鄉間。
2 And devout men carried Stephen [to his burial], and made great lamentation over him.
虔誠的人共同埋葬了斯德望，也為他大哭了一場。
3 As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed [them] to prison.
掃祿想摧毀教會，進入各家，連男帶女都拉去，押到監裏。
4 Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.
那些逃散的人經過各處，宣講真道的喜訊。
5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
斐理伯下到撒瑪黎雅城，給他們宣講基督。
6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
群眾都留意斐理伯所講的話，都同心合意地聽教，並看到了他所行的奇蹟。
7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed [with them]: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.
因為有許多附了邪魔的人，邪魔從他們身上大聲喊叫著出去了。有許多癱瘓和瘸子也被治好了。
8 And there was great joy in that city.
為此，那城裏的人皆大歡喜。
9 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:
有一個人，名叫西滿，曾在這城中行過邪術，使撒瑪黎雅的百姓驚服，並稱自己是一位大人物。
10 To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.
所有的人，從上到下，都聽從他，說：「這人就是那稱為神的大能者。」
11 And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.
他們聽從他，是因為他很久以來，就用邪術使他們驚服；
12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
但當他們信服了那傳報天主的國，和耶穌基督名字的斐理伯時，男女就都受了洗，
13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
連西滿自己也信服了。他受洗以後，常隨從斐理伯；他看到所顯的奇蹟和大能，稱奇不止。
14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
當時，在耶路撒冷的宗徒，聽說撒瑪黎雅接受了天主的聖道，便打發伯多祿和若望往他們那裏去。
15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
他們二人一到，就為他們祈禱，使他們領受聖神，
16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
因為聖神還沒有降臨在任何人身上，他們只因主耶穌的名受過洗。
17 Then laid they [their] hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
那時，宗徒便給他們覆手，他們就領受了聖神。
18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
西滿看見藉宗徒們的覆手，賦給人聖神，遂獻給他們銀錢，
19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
說：「你們也把這個權柄交給我，為叫我無論給誰覆手，誰就領受聖神。」
20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
伯多祿卻向他說：「願你的銀錢與你一起喪亡！因為你想天主的恩賜可用銀錢買得。
21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
在這事上，你沒有股，也沒有分，因為你在天主前心懷不正。
22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.
所以，你該回心轉意，擺脫你這個惡念，祈求主，或者可給你赦免你心中的妄想，
23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and [in] the bond of iniquity.
因為我明知你心懷苦毒，並在邪惡的束縛中。」
24 Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.
西滿回答說：「請你們為我祈求主，好叫你們所說的，一點也不要降在我身上。」
25 And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.
二宗徒既作了證，並宣講了主的聖道，就返回耶路撒冷，一路在撒瑪黎雅人的許多鄉村中，宣講了福音。
26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
上主的天使向斐理伯說：「起來，往南行，沿著由耶路撒冷下到迦薩的路走，即曠野中的那條路。」
27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
他就起來去了。看，有個厄提約丕雅人，是厄提約丕雅女王甘達刻的有權勢的太監，也是她寶庫的總管；他曾來到耶路撒冷朝聖。
28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.
他回去的時候，坐在車上誦讀依撒意亞先知。
29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
聖神就向斐理伯說：「你上前去，走近這輛車子！」
30 And Philip ran thither to [him], and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
斐理伯就跑過去，聽見他誦讀依撒意亞先知，便說道： 「你明白所誦讀的嗎﹖」
31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
他答說：「若沒有人指教我，怎麼能夠﹖」於是，請斐理伯上車與他同坐。
32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
他所誦讀的那段經正是：『他如同被牽去宰殺的羊，又像羔羊在剪毛者前緘默，他也同樣不開口。
33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
在他屈辱之時，無人為他申辯。誰能描述他的後代呢﹖因為他的生命從地上被奪去了。』
34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
太監向斐理伯發言說：「請你說： 先知說這話是指誰呢﹖是指自己或是指別人﹖」
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
斐理伯便開口，從這段經文開始，給他宣講了耶穌的福音。
36 And as they went on [their] way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, [here is] water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
他們沿路前行的時候，來到了一個有水的地方，那太監就說：「看，這裏有水；還有什麼阻擋我受洗呢﹖」
37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
[斐理伯答說：「你若全心相信，便可以。」他答說：「我信耶穌基督就是天主子。」]
38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
他就命車停住，斐理伯和太監兩人下到水中，斐理伯給他付了洗。
39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
當他們從水中上來的時候，主的神把斐理伯提去，太監就再看不見他了。他就喜喜歡歡地往前行自己的路。
40 But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Cæsarea.
斐理伯卻出現在阿左托，以後經過各城，宣講福音，直到凱撒勒雅。
