Acts 28
1 And when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita.
૧આ રીતે અમારો બચાવ થયા પછી અમે જાણ્યું કે તે ટાપુનું નામ માલ્ટા હતું.
2 And the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.
૨ત્યાંના વતનીઓએ અમારા પર ખૂબ પ્રેમ દર્શાવ્યો. કેમ કે તે વખતે વરસાદ વરસતો હતો અને ઠંડી પડતી હતી તેથી અગ્નિ સળગાવીને તેઓએ અમારા સર્વનો આવકાર કર્યો.
3 And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid [them] on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.
૩પાઉલે થોડાંક લાકડાં એકઠાં કરીને અગ્નિમાં નાખ્યાં, ત્યારે ગરમીને લીધે એક સર્પ તેમાંથી નીકળીને તેને હાથે વીંટળાઈ ગયો.
4 And when the barbarians saw the [venomous] beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.
૪ત્યાંના વતનીઓએ તે પ્રાણીને તેના હાથ પર લટકતો જોઈને એક બીજાને કહ્યું કે, નિશ્ચે આ માણસ ખૂની છે, જો કે સમુદ્રમાંથી એ બચી ગયો છે ખરો, તોપણ ન્યાય એને જીવવા દેતો નથી.
5 And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.
૫પણ તેણે તે પ્રાણીને અગ્નિમાં ઝાટકી નાખ્યો, અને તેને કંઈ ઈજા થઈ નહિ.
6 Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.
૬પણ તેઓ ધારતા હતા કે, તેનો હાથ હમણાં સૂજી જશે, અથવા તે એકાએક પડીને મરી જશે, પણ ઘણી વાર રાહ જોયા પછી તેઓએ જોયું કે તેને કશું નુકસાન થયું નથી, ત્યારે તેઓએ વિચાર ફેરવીને કહ્યું કે, તે કોઈ દેવ છે.
7 In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously.
૭હવે તે ટાપુના પબ્લિયુસ નામના મુખ્ય માણસની જમીન તે જગ્યાની નજદીક હતી, તેણે અમારો ઉમળકાભેર આવકાર કરીને ત્રણ દિવસ સુધી મિત્રભાવથી અમારી પરોણાગત કરી.
8 And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.
૮તે વેળાએ પબ્લિયુસના પિતાને તાવ આવ્યો હતો. અને મરડો થયો હતો, પાઉલ તેની પાસે અંદર ગયો, પછી પાઉલે પ્રાર્થના કરી, તેના પર પોતાના હાથ મૂકીને તેને સાજો કર્યો.
9 So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:
૯આ બનાવ પછી ટાપુમાંનાં અન્ય રોગીઓ પણ આવ્યા અને તેઓને સાજા કરાયા.
10 Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded [us] with such things as were necessary.
૧૦વળી તેઓએ અમને ઘણું માન આપ્યું, અમે પ્રવાસ શરુ કર્યો ત્યારે અમારે માટે જરૂરી સામગ્રી તેઓએ વહાણમાં મૂકી.
11 And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.
૧૧ત્રણ મહિના પછી આલેકસાંદ્રિયાનું એક વહાણ શિયાળો ગાળવાને તે ટાપુમાં રહ્યું હતું, તેની નિશાની દિયોસ્કુરી હતી, તેમાં બેસીને અમે રવાના થયા.
12 And landing at Syracuse, we tarried [there] three days.
૧૨અમે સિરાકુસ બંદરે ત્રણ દિવસ સુધી રહ્યા.
13 And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli:
૧૩ત્યાંથી અમે વળાંક વળીને રેગિયમ આવ્યા, અને એક દિવસ પછી દક્ષિણનો પવન ફૂંકાવા લાગ્યો, જેથી અમે બીજે દિવસે પુતૌલી આવી પહોંચ્યા.
14 Where we found brethren, and were desired to tarry with them seven days: and so we went toward Rome.
૧૪ત્યાં અમને (વિશ્વાસી) ભાઈઓ મળ્યા, તેઓની સાથે સાત દિવસ સુધી રહેવાને તેઓએ અમને વિનંતી કરી; ત્યાર બાદ અમે રોમમાં આવ્યા.
15 And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.
૧૫રોમમાંના (વિશ્વાસી) ભાઈઓ અમારાં આગમન વિષે સાંભળીને ત્યાંથી આપ્પિયસ બજાર તથા ‘ત્રણ ધર્મશાળા’ નામના સ્થળો સુધી અમને સામેથી મળવા આવ્યા; પાઉલે તેઓને જોઈને ઈશ્વરની સ્તુતિ કરી અને હિંમત રાખી.
16 And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.
૧૬અમે રોમમાં આવ્યા ત્યારે (સૂબેદારે બંદીવાનોને ચોકી કરનારા સરદારને સ્વાધીન કર્યા, પણ) પાઉલને તેના સાચવનાર સિપાઈની સાથે સ્વતંત્રતાથી રહેવાની પરવાનગી મળી.
17 And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men [and] brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.
૧૭ત્રણ દિવસ પછી એમ થયું કે, (પાઉલે) યહૂદીઓના મુખ્ય (આગેવાનોને) બોલાવીને એકત્ર કર્યા અને તેઓને કહ્યું કે, “ભાઈઓ, મેં કોઈનું અહિત કે કોઈની વિરુદ્ધ કશું કર્યું નથી, અને આપણા પૂર્વજોના નીતિનિયમોનો ભંગ પણ કર્યો નથી. તોપણ યરુશાલેમથી રોમન સરકારના હાથમાં મને બંદીવાન તરીકે સોંપવામાં આવેલો છે.
18 Who, when they had examined me, would have let [me] go, because there was no cause of death in me.
૧૮મારી તપાસ કર્યા પછી તેઓ મને છોડી દેવા ઇચ્છતા હતા, કેમ કે મને મોતની શિક્ષા થાય એવું કોઈ કારણ ન હતું.
19 But when the Jews spake against [it], I was constrained to appeal unto Cæsar; not that I had ought to accuse my nation of.
૧૯પણ યહૂદીઓએ વિરોધ કર્યો, ત્યારે કાઈસાર પાસે દાદ માગવાની મને ફરજ પડી; એમાં મારે પોતાના સ્વદેશી ભાઈઓ પર કંઈ દોષ મૂકવાનો હતો એવું ન હતું.
20 For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see [you], and to speak with [you]: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.
૨૦એ જ કારણ માટે મને મળીને મારી સાથે વાત કરવાની મેં આપને વિનંતી કરી, કેમ કે ઇઝરાયલની આશા એટલે કે ખ્રિસ્તને લીધે મને આ સાંકળથી બાંધવામાં આવ્યો છે.
21 And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judæa concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee.
૨૧ત્યારે તેઓએ તેને કહ્યું કે, યહૂદિયામાંથી અમને તારા વિષે કોઈ પત્રો મળ્યા નથી, તેમ જ (અમારા) ભાઈઓમાંથી પણ કોઈએ અહીં આવીને તારા વિષે કંઈ ખરાબ જાહેર કર્યું અથવા કહ્યું નથી.
22 But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.
૨૨પણ તું શું માને છે, તે તારી પાસેથી અમે સાંભળવા ચાહીએ છીએ, કેમ કે લોકો સર્વ જગ્યાએ આ પંથના વિશ્વાસીઓ વિરુદ્ધ બોલે છે તે અમે જાણીએ છીએ.
23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into [his] lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and [out of] the prophets, from morning till evening.
૨૩તેઓએ તેને સારુ એક દિવસ નિયત કર્યો તે દિવસે ઘણા લોકો તેની પાસે તેના ઉતારામાં આવ્યા; તેઓને પાઉલે સાબિતીઓ સાથે ઈશ્વરના રાજ્ય વિષેની સાક્ષી આપી, અને મૂસાના નિયમશાસ્ત્ર તથા પ્રબોધકો ઉપરથી ઈસુ વિષેની વાત સવારથી સાંજ સુધી તેઓને કહી અને સમજાવી.
24 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.
૨૪જે વાતો કહેવામાં આવી તે કેટલાકે માની, અને બાકીનાઓએ માની નહિ.
25 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,
૨૫તેઓ પરસ્પર એક મતના ન થયાથી ચાલ્યા ગયા, પણ તે પહેલાં તેઓને પાઉલે કહ્યું કે, પવિત્ર આત્માએ યશાયા પ્રબોધક મારફતે તમારા પૂર્વજોને સાચું જ કહ્યું હતું કે;
26 Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:
૨૬તું એ લોકની પાસે જઈને કહે કે, તમે સાંભળ્યા કરશો પણ સમજશો નહિ, અને જોયા કરશો પણ તમને સૂઝશે નહિ.
27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with [their] eyes, and hear with [their] ears, and understand with [their] heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
૨૭કેમ કે એ લોકોનાં મન જડ થઈ ગયાં છે, તેઓના કાન બહેર મારી ગયા છે, તેઓએ પોતાની આંખો બંધ કરેલી છે, કદાપિ તેઓને આંખે દેખાય, તેઓ કાને સાંભળે, મનથી સમજે અને ફરે અને હું તેઓને સાજા કરું.
28 Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and [that] they will hear it.
૨૮તેથી જાણજો કે, ઈશ્વરે બક્ષેલા આ ઉદ્ધાર બિનયહૂદીઓની પાસે મોકલવામાં આવ્યો છે, અને તેઓ તો તે સ્વીકારશે જ.’”
29 And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.
૨૯(પાઉલે એ વાતો કહી રહ્યા પછી યહૂદીઓ પરસ્પર ઉગ્ર વિવાદ કરતા ચાલ્યા ગયા.)
30 And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,
૩૦(પાઉલ) પોતાના ભાડાના ઘરમાં બે વર્ષ સુધી રહ્યો, જેઓ તેને ત્યાં આવતા તે સર્વનો તે આવકાર કરતો હતો.
31 Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.
૩૧તે પૂરી હિંમતથી તથા અટકાવ સિવાય ઈશ્વરના રાજ્ય વિષે તથા પ્રભુ ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્ત વિષેનાં વચનોનો ઉપદેશ કરતો હતો.
