2 Samuel 1
1 Now it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had abode two days in Ziklag;
೧ಸೌಲನು ಸತ್ತನಂತರ, ದಾವೀದನು ಅಮಾಲೇಕ್ಯರನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿ ಚಿಕ್ಲಗ್ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ದಿನ ಇದ್ದನು.
2 It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and [so] it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.
೨ಮೂರನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೌಲನ ಠಾಣ್ಯದಿಂದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ದಾವೀದನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ನೆಲದ ಮಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಬಾಗಿ ನಮಸ್ಕರಿಸಿದನು. ಅವನು ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದುಕೊಂಡು ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಣ್ಣು ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದನು.
3 And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped.
೩ದಾವೀದನು ಅವನನ್ನು, “ನೀನು ಎಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಬಂದಿ” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು ಅವನು, “ನಾನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಠಾಣ್ಯದಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದೆನು” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
4 And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.
೪ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು, “ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ಕಾರ್ಯವೇನಾಯಿತೆಂದು ತಿಳಿಸು” ಅನ್ನಲು ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು, “ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ರಣರಂಗದಿಂದ ಓಡಿಹೋದರು. ಅನೇಕರು ಗಾಯಗೊಂಡು ಸತ್ತುಹೋದರು. ಸೌಲನೂ ಅವನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೋನಾತಾನನೂ ಮರಣಹೊಂದಿದರು” ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದನು.
5 And David said unto the young man that told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead?
೫ದಾವೀದನು ಈ ವರ್ತಮಾನ ತಂದ ಆ ಪ್ರಾಯಸ್ಥನಿಗೆ “ಸೌಲನೂ ಅವನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೋನಾತಾನನೂ ಸತ್ತಿರುವುದು ನಿನಗೆ ಹೇಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾಯಿತು” ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸಲು ಅವನು,
6 And the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him.
೬“ನಾನು ಆಕಸ್ಮಿಕವಾಗಿ ಗಿಲ್ಬೋವ ಪರ್ವತಪ್ರದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಸೌಲನು ತನ್ನ ಬರ್ಜಿಯನ್ನೂರಿಕೊಂಡು ನಿಂತಿರುವುದನ್ನೂ ರಥಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ರಾಹುತರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿ ಬರುತ್ತಿರುವುದನ್ನೂ ಕಂಡೆನು.
7 And when he looked behind him, he saw me, and called unto me. And I answered, Here [am] I.
೭ಅವನು ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಂಡು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಕರೆದನು.
8 And he said unto me, Who [art] thou? And I answered him, I [am] an Amalekite.
೮ನಾನು, ‘ಇಗೋ ಬಂದೆನು’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಹೋದಾಗ ಅವನು ‘ನೀನಾರು?’ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ, ‘ನಾನು ಅಮಾಲೇಕ್ಯನು’ ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟೆನು.
9 He said unto me again, Stand, I pray thee, upon me, and slay me: for anguish is come upon me, because my life [is] yet whole in me.
೯ಆಗ ಅವನು ನನಗೆ, ‘ನೀನು ದಯೆಮಾಡಿ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬಂದು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ಹಾಕು. ಯಾಕೆಂದರೆ ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀವವು ಇನ್ನೂ ಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ನನಗೆ ಸಂಕಟ ಹಿಡಿದದೆ’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
10 So I stood upon him, and slew him, because I was sure that he could not live after that he was fallen: and I took the crown that [was] upon his head, and the bracelet that [was] on his arm, and have brought them hither unto my lord.
೧೦ನಾನು ಹತ್ತಿರ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವನು ಬಿದ್ದನಂತರ ಬದುಕಲಾರನೆಂದು ನೆನಸಿ, ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ಹಾಕಿ, ಅವನ ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲಣ ಕಿರೀಟವನ್ನೂ ತೋಳಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಬಳೆಯನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ನಿನಗೆ ತಂದಿದ್ದೇನೆ” ಅಂದನು.
11 Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that [were] with him:
೧೧ಸೌಲನೂ ಅವನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೋನಾತಾನನೂ, ಯೆಹೋವನ ಪ್ರಜೆಗಳಾದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೂ ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಸಂಹೃತರಾದದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ದಾವೀದನೂ ಅವನ ಜನರೂ
12 And they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.
೧೨ತಮ್ಮ ಬಟ್ಟೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದುಕೊಂಡು, ಗೋಳಾಡಿ, ಅತ್ತು ಸಾಯಂಕಾಲದವರೆಗೆ ಉಪವಾಸ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
13 And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence [art] thou? And he answered, I [am] the son of a stranger, an Amalekite.
೧೩ದಾವೀದನು ವರ್ತಮಾನ ತಂದ ಯುವಕನನ್ನು, “ನೀನು ಎಲ್ಲಿಯವನು?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು. ಅವನು, “ನಾನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಯಾಗಿರುವ ಅಮಾಲೇಕ್ಯನು” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
14 And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine hand to destroy the LORD’s anointed?
೧೪ದಾವೀದನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಕೈಯೆತ್ತಿ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಅಭಿಷಿಕ್ತನನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಏಕೆ ಭಯಪಡಲಿಲ್ಲ?” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ
15 And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, [and] fall upon him. And he smote him that he died.
೧೫ತನ್ನ ಆಳುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಕರೆದು, “ಹೋಗಿ ಇವನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕು” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಲು ಅವನು ಅಮಾಲೇಕ್ಯನನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದು ಕೊಂದನು.
16 And David said unto him, Thy blood [be] upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the LORD’s anointed.
೧೬ದಾವೀದನು, “ಈ ರಕ್ತಾಪರಾಧವು ನಿನ್ನ ತಲೆಯ ಮೇಲೆಯೇ ಇರಲಿ. ಯೆಹೋವನ ಅಭಿಷಿಕ್ತನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದೆನೆಂದು ನಿನ್ನ ಬಾಯೇ ನಿನಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಹೇಳಿತು” ಅಂದನು.
17 And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son:
೧೭ದಾವೀದನು ಸೌಲ ಯೋನಾತನರ ಕುರಿತು ಒಂದು ಶೋಕಗೀತೆಯನ್ನು ರಚಿಸಿ,
18 (Also he bade them teach the children of Judah [the use of] the bow: behold, [it is] written in the book of Jasher.)
೧೮ಬಿಲ್ಲೆ ಎಂಬ ಈ ಗೀತೆಯನ್ನು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಕಲಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು. ಆ ಗೀತವು ಯಾಷಾರ್ ಗ್ರಂಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದಿರುತ್ತದೆ.
19 The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places: how are the mighty fallen!
೧೯“ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೇ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ವೈಭವವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಗುಡ್ಡಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮಣ್ಣು ಪಾಲಾಗಿ ಹೋಯಿತು. ಅಯ್ಯೋ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳೇ, ನೀವು ಹೇಗೆ ಹತರಾದಿರಿ.
20 Tell [it] not in Gath, publish [it] not in the streets of Askelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.
೨೦ಈ ಸಂಗತಿಯನ್ನು ಗತ್ ಊರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ತಿಳಿಸಬೇಡಿರಿ. ಅಷ್ಕೆಲೋನಿನ ಬೀದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾರಬೇಡಿರಿ. ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಹೆಂಗಸರು ಸಂತೋಷಿಸಾರು. ಸುನ್ನತಿಯಿಲ್ಲದವರ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರು ಉಲ್ಲಾಸಪಟ್ಟಾರು.
21 Ye mountains of Gilboa, [let there be] no dew, neither [let there be] rain, upon you, nor fields of offerings: for there the shield of the mighty is vilely cast away, the shield of Saul, [as though he had] not [been] anointed with oil.
೨೧ಗಿಲ್ಬೋವ ಗುಡ್ಡಗಳೇ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಮಂಜು, ಮಳೆಯು, ನೈವೇದ್ಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಫಲಿಸುವ ಹೊಲಗಳೂ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಹೋಗಲಿ. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳ ಗುರಾಣಿಗಳು ಬಿದ್ದಿರುತ್ತವೆ. ಸೌಲನ ಗುರಾಣಿಯೂ ಅಭಿಷಿಕ್ತನಲ್ಲದವನ ಗುರಾಣಿಯಂತೆ ಬಿದ್ದಿದೆ.
22 From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan turned not back, and the sword of Saul returned not empty.
೨೨ಯೋನಾತಾನನ ಬಿಲ್ಲು ಹತರಾದವರ ರಕ್ತವನ್ನು ಹೀರದೆಯೂ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳ ಕೊಬ್ಬನ್ನು ರುಚಿಸದೆಯೂ ಬರುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಸೌಲನ ಕತ್ತಿಯು ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
23 Saul and Jonathan [were] lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided: they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.
೨೩ಸೌಲಯೋನಾತಾನರು ಪ್ರಿಯರೂ ಮನೋಹರರೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರು ಜೀವಿಸುವಾಗಲೂ ಸಾಯುವಾಗಲೂ ಅಗಲಿದವರಲ್ಲ. ಅವರು ಹದ್ದುಗಳಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ವೇಗವುಳ್ಳವರು, ಸಿಂಹಗಳಿಗಿಂತಲೂ ಬಲವುಳ್ಳವರು.
24 Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet, with [other] delights, who put on ornaments of gold upon your apparel.
೨೪ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರೇ, ಸೌಲನಿಗಾಗಿ ಗೋಳಾಡಿರಿ, ನಿಮಗೆ ಉಲ್ಲಾಸಕರವಾದ ರಕ್ತಾಂಬರಗಳನ್ನು ಉಡಿಸಿ, ಅವುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಸುವರ್ಣಾಭರಣಗಳನ್ನು ತೊಡಿಸಿದವನು ಆತನೇ ಅಲ್ಲವೋ?
25 How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O Jonathan, [thou wast] slain in thine high places.
೨೫ಅಯ್ಯೋ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳೇ, ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಗೆ ಮರಣ ಹೊಂದಿದಿರಿ. ಯೋನಾತಾನನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಹತನಾಗಿ ಬಿದ್ದನಲ್ಲಾ
26 I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women.
೨೬ಯೋನಾತಾನನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನೇ ನಿನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹು ಸಂಕಟವುಂಟಾಗಿದೆ. ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಮನೋಹರನಾಗಿದ್ದಿ. ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲಿನ ನಿನ್ನ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯು ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯಕರವಾದದ್ದು. ಅದು ಸತಿ ಪ್ರೇಮಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠವಾದದ್ದು.
27 How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!
೨೭ಅಯ್ಯೋ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳು ಹೇಗೆ ಹತರಾದರು, ಯುದ್ಧದ ಆಯುಧಗಳು ಹೇಗೆ ಹಾಳಾದವು.”
