2 Samuel 20
1 And there happened to be there a man of Belial, whose name [was] Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjamite: and he blew a trumpet, and said, We have no part in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to his tents, O Israel.
১ঐ দিনের সেখানে বিন্যামীনীয় বিখ্রির ছেলে শেবঃ নামে একজন নিষ্ঠুর লোক ছিল; সে তূরী বাজিয়ে বলল, “দায়ূদের উপর আমাদের কোন ভাগ নেই, যিশয়ের ছেলের উপরে আমাদের কোন অধিকার নেই; হে ইস্রায়েল তোমরা সবাই নিজেদের তাঁবুতে যাও৷”
2 So every man of Israel went up from after David, [and] followed Sheba the son of Bichri: but the men of Judah clave unto their king, from Jordan even to Jerusalem.
২তাতে সমস্ত ইস্রায়েল দায়ূদের পিছনে গিয়ে বিখ্রির ছেলে শেবের পিছনে পিছনে গেল; কিন্তু যর্দ্দন থেকে যিরূশালেম পর্যন্ত যিহূদার লোকেরা নিজেদের রাজাতে আসক্ত থাকল৷
3 And David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women [his] concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them in ward, and fed them, but went not in unto them. So they were shut up unto the day of their death, living in widowhood.
৩পরে দায়ূদ যিরূশালেমে নিজের ঘরে আসলেন৷ আর রাজা বাড়ি রক্ষার জন্য তাঁর যে দশটি উপপত্নীকে রেখে গিয়েছিলেন, তাদেরকে নিয়ে কারাগারে আটকে রাখলেন এবং রক্ষা করলেন, কিন্তু তাদের কাছে গেলেন না; অতএব তারা মারা যাওয়ার দিন পর্যন্ত বিধবার মত আটকে থাকলো৷
4 Then said the king to Amasa, Assemble me the men of Judah within three days, and be thou here present.
৪পরে রাজা অমাসাকে বললেন, “তুমি তিন দিনের র মধ্যে যিহূদার লোকদেরকে ডেকে আমার জন্য জড়ো কর, আর তুমিও সেখানে উপস্থিত হও৷”
5 So Amasa went to assemble [the men of] Judah: but he tarried longer than the set time which he had appointed him.
৫তখন অমাসা যিহূদার লোকদেরকে ডেকে জড়ো করতে গেলেন, কিন্তু রাজা যে দিনের নির্দিষ্ট করে দিয়েছিলেন, সেই নির্দ্দিষ্ট দিনের র থেকে তিনি অনেক বেশি দেরী করলেন৷
6 And David said to Abishai, Now shall Sheba the son of Bichri do us more harm than [did] Absalom: take thou thy lord’s servants, and pursue after him, lest he get him fenced cities, and escape us.
৬তাতে দায়ূদ অবীশয়কে বললেন, “অবশালোম যা করেছিল, তার থেকে বিখ্রির ছেলে শেবঃ এখন আমাদের বেশি ক্ষতি করবে; তুমি নিজের প্রভুর দাসদেরকে নিয়ে তার পিছন পিছন তাড়া কর, নাহলে সে প্রাচীরে ঘেরা কোন কোন নগর দখল করে আমাদের নজর এড়াবে৷”
7 And there went out after him Joab’s men, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and all the mighty men: and they went out of Jerusalem, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.
৭তাতে যোয়াবের লোকজন, আর করেথীয় ও পলেথীয়রা এবং সমস্ত বীর তাঁর সঙ্গে বেরিয়ে এল; তারা বিখ্রির ছেলে শেবের পিছন পিছন তাড়া করার জন্য যিরূশালেম থেকে চলে গেল৷
8 When they [were] at the great stone which [is] in Gibeon, Amasa went before them. And Joab’s garment that he had put on was girded unto him, and upon it a girdle [with] a sword fastened upon his loins in the sheath thereof; and as he went forth it fell out.
৮তারা গিবিয়োনের বড় পাথরের কাছে উপস্থিত হলে অমাসা তাদের সামনে এলেন৷ তখন যোয়াবের সৈনিক বেশ কোমরবন্ধনীর নিয়ে তৈরী ছিলেন, তার উপরে তলোয়ারের কোমরবন্ধনী ছিল; খোলা তলোয়ারটি তাঁর কোমরে বাঁধা ছিল, পরে যখন তিনি বাইরে যাচ্ছিলেন তখন তলোয়ারটি খুলে পড়তে দিলেন৷
9 And Joab said to Amasa, [Art] thou in health, my brother? And Joab took Amasa by the beard with the right hand to kiss him.
৯আর যোয়াব অমাসাকে বললেন, “হে আমার ভাই, তোমার খবর ভালো তো?” পরে যোয়াব অমাসাকে চুমু দেওয়ার জন্য ডান হাত দিয়ে তাঁর দাড়ি ধরলেন৷
10 But Amasa took no heed to the sword that [was] in Joab’s hand: so he smote him therewith in the fifth [rib], and shed out his bowels to the ground, and struck him not again; and he died. So Joab and Abishai his brother pursued after Sheba the son of Bichri.
১০কিন্তু যোয়াবের হাতের তলোয়ারের দিকে অমাসার লক্ষ্য না থাকাতে তিনি সেটা দিয়ে তার পেটে আঘাত করলেন, তাঁর ভূঁড়ি বেরিয়ে গিয়ে মাটিতে পড়ল; যোয়াব দ্বিতীয় বার তাঁকে আঘাত করলেন না, তিনি মারা গেলেন৷ পরে যোয়াব ও তাঁর ভাই অবীশয় বিখ্রির ছেলে শেবের পিছন পিছন তাড়া করলেন৷
11 And one of Joab’s men stood by him, and said, He that favoureth Joab, and he that [is] for David, [let him go] after Joab.
১১ইতিমধ্যে শেবের কাছে যোয়াবের একজন যুবক দাঁড়িয়ে বলতে লাগল, “যে যোয়াবকে ভালবাসে ও দায়ূদের পক্ষে, সে যোয়াবকে অনুসরণ করুক৷”
12 And Amasa wallowed in blood in the midst of the highway. And when the man saw that all the people stood still, he removed Amasa out of the highway into the field, and cast a cloth upon him, when he saw that every one that came by him stood still.
১২তখনও অমাসা রাজপথের মধ্যে নিজের রক্তে গড়াগড়ি দিচ্ছিলেন; অতএব সমস্ত লোক দাঁড়িয়ে আছে দেখে ঐ ব্যক্তি অমাসাকে রাজপথ থেকে ক্ষেতে সরিয়ে দিয়ে তাঁর উপরে একটি কাপড় ফেলে দিল; কারণ সে দেখল, যে কেউ তাঁর কাছ দিয়ে যায়, সে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকে৷
13 When he was removed out of the highway, all the people went on after Joab, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.
১৩তখন অমাসাকে রাজপথ থেকে সরান হলে সমস্ত লোক বিখ্রির ছেলে শেবের পিছন পিছন তাড়া করার জন্য যোয়াবের অনুগামী হল৷
14 And he went through all the tribes of Israel unto Abel, and to Beth-maachah, and all the Berites: and they were gathered together, and went also after him.
১৪আর তিনি ইস্রায়েলের সব বংশের মধ্যে দিয়ে আবেল ও বৈৎমাখায় এবং বেরীয়দের সমস্ত অঞ্চল পর্যন্ত গেলেন, তাতে লোকেরা জড়ো হয়ে শেবের পিছন পিছন চলল৷
15 And they came and besieged him in Abel of Beth-maachah, and they cast up a bank against the city, and it stood in the trench: and all the people that [were] with Joab battered the wall, to throw it down.
১৫পরে তারা আবেল ও বৈৎমাখাতে এসে তাকে ঘিরে ধরে নগরের কাছে ঢিবি প্রস্তুত করল এবং সেটা প্রাচীরের সমান হল; আর যোয়াবের সঙ্গী সমস্ত লোক প্রাচীর ধ্বংস করার জন্য সেটা ভাঙ্গতে লাগল৷
16 Then cried a wise woman out of the city, Hear, hear; say, I pray you, unto Joab, Come near hither, that I may speak with thee.
১৬পরে নগরের মধ্যে থেকে একটি বুদ্ধিমতি মহিলা চিত্কার করে বলল, “শোন, অনুগ্রহ করে যোয়াবকে এখান পর্যন্ত আসতে বল, আমি তাঁর সঙ্গে কথা বলব৷”
17 And when he was come near unto her, the woman said, [Art] thou Joab? And he answered, I [am he]. Then she said unto him, Hear the words of thine handmaid. And he answered, I do hear.
১৭পরে যোয়াব তার কাছে গেলে সে মহিলাটি জিজ্ঞাসা করল, “আপনি কি যোয়াব?” তিনি উত্তর করলেন, “আমি যোয়াব৷” সে মহিলাটি বলল, “আপনার দাসীর কথা শুনুন;” তিনি উত্তর দিলেন, “শুনছি৷”
18 Then she spake, saying, They were wont to speak in old time, saying, They shall surely ask [counsel] at Abel: and so they ended [the matter].
১৮পরে মহিলাটি এই কথা বলল, “আগেকার দিনের লোকে বলত, তারা আবেলে পরিকল্পনা জানতে চাইবেই চাইবে, এই ভাবে তারা কাজ শেষ করত৷
19 I [am one of them that are] peaceable [and] faithful in Israel: thou seekest to destroy a city and a mother in Israel: why wilt thou swallow up the inheritance of the LORD?
১৯আমি ইস্রায়েলের শান্তিপ্রিয় ও বিশ্বাসী লোকদের একজন, কিন্তু আপনি ইস্রায়েলে মায়ের মত একটি নগর বিনাশ করতে চেষ্টা করছেন; আপনি কেন সদাপ্রভুর অধিকার গ্রাস করবেন?”
20 And Joab answered and said, Far be it, far be it from me, that I should swallow up or destroy.
২০যোয়াব উত্তর করলেন, “গ্রাস করা কিংবা বিনাশ করা আমার থেকে দূরে থাকুক, দূরে থাকুক৷ ব্যাপার এইরকম নয়৷
21 The matter [is] not so: but a man of mount Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, hath lifted up his hand against the king, [even] against David: deliver him only, and I will depart from the city. And the woman said unto Joab, Behold, his head shall be thrown to thee over the wall.
২১কিন্তু বিখ্রির ছেলে শেবঃ নামে পর্বতময় ইফ্রয়িম প্রদেশের একজন লোক রাজার বিরুদ্ধে, দায়ূদের বিরুদ্ধে হাত তুলেছে; তোমরা শুধু তাকে সমর্পণ কর, তাতে আমি এই নগর থেকে চলে যাব৷” তখন সেই মহিলা যোয়াবকে বলল, “দেখুন, প্রাচীরের উপর দিয়ে তার মাথা আপনার কাছে ছোঁড়া হবে৷”
22 Then the woman went unto all the people in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri, and cast [it] out to Joab. And he blew a trumpet, and they retired from the city, every man to his tent. And Joab returned to Jerusalem unto the king.
২২পরে সেই মহিলা বুদ্ধি করে সব লোকের কাছে গেল৷ তাতে লোকেরা বিখ্রির ছেলে শেবের মাথা কেটে যোয়াবের কাছে বাইরে ফেলে দিল৷ তখন তিনি তূরী বাজালে লোকেরা নগর থেকে ছিন্নভিন্ন হয়ে নিজের তাঁবুতে গেল এবং যোয়াব যিরূশালেমে রাজার কাছে ফিরে গেলেন৷
23 Now Joab [was] over all the host of Israel: and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada [was] over the Cherethites and over the Pelethites:
২৩ঐ দিনের যোয়াব ইস্রায়েলের সমস্ত সেনার শাসনকর্ত্তা ছিলেন এবং যিহোয়াদার ছেলে বনায় করেথীয় ও পলেথীয়দের শাসনকর্ত্তা ছিলেন;
24 And Adoram [was] over the tribute: and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud [was] recorder:
২৪আর অদোরাম রাজার কাজে নিযুক্ত দাসদের শাসনকর্ত্তা এবং অহীলূদের ছেলে যিহোশাফট ইতহাসকর্তা,
25 And Sheva [was] scribe: and Zadok and Abiathar [were] the priests:
২৫আর শবা লেখক ছিলেন এবং সাদোক ও অবীয়াথর যাজক ছিলেন৷
26 And Ira also the Jairite was a chief ruler about David.
২৬আর যায়ীরীয় ঈরাও দায়ূদের যাজক (রাজমন্ত্রী) ছিলেন৷
