2 Corinthians 2
1 But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.
Porém decidi isto mesmo comigo, de não mais vir até vós com tristeza.
2 For if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?
Porque se eu vos entristecer, então quem será o que me alegrará, senão aquele que por mim foi entristecido?
3 And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is [the joy] of you all.
E isto mesmo vos escrevi, para que quando vier, não tenha tristeza dos que deveriam me alegrar, confiando de vós todos, que minha alegria é [a alegria] de todos vós.
4 For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.
Porque em muita aflição e angústia de coração eu vos escrevi com muitas lágrimas, não para que vos entristecêsseis, mas para que entendêsseis o amor que tenho em abundância para convosco.
5 But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all.
Porém se alguém [me] entristeceu, não entristeceu a mim [somente], mas em parte (para que não se exagere) a todos.
6 Sufficient to such a man [is] this punishment, which [was inflicted] of many.
Basta ao tal esta repreensão feita pela maioria.
7 So that contrariwise ye [ought] rather to forgive [him], and comfort [him], lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.
De maneira que, ao invés disso, [deveis lhe] perdoar e consolar, para que ele não seja consumido pela excessiva tristeza.
8 Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm [your] love toward him.
Por isso vos peço que confirmeis o amor para com ele.
9 For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things.
Pois também para isso eu escrevi, para vos conhecer por meio de prova se vós sois obedientes em tudo.
10 To whom ye forgive any thing, I [forgive] also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave [it], for your sakes [forgave I it] in the person of Christ;
E ao que perdoardes alguma coisa, também eu [lhe perdoo]; pois a quem eu tenho perdoado, se também eu perdoei, por causa de vós [o fiz] na presença de Cristo; para que Satanás não tire proveito de nós.
11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
Porque não ignoramos seus pensamentos.
12 Furthermore, when I came to Troas to [preach] Christ’s gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord,
Além disso, quando vim a Troas para [pregar] o Evangelho de Cristo, e abrindo-se porta para mim no Senhor, não tive repouso em meu espírito, por não achar a meu irmão Tito.
13 I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia.
Porém, despedindo-me deles, eu parti para a Macedônia.
14 Now thanks [be] unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
E graças a Deus, que sempre nos faz triunfar em Cristo, e por nós em todo lugar manifesta o cheiro de seu conhecimento.
15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
Porque para Deus somos o bom cheiro de Cristo, nos que se salvam, e nos que se perdem.
16 To the one [we are] the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who [is] sufficient for these things?
Para estes certamente cheiro de morte, para a morte; mas para aqueles cheiro de vida, para a vida. E quem é idôneo para estas coisas?
17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
Porque nós não somos como muitos, que tentam vender a palavra de Deus; mas nós [a] falamos em Cristo, diante de Deus, com sinceridade, como [enviados] de Deus.
