2 Chronicles 20
1 It came to pass after this also, [that] the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them [other] beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.
Pasadas estas cosas, aconteció que los hijos de Moab y de Amón, y con ellos otros a más de los amonitas, vinieron contra Josafat a la guerra.
2 Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they [be] in Hazazon-tamar, which [is] En-gedi.
Y vinieron, y dieron aviso a Josafat, diciendo: Contra ti viene una grande multitud del otro lado del mar, y de la Siria; y he aquí ellos están en Hazezontamar, que es En-gadi.
3 And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.
Entonces él tuvo temor; y puso Josafat su rostro para consultar al SEÑOR, e hizo pregonar ayuno a todo Judá.
4 And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask [help] of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.
Y se congregaron los de Judá para consultar al SEÑOR: y también de todas las ciudades de Judá vinieron a consultar al SEÑOR.
5 And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court,
Y se puso Josafat en pie en la congregación de Judá y de Jerusalén, en la Casa del SEÑOR, delante del atrio nuevo;
6 And said, O LORD God of our fathers, [art] not thou God in heaven? and rulest [not] thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand [is there not] power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?
y dijo: SEÑOR Dios de nuestros padres, ¿no eres tú Dios en los cielos, y te enseñoreas en todos los reinos de los gentiles? ¿No está en tu mano la fuerza y potencia, que no hay quien te resista?
7 [Art] not thou our God, [who] didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever?
Dios nuestro, ¿no echaste tú los moradores de esta tierra delante de tu pueblo Israel, y la diste a la simiente de Abraham tu amigo para siempre?
8 And they dwelt therein, and have built thee a sanctuary therein for thy name, saying,
Y ellos han habitado en ella, y te han edificado en ella santuario a tu nombre, diciendo:
9 If, [when] evil cometh upon us, [as] the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name [is] in this house, ) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help.
Si mal viniere sobre nosotros, o cuchillo de juicio, o pestilencia, o hambre, nos presentaremos delante de esta Casa, y delante de ti (porque tu Nombre está en esta Casa), y de nuestras tribulaciones clamaremos a ti, y tú nos oirás y salvarás.
10 And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them, and destroyed them not;
Ahora, pues, he aquí los hijos de Amón y de Moab, y los del monte de Seir, por los cuales no quisiste que pasase Israel cuando venían de la tierra de Egipto, sino que se apartasen de ellos, y no los destruyesen;
11 Behold, [I say, how] they reward us, to come to cast us out of thy possession, which thou hast given us to inherit.
he aquí ellos nos dan el pago, viniendo a echarnos de tu posesión, que tú nos diste que poseamos.
12 O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes [are] upon thee.
¡ Oh Dios nuestro! ¿No los juzgarás tú? Porque en nosotros no hay fuerza contra tan grande multitud que viene contra nosotros; no sabemos lo que hemos de hacer, mas a ti están puestos nuestros ojos.
13 And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.
Y todo Judá estaba en pie delante del SEÑOR, con sus niños, y sus mujeres, y sus hijos.
14 Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation;
Y estaba allí Jahaziel hijo de Zacarías, hijo de Benaía, hijo de Jeiel, hijo de Matanías, levita de los hijos de Asaf, sobre el cual vino el espíritu del SEÑOR en medio de la reunión;
15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle [is] not yours, but God’s.
y dijo: Oíd, Judá todo, y vosotros moradores de Jerusalén, y tú, rey Josafat, el SEÑOR os dice así: No temáis ni os amedrentéis delante de esta tan grande multitud; porque no es vuestra la guerra, sino de Dios.
16 To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.
Mañana descenderéis contra ellos; he aquí que ellos subirán por la cuesta de Sis, y los hallaréis junto al arroyo, antes del desierto de Jeruel.
17 Ye shall not [need] to fight in this [battle: ] set yourselves, stand ye [still], and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD [will be] with you.
No habrá para qué vosotros peleéis ahora; paraos, estad quedos, y ved la salud del SEÑOR con vosotros. Oh Judá y Jerusalén, no temáis ni desmayéis; salid mañana contra ellos, que el SEÑOR será con vosotros.
18 And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with [his] face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD.
Entonces Josafat se inclinó rostro a tierra, y asimismo todo Judá y los moradores de Jerusalén se postraron delante del SEÑOR, y adoraron al SEÑOR.
19 And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high.
Y se levantaron los levitas de los hijos de Coat y de los hijos de Coré, para alabar al SEÑOR el Dios de Israel a grande y alta voz.
20 And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Y cuando se levantaron por la mañana, salieron por el desierto de Tecoa. Y mientras ellos salían, Josafat estando en pie, dijo: Oídme, Judá y moradores de Jerusalén. Creed al SEÑOR vuestro Dios, y seréis seguros; creed a sus profetas, y seréis prosperados.
21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy [endureth] for ever.
Y habido consejo con el pueblo, puso a algunos que cantasen al SEÑOR, y alabasen en la hermosura de la santidad, mientras que salía la gente armada, y dijesen: Confesad al SEÑOR, porque su misericordia es para siempre.
22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.
Y cuando comenzaron con clamor y con alabanza, puso el SEÑOR a los hijos de Moab y los del monte de Seir para que asechasen a los hijos de Amón, que venían contra Judá, y se mataron los unos a los otros.
23 For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy [them: ] and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.
Y los hijos de Amón y Moab se levantaron contra los del monte de Seir, para matarlos y destruirlos; y cuando hubieron acabado a los del monte de Seir, cada cual ayudó a su compañero a matarse.
24 And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they [were] dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped.
Y cuando vino Judá a la atalaya del desierto, miraron por la multitud; y helos aquí que estaban tendidos en tierra muertos, que ninguno había escapado.
25 And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much.
Y viniendo Josafat y su pueblo a despojarlos, hallaron en ellos muchas riquezas, y cuerpos muertos, y vestidos y vasos preciosos, los cuales tomaron para sí, tantos, que no los podían llevar; tres días duró el despojo, porque era mucho.
26 And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Berachah; for there they blessed the LORD: therefore the name of the same place was called, The valley of Berachah, unto this day.
Y al cuarto día se juntaron en el valle de Beraca ( de la bendición ); porque allí bendijeron al SEÑOR, y por esto llamaron el nombre de aquel paraje el valle de Beraca, hasta hoy.
27 Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in the forefront of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for the LORD had made them to rejoice over their enemies.
Y todo Judá y los de Jerusalén, y Josafat a la cabeza de ellos, volvieron para regresar a Jerusalén con gozo, porque el SEÑOR les había dado gozo de sus enemigos.
28 And they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets unto the house of the LORD.
Y vinieron a Jerusalén con salterios, arpas, y bocinas, a la Casa del SEÑOR.
29 And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of [those] countries, when they had heard that the LORD fought against the enemies of Israel.
Y vino el pavor de Dios sobre todos los reinos de la tierra, cuando oyeron que el SEÑOR había peleado contra los enemigos de Israel.
30 So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet: for his God gave him rest round about.
Y el reino de Josafat tuvo reposo; porque su Dios le dio reposo de todas partes.
31 And Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah: [he was] thirty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name [was] Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
Así reinó Josafat sobre Judá; de treinta y cinco años era cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó veinte y cinco años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Azuba, hija de Silhi.
32 And he walked in the way of Asa his father, and departed not from it, doing [that which was] right in the sight of the LORD.
Y anduvo en el camino de Asa su padre, sin apartarse de él, haciendo lo recto en los ojos del SEÑOR.
33 Howbeit the high places were not taken away: for as yet the people had not prepared their hearts unto the God of their fathers.
Con todo eso los altos no eran quitados; que el pueblo aun no había enderezado su corazón al Dios de sus padres.
34 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, first and last, behold, they [are] written in the book of Jehu the son of Hanani, who [is] mentioned in the book of the kings of Israel.
Lo demás de los hechos de Josafat, primeros y postreros, he aquí están escritos en las palabras de Jehú hijo de Hanani, del cual es hecha mención en el libro de los reyes de Israel.
35 And after this did Jehoshaphat king of Judah join himself with Ahaziah king of Israel, who did very wickedly:
Pasadas estas cosas, Josafat rey de Judá hizo amistad con Ocozías rey de Israel, el cual fue dado a la impiedad;
36 And he joined himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish: and they made the ships in Ezion-geber.
e hizo con él compañía para aparejar navíos que fuesen a Tarsis; y construyeron los navíos en Ezión-geber.
37 Then Eliezer the son of Dodavah of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, Because thou hast joined thyself with Ahaziah, the LORD hath broken thy works. And the ships were broken, that they were not able to go to Tarshish.
Entonces Eliezer hijo de Dodava de Maresa, profetizó contra Josafat, diciendo: Por cuanto has hecho compañía con Ocozías, el SEÑOR destruirá tus obras. Y los navíos se rompieron, y no pudieron ir a Tarsis.
