1 Timothy 1
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, [which is] our hope;
奉我們的救主天主，和作我們希望的基督耶穌的命，作基督耶穌宗徒的保祿，
2 Unto Timothy, [my] own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, [and] peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
致書給在信德上作我真子的弟茂德。願恩寵、仁慈與平安，由天主父和我們的主基督耶穌賜與你!
3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
當我往馬其頓去的時候，曾請救你留在厄弗所，為的是要你訓令某些人，不要講異端道理，
4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: [so do].
也不要探求無稽的傳說，以及無窮的祖譜，因為這些事只會激起爭辯，對於天主所立的那基於信德的救世計劃，都毫無益處。
5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and [of] a good conscience, and [of] faith unfeigned:
這訓令的目的就是愛，即由純潔的心，光明磊落的良心和真誠信仰所發出的愛；
6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;
但有些人離開這些而轉向了空談；
7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
願意充當法學士，卻不明白自己所主張的是什麼事。
8 But we know that the law [is] good, if a man use it lawfully;
我們知道法律原是好的，只要人用的合法；
9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
我們也知道法律不是為善人立的，而是為叛逆和不服從的，為不敬神和顣瀆聖的，為弒父母的，為殺人的，
10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
為犯奸淫的，為行男色的，另為拐賣人口的，為說謊言的，為發虛誓的，並為其它相反建全道理的事而立的；
11 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
這道理是按著真福的天主所托給我的光榮福音而宣講的。
12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
我感謝那賜與我能力的我們的主基督耶穌，因為衪認為我忠信，就派定了我服役。
13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did [it] ignorantly in unbelief.
原先我是個褻瀆者、迫害者和施暴者；但是我蒙受了憐憫，因為我當時是在不信之中，出於無認識而做了那些事。
14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
然而我們主的恩寵對我特別豐厚，使我在耶穌基督內有了信和愛。
15 This [is] a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
這話是確實的，值得完全接納；就是基督耶穌到世界上來，是為拯救罪人；而我就是其中的魁首。
16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. (aiōnios g166)
但是我所以蒙受了憐憫，是為使基督耶穌在我這個魁首身上，顯示衪的完全堅忍，為給將來信任衪而獲永生的人一個榜樣。 (aiōnios g166)
17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, [be] honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
願尊榮和光榮歸於萬世的君王，那不死不滅，不可見的惟一天主，於無窮之世，阿們。 (aiōn g165)
18 This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;
我兒弟茂德，我根據以前指著你所說過的那些預言，把這訓令委詑給你，為叫你藉此打這埸好仗，
19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
保持信德和良心純潔；有些人竟擯棄了良心，而在信德上遭了船破之災，
20 Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.
其中有依默納約和亞歷山大，我已把他們交給撒殫，為叫他們學習不再褻瀆。
