1 Samuel 30
1 And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire;
Als nun David mit seinen Leuten am dritten Tage Ziklag erreichte, waren die Amalekiter in das Südland und in Ziklag eingefallen, hatten Ziklag geplündert und niedergebrannt,
2 And had taken the women captives, that [were] therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried [them] away, and went on their way.
die Weiber und was überhaupt anwesend war, klein und groß. jedoch ohne jemand zu töten, gefangen genommen und weggeführt und waren ihres Wegs gezogen.
3 So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, [it was] burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.
Als dann David mit seinen Leuten die Stadt erreichte, da war sie niedergebrannt, ihre Frauen, Söhne und Töchter aber in Gefangenschaft geraten.
4 Then David and the people that [were] with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.
Da brachen david und die Leute, die er bei sich hatte, in lautes Weinen aus, bis sie keine Kraft zum Weinen mehr besaßen.
5 And David’s two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.
Auch die beiden Frauen Davids waren in Gefangenschaft geraten: Ahinoam aus Jesreel und Abigail, das Weib des Karmeliters Nabal.
6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.
Aber David geriet in große Not, indem die Leute davon sprachen, ihn zu steinigen, weil jedermann unter den Leuten wegen seiner Söhne und Töchter in Erbitterung geraten war. Doch ermannte sich David in Jahwe, seinem Gott,
7 And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David.
und David gebot dem Priester Abjathar, dem Sohne Ahimelechs: Bringe mir einmal den Ephod her! Da brachte Abjathar David den Ephod.
8 And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake [them], and without fail recover [all].
David fragte Jahwe: Soll ich diese Horde verfolgen? Werde ich sie einholen? Er antwortete ihm: Verfolge Sie! denn du wirst sie sicher einholen und erretten.
9 So David went, he and the six hundred men that [were] with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those that were left behind stayed.
da machte sich David mit den 600 Mann, die er bei sich hatte, auf den Weg, und sie erreichten das Thal Besor. Die Übrigen aber blieben zurück.
10 But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind, which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor.
David setzte mit 400 Mann die Verfolgung fort, während 2oo Mann, die ermüdet waren, zurückblieben, ohne das Thal Besor zu überschreiten.
11 And they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David, and gave him bread, and he did eat; and they made him drink water;
Da fanden sie auf freiem Feld einen Ägypter, den brachten sie zu David. Und als man ihm Brot zu essen und Wasser zu trinken gegeben hatte
12 And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs, and two clusters of raisins: and when he had eaten, his spirit came again to him: for he had eaten no bread, nor drunk [any] water, three days and three nights.
und ihm ein Stück Feigenkuchen und zwei Rosinentrauben zu essen gegeben hatte, kam er wieder zu sich: er hatte nämlich drei Tage und drei Nächte nichts gegessen und nichts getrunken.
13 And David said unto him, To whom [belongest] thou? and whence [art] thou? And he said, I [am] a young man of Egypt, servant to an Amalekite; and my master left me, because three days agone I fell sick.
Darauf fragte ihn David: Wem gehörst du an und woher bist du? Er antwortete: Ich bin ein ägyptischer Jüngling, Sklave eines Amalekiters. Mein Herr hat mich im Stiche gelassen, weil ich heute vor drei Tagen erkrankte.
14 We made an invasion [upon] the south of the Cherethites, and upon [the coast] which [belongeth] to Judah, and upon the south of Caleb; and we burned Ziklag with fire.
Wir haben einen Einfall gemacht in das Südland der Kreter und in das Gebiet Judas und in das Südland von Kaleb und haben Ziklag niedergebrannt.
15 And David said to him, Canst thou bring me down to this company? And he said, Swear unto me by God, that thou wilt neither kill me, nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring thee down to this company.
David fragte ihn: Willst du uns zu dieser Horde hinführen? Er erwiderte: Schwöre mir bei Gott, daß du mich nicht umbringen, noch mich meinem Herrn ausliefern wirst, so will ich dich zu dieser Horde hinführen.
16 And when he had brought him down, behold, [they were] spread abroad upon all the earth, eating and drinking, and dancing, because of all the great spoil that they had taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah.
Als er ihn nun hinführte, da hatten sie sich weithin über die Gegend ausgebreitet, aßen und tranken und feierten ein Freudenfest über all der großen Beute, die sie aus dem Philisterland und dem Lande Juda mitgebracht hatten.
17 And David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and there escaped not a man of them, save four hundred young men, which rode upon camels, and fled.
David aber schlug sie vom Nachmittage bis zum Abend und vollstreckte an ihnen den Bann, so daß keiner von ihnen entkam, außer 400 Knechten, die sich auf die Kamele schwangen und entflohen.
18 And David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away: and David rescued his two wives.
Und alles, was die Amalekiter geraubt hatten, befreite David; auch seine beiden Frauen befreite David,
19 And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor any [thing] that they had taken to them: David recovered all.
so daß nichts von ihnen vermißt wurde vom Geringsten bis zum Größten, weder Beute, noch Söhne und Töchter, noch sonst irgend etwas, was sie geraubt hatteb: alles brachte David wieder zurück.
20 And David took all the flocks and the herds, [which] they drave before those [other] cattle, and said, This [is] David’s spoil.
Da nahmen sie alle Schafe und Rinder und führten sie ihm vor und riefen: Das ist Davids Beute!
21 And David came to the two hundred men, which were so faint that they could not follow David, whom they had made also to abide at the brook Besor: and they went forth to meet David, and to meet the people that [were] with him: and when David came near to the people, he saluted them.
Als nun David zu den 200 Mann zurückkam, die zu müde gewesen waren, um mit David weiter zu ziehen, so daß man sie am Thale Besor zurückgelassen hatte, da kamen sie David und den Leuten, die mit David gegangen waren, entgegen, und als david mit den Leuten herannahte, begrüßten sie sie.
22 Then answered all the wicked men and [men] of Belial, of those that went with David, and said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them [ought] of the spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead [them] away, and depart.
Aber allerlei Böse und Nichtswürdige unter den Leuten, die mit David gegangen waren, ließen sich dahin vernehmen: Weil sie nicht mit uns gegangen sind, wollen wir ihnen auch von der Beute, die wir gerettet haben, nichts geben - abgesehen von eines jeden Weib und Kindern: die mögen sie mitnehmen und ihres Weges gehen.
23 Then said David, Ye shall not do so, my brethren, with that which the LORD hath given us, who hath preserved us, and delivered the company that came against us into our hand.
David erwiderte: Handelt nicht so nach dem, was Jahwe uns zu teil werden ließ, und nachdem er uns behütet und uns die Horde, die bei uns eingedrungen war, in die Hände gegeben hat!
24 For who will hearken unto you in this matter? but as his part [is] that goeth down to the battle, so [shall] his part [be] that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part alike.
Wer wird auch in dieser Sache auf euch hören? Vielmehr: wie der Anteil dessen, der in den Kampf zieht, soll auch der Anteil dessen sein, der beim Gepäck bleibt: gleichen Anteil sollen sie haben! -
25 And it was [so] from that day forward, that he made it a statute and an ordinance for Israel unto this day.
dabei blieb es von jenem Tage an. Er machte das zu einer Satzung und zu einem Brauch in Israel bis auf den heutigen Tag.
26 And when David came to Ziklag, he sent of the spoil unto the elders of Judah, [even] to his friends, saying, Behold a present for you of the spoil of the enemies of the LORD;
Als aber David nach Ziklag zurückkam, sandte er einen Teil der Beute an die ihm befreundeten Vornehmen Judas mit der Botschaft: Hier habt ihr ein Geschenk von der Beute der Feinde Jahwes!
27 To [ them] which [were] in Beth-el, and to [them] which [were] in south Ramoth, and to [them] which [were] in Jattir,
Ebenso an die von Bethul, an die von Ramath im Südland, an die von Jattir,
28 And to [them] which [were] in Aroer, and to [them] which [were] in Siphmoth, and to [them] which [were] in Eshtemoa,
an die von Arara, an die von Siphmoth, an die von Esthemoa,
29 And to [them] which [were] in Rachal, and to [them] which [were] in the cities of the Jerahmeelites, and to [them] which [were] in the cities of the Kenites,
an die von Karmel, an die in den Städten der Jerahmeeliter, an die in den Städten der Keniter,
30 And to [them] which [were] in Hormah, and to [them] which [were] in Chor-ashan, and to [them] which [were] in Athach,
an die von Horma, an die von Bor-asan, an die von Athach,
31 And to [them] which [were] in Hebron, and to all the places where David himself and his men were wont to haunt.
an die von Hebron und an alle die Orte, an denen David mit seinen Leuten umhergestreift war.
