1 Samuel 22
1 David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father’s house heard [it], they went down thither to him.
দাউদ গাত ছেড়ে অদুল্লম গুহাতে পালিয়ে গেলেন। তাঁর দাদারা ও তাঁর বাবার পরিবার-পরিজন যখন তা জানতে পারলেন, তখন তাঁরা সেখানে তাঁর কাছে পৌঁছে গেলেন।
2 And every one [that was] in distress, and every one that [was] in debt, and every one [that was] discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.
যারা যারা দুর্দশাগ্রস্ত বা ঋণ-ধারে জর্জরিত অথবা অতৃপ্ত ছিল, তারা সবাই তাঁর চারপাশে একত্রিত হল, এবং তিনি তাদের সেনাপতি হয়ে গেলেন। প্রায় 400 জন তাঁর সঙ্গী হল।
3 And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, [and be] with you, till I know what God will do for me.
সেখান থেকে দাউদ মোয়াবের মিস্পীতে চলে গিয়ে মোয়াবের রাজাকে বললেন, “আমি যতদিন না জানতে পারছি ঈশ্বর আমার জন্য কী করতে চলেছেন, ততদিন কি আপনি আমার মা-বাবাকে আপনার কাছে থাকতে দেবেন?”
4 And he brought them before the king of Moab: and they dwelt with him all the while that David was in the hold.
এই বলে তিনি তাঁদের মোয়াবের রাজার কাছে রেখে গেলেন, ও দাউদ যতদিন সেই ঘাঁটিতে ছিলেন, তাঁরাও রাজার সঙ্গেই ছিলেন।
5 And the prophet Gad said unto David, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.
কিন্তু ভাববাদী গাদ দাউদকে বললেন, “ঘাঁটিতে থাকবেন না। যিহূদা দেশে চলে যান।” অতএব দাউদ সেই স্থান ত্যাগ করে হেরৎ বনে চলে গেলেন।
6 When Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that [were] with him, (now Saul abode in Gibeah under a tree in Ramah, having his spear in his hand, and all his servants [were] standing about him; )
ইত্যবসরে শৌল খবর পেয়েছিলেন যে দাউদ ও তাঁর লোকজনের খোঁজ পাওয়া গিয়েছে। শৌল হাতে বর্শা নিয়ে গিবিয়ায় ছোটো একটি পাহাড়ের উপর অবস্থিত একটি ঝাউ গাছের নিচে বসেছিলেন, ও তাঁর সব কর্মকর্তা তাঁর পাশেই দাঁড়িয়েছিল।
7 Then Saul said unto his servants that stood about him, Hear now, ye Benjamites; will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards, [and] make you all captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds;
তিনি তাদের বললেন, “ওহে বিন্যামীনীয় লোকেরা, শোনো! যিশয়ের ছেলে কি তোমাদের সবাইকে ক্ষেতজমি ও দ্রাক্ষাকুঞ্জ দেবে? সে কি তোমাদের সবাইকে সহস্র-সেনাপতি ও শত-সেনাপতি করে দেবে?
8 That all of you have conspired against me, and [there is] none that sheweth me that my son hath made a league with the son of Jesse, and [there is] none of you that is sorry for me, or sheweth unto me that my son hath stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?
এজন্যই কি তোমরা সবাই আমার বিরুদ্ধে ষড়যন্ত্র করেছ? কেউই বলোনি কখন আমার ছেলে, যিশয়ের ছেলের সঙ্গে নিয়ম স্থির করেছে। তোমরা কেউ আমার বিষয়ে উদ্বিগ্ন হওনি বা আমাকে বলোনি যে আমার ছেলেই আমার দাসকে আমার বিরুদ্ধে ঘাঁটি পেতে বসে থাকার জন্য উসকানি দিয়েছিল, যেমনটি সে আজ করেছে।”
9 Then answered Doeg the Edomite, which was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.
কিন্তু শৌলের কর্মকর্তাদের সঙ্গে যে দাঁড়িয়েছিল, সেই ইদোমীয় দোয়েগ বলল, “আমি নোবে অহীটূবের ছেলে অহীমেলকের কাছে যিশয়ের ছেলেকে আসতে দেখেছিলাম।
10 And he enquired of the LORD for him, and gave him victuals, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.
অহীমেলক ওর হয়ে সদাপ্রভুর কাছে খোঁজ নিয়েছিল; সে ওকে খাদ্যদ্রব্য এবং ফিলিস্তিনী গলিয়াতের তরোয়ালটিও দিয়েছিল।”
11 Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father’s house, the priests that [were] in Nob: and they came all of them to the king.
তখন রাজামশাই নোবে যাঁরা যাজকের কাজ করতেন, সেই অহীটূবের ছেলে যাজক অহীমেলক ও তাঁর পরিবারের সব পুরুষ সদস্যকে ডেকে আনার জন্য লোক পাঠালেন, এবং তাঁরা সবাই রাজামশায়ের কাছে এলেন।
12 And Saul said, Hear now, thou son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I [am], my lord.
শৌল বললেন, “ওহে অহীটূবের ছেলে, শোনো।” “হ্যাঁ, প্রভু,” তিনি উত্তর দিলেন।
13 And Saul said unto him, Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in that thou hast given him bread, and a sword, and hast enquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?
শৌল তাঁকে বললেন, “তোমরা কেন আমার বিরুদ্ধে ষড়যন্ত্র করেছ, তুমি ও যিশয়ের সেই ছেলে; তুমি তাকে রুটি দিয়েছ, তরোয়াল দিয়েছ, আবার তার হয়ে ঈশ্বরের কাছে খোঁজও নিয়েছ, যেন সে আমার বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ করতে পারে ও আমার বিরুদ্ধে ঘাঁটি পেতে বসে থাকতে পারে, যেমনটি সে আজ করেছে?”
14 Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who [is so] faithful among all thy servants as David, which is the king’s son in law, and goeth at thy bidding, and is honourable in thine house?
অহীমেলক রাজামশাইকে উত্তর দিলেন, “আপনার দাসদের মধ্যে দাউদের মতো এত অনুগত আর কে আছেন, তিনি তো মহারাজের জামাই, আপনার দেহরক্ষীদের সর্দার ও আপনার পরিবারের সমস্ত লোকজনের মধ্যে সবচেয়ে সম্মানিত একজন ব্যক্তি?
15 Did I then begin to enquire of God for him? be it far from me: let not the king impute [any] thing unto his servant, [nor] to all the house of my father: for thy servant knew nothing of all this, less or more.
সেদিনই কি প্রথমবার আমি তাঁর হয়ে ঈশ্বরের কাছে খোঁজ নিয়েছিলাম? তা নিশ্চয় নয়! মহারাজ যেন আপনার দাসকে বা তার বাবার পরিবারের কাউকে দোষ না দেন, কারণ আপনার দাস এই গোটা ঘটনাটির বিন্দুবিসর্গও জানে না।”
16 And the king said, Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou, and all thy father’s house.
কিন্তু রাজামশাই বললেন, “অহীমেলক, তোমাকে মরতেই হবে, তোমাকে আর তোমার পুরো পরিবারকেই মরতে হবে।”
17 And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the LORD; because their hand also [is] with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not shew it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD.
পরে রাজামশাই তাঁর পাশে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকা পাহারাদারদের আদেশ দিলেন: “ঘুরে গিয়ে সদাপ্রভুর যাজকদের হত্যা করো, কারণ এরাও দাউদের পক্ষ নিয়েছে। ওরা জানত যে সে পালাচ্ছে, অথচ ওরা আমাকে সেকথা বলেনি।” কিন্তু রাজার কর্মচারীরা সদাপ্রভুর যাজকদের উপর হাত তুলতে চায়নি।
18 And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.
তখন রাজামশাই দোয়েগকে আদেশ দিলেন, “তুমি ঘুরে গিয়ে যাজকদের আঘাত করো।” ইদোমীয় দোয়েগ তখন ঘুরে গিয়ে আঘাত করে তাঁদের ধরাশায়ী করে ফেলেছিল। সেদিন সে মসিনার এফোদ গায়ে দেওয়া পঁচাশি জনকে হত্যা করল।
19 And Nob, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen, and asses, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.
এছাড়াও সে যাজকদের নগর নোবের উপর তরোয়াল চালিয়ে সেখানকার স্ত্রী-পুরুষ, ছেলেমেয়ে ও শিশু সন্তানদের, এবং পশুপাল, গাধা ও মেষদেরও শেষ করে ফেলেছিল।
20 And one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David.
কিন্তু অহীটূবের ছেলে অহীমেলকের একমাত্র ছেলে অবিয়াথর কোনোমতে রক্ষা পেয়ে দাউদের কাছে পালিয়ে গেলেন।
21 And Abiathar shewed David that Saul had slain the LORD’s priests.
তিনি দাউদকে বললেন, শৌল সদাপ্রভুর যাজকদের হত্যা করেছেন।
22 And David said unto Abiathar, I knew [it] that day, when Doeg the Edomite [was] there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have occasioned [the death] of all the persons of thy father’s house.
তখন দাউদ অবিয়াথরকে বললেন, “ইদোমীয় দোয়েগকে সেদিন যখন আমি সেখানে দেখেছিলাম, তখনই বুঝেছিলাম যে সে নিশ্চয় শৌলকে বলে দেবে। আপনার পুরো পরিবারের মৃত্যুর জন্য আমিই দায়ী।
23 Abide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou [shalt be] in safeguard.
আপনি আমার সঙ্গেই থাকুন; ভয় পাবেন না। যে আপনাকে হত্যা করতে চাইছে সে আমাকেও হত্যা করার চেষ্টা করছে। আপনি আমার কাছে নিরাপদেই থাকবেন।”
