1 Samuel 21
1 Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest: and Ahimelech was afraid at the meeting of David, and said unto him, Why [art] thou alone, and no man with thee?
Da stand er auf und ging. Jonatan aber kehrte in die Stadt zurück.
2 And David said unto Ahimelech the priest, The king hath commanded me a business, and hath said unto me, Let no man know any thing of the business whereabout I send thee, and what I have commanded thee: and I have appointed [my] servants to such and such a place.
David kam nun nach Nob zu dem Priester Achimelek. Und Achimelek eilte David entgegen und sprach zu ihm: "Warum kommst du allein? Weshalb ist niemand bei dir?"
3 Now therefore what is under thine hand? give [me] five [loaves of] bread in mine hand, or what there is present.
Da sprach David zum Priester Achimelek: "Der König hat mir einen Auftrag gegeben, sprach er doch zu mir: 'Niemand erfahre etwas von der Sache, deretwegen ich dich sende und die ich dir auftrage.' Die Diener aber habe ich an den und den Ort beschieden.
4 And the priest answered David, and said, [There is] no common bread under mine hand, but there is hallowed bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least from women.
Nun aber! Was hast du zur Hand? Gib mir fünf Brote oder was sonst da ist!"
5 And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women [have been] kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and [the bread is] in a manner common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel.
Der Priester antwortete dem David und sprach: "Es ist kein gewöhnliches Brot zur Hand. Nur geweihtes Brot ist da. Haben sich die Diener der Weiber enthalten?"
6 So the priest gave him hallowed [bread: ] for there was no bread there but the shewbread, that was taken from before the LORD, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away.
Da antwortete David dem Priester und sprach zu ihm: "Ja! Weiber sind uns in letzter Zeit versagt gewesen, als ich fortging. So blieben die Geschlechtsteile der Diener rein, obgleich es ein gewöhnliches Unternehmen war. Wieviel mehr ist man heute am Geschlechtsteil rein!"
7 Now a certain man of the servants of Saul [was] there that day, detained before the LORD; and his name [was] Doeg, an Edomite, the chiefest of the herdmen that [belonged] to Saul.
Da gab ihm der Priester Geweihtes. Denn dort war kein anderes Brot da als Schaubrote, die man vor dem Herrn weggenommen hatte, um frisches Brot aufzulegen, wenn man jenes wegnahm.
8 And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste.
Nun war dort an jenem Tage ein Mann von Sauls Dienern vor dem Herrn eingeschlossen, namens Doëg, der Edomiter, und Oberster der Hirten Sauls.
9 And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it [is here] wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take [it: ] for [there is] no other save that here. And David said, [There is] none like that; give it me.
David sprach nun zu Achimelek: "Ist bei dir nicht eine Lanze oder ein Schwert zu haben? Denn ich habe weder mein Schwert noch meine sonstigen Waffen mitgenommen, weil des Königs Sache drängte."
10 And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.
Da sprach der Priester: "Das Schwert des Philisters Goliat, den du im Terebinthental erschlugst, ist in ein großes Tuch eingehüllt hinter dem Ephod. Willst du es nehmen, so nimm es! Ein anderes sonst ist nicht hier." Da sprach David: "Keines wie dies! Gib es mir!"
11 And the servants of Achish said unto him, [Is] not this David the king of the land? did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands?
David brach nun auf und floh an jenem Tage vor Saul. So kam er zum König Akis von Gat.
12 And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath.
Da sprachen Akis Diener zu ihm: "Ist das nicht David, des Landes König? Sangen sie nicht ihm zu Ehren im Reigen: 'Saul hat seine Tausend erschlagen, David aber seine Zehntausend?'"
13 And he changed his behaviour before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.
David aber nahm sich diese Worte zu Herzen und fürchtete sich recht vor dem König Akis von Gat.
14 Then said Achish unto his servants, Lo, ye see the man is mad: wherefore [then] have ye brought him to me?
Und so entstellte er sein Gebaren vor ihnen und tat bei ihnen wie toll. Er schimpfte auf die Torflügel und ließ seinen Speichel in den Bart fließen.
15 Have I need of mad men, that ye have brought this [fellow] to play the mad man in my presence? shall this [fellow] come into my house?
Da sprach Akis zu seinen Dienern: "Ihr seht ja: ein toller Mensch! Weshalb bringt ihr ihn zu mir? Fehlt es mir an Tollen, daß ihr diesen bringt, sich bei mir auszutollen? Soll dieser in mein Haus kommen?"
