1 Samuel 11
1 Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabesh-gilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.
അനന്തരം അമ്മോന്യനായ നാഹാശ് പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നു ഗിലെയാദിലെ യാബേശിന്നു നേരെ പാളയം ഇറങ്ങി; യാബേശ് നിവാസികൾ ഒക്കെയും നാഹാശിനോടു: ഞങ്ങളോടു ഒരു ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്യേണം; എന്നാൽ ഞങ്ങൾ നിന്നെ സേവിക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
2 And Nahash the Ammonite answered them, On this [condition] will I make [a covenant] with you, that I may thrust out all your right eyes, and lay it [for] a reproach upon all Israel.
അമ്മോന്യനായ നാഹാശ് അവരോടു: നിങ്ങളുടെ വലങ്കണ്ണൊക്കെയും ചുഴന്നെടുക്കയും എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിന്മേലും ഈ നിന്ദ വരുത്തുകയും ചെയ്യും എന്നുള്ള സമ്മതത്തിന്മേൽ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്യാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
3 And the elders of Jabesh said unto him, Give us seven days’ respite, that we may send messengers unto all the coasts of Israel: and then, if [there be] no man to save us, we will come out to thee.
യാബേശിലെ മൂപ്പന്മാർ അവനോടു: ഞങ്ങൾ യിസ്രായേൽദേശത്തെല്ലാടവും ദൂതന്മാരെ അയപ്പാൻതക്കവണ്ണം ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ഏഴു ദിവസത്തെ ഇട തരേണം; ഞങ്ങളെ രക്ഷിപ്പാൻ ആരുമില്ലെങ്കിൽ ഞങ്ങൾ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഇറങ്ങിവരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
4 Then came the messengers to Gibeah of Saul, and told the tidings in the ears of the people: and all the people lifted up their voices, and wept.
ദൂതന്മാർ ശൗലിന്റെ ഗിബെയയിൽ ചെന്നു ആ വർത്തമാനം ജനത്തെ പറഞ്ഞു കേൾപ്പിച്ചു; ജനമെല്ലാം ഉറക്കെ കരഞ്ഞു.
5 And, behold, Saul came after the herd out of the field; and Saul said, What [aileth] the people that they weep? And they told him the tidings of the men of Jabesh.
അപ്പോൾ ഇതാ, ശൗൽ കന്നുകാലികളെയും കൊണ്ടു വയലിൽനിന്നു വരുന്നു. ജനം കരയുന്ന സംഗതി എന്തു എന്നു ശൗൽ ചോദിച്ചു. അവർ യാബേശ്യരുടെ വർത്തമാനം അവനെ അറിയിച്ചു.
6 And the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard those tidings, and his anger was kindled greatly.
ശൗൽ വർത്തമാനം കേട്ടപ്പോൾ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവു അവന്റെമേൽ ശക്തിയോടെ വന്നു; അവന്റെ കോപം ഏറ്റവും ജ്വലിച്ചു.
7 And he took a yoke of oxen, and hewed them in pieces, and sent [them] throughout all the coasts of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying, Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done unto his oxen. And the fear of the LORD fell on the people, and they came out with one consent.
അവൻ ഒരേർ കാളയെ പിടിച്ചു കഷണംകഷണമായി ഖണ്ഡിച്ചു ദൂതന്മാരുടെ കയ്യിൽ യിസ്രായേൽദേശത്തെല്ലാടവും കൊടുത്തയച്ചു: ആരെങ്കിലും ശൗലിന്റെയും ശമൂവേലിന്റെയും പിന്നാലെ പുറപ്പെട്ടുവരാതിരുന്നാൽ അവന്റെ കാളകളെ ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യും എന്നു പറയിച്ചു. അപ്പോൾ യഹോവയുടെ ഭീതി ജനത്തിന്മേൽ വീണു, അവർ ഏകമനസ്സോടെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു.
8 And when he numbered them in Bezek, the children of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand.
അവൻ ബേസെക്കിൽവെച്ചു അവരെ എണ്ണി; യിസ്രായേല്യർ മൂന്നു ലക്ഷവും യെഹൂദ്യർ മുപ്പതിനായിരവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
9 And they said unto the messengers that came, Thus shall ye say unto the men of Jabesh-gilead, To morrow, by [that time] the sun be hot, ye shall have help. And the messengers came and shewed [it] to the men of Jabesh; and they were glad.
വന്ന ദൂതന്മാരോടു അവർ: നിങ്ങൾ ഗിലെയാദിലെ യാബേശ്യരോടു: നാളെ വെയിൽ മൂക്കുമ്പോഴേക്കു നിങ്ങൾക്കു രക്ഷ ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നു പറവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ദൂതന്മാർ ചെന്നു യാബേശ്യരോടു അറിയിച്ചപ്പോൾ അവർ സന്തോഷിച്ചു.
10 Therefore the men of Jabesh said, To morrow we will come out unto you, and ye shall do with us all that seemeth good unto you.
പിന്നെ യാബേശ്യർ: നാളെ ഞങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ ഇറങ്ങിവരും; നിങ്ങൾക്കു ബോധിച്ചതൊക്കെയും ഞങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്തുകൊൾവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു.
11 And it was [so] on the morrow, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the host in the morning watch, and slew the Ammonites until the heat of the day: and it came to pass, that they which remained were scattered, so that two of them were not left together.
പിറ്റെന്നാൾ ശൗൽ ജനത്തെ മൂന്നു കൂട്ടമായി വിഭാഗിച്ചു; അവർ പ്രഭാതയാമത്തിൽ പാളയത്തിന്റെ നടുവിലേക്കു ചെന്നു വെയിൽ മൂക്കുംവരെ അമ്മോന്യരെ സംഹരിച്ചു; ശേഷിച്ചവരോ രണ്ടു പേർ ഒന്നിച്ചിരിക്കാതവണ്ണം ചിതറിപ്പോയി.
12 And the people said unto Samuel, Who [is] he that said, Shall Saul reign over us? bring the men, that we may put them to death.
അനന്തരം ജനം ശമൂവേലിനോടു: ശൗൽ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു രാജാവായിരിക്കുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതു ആർ? അവരെ ഏല്പിച്ചുതരേണം; ഞങ്ങൾ അവരെ കൊന്നുകളയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
13 And Saul said, There shall not a man be put to death this day: for to day the LORD hath wrought salvation in Israel.
അതിന്നു ശൗൽ: ഇന്നു ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെയും കൊല്ലരുതു; ഇന്നു യഹോവ യസ്രായേലിന്നു രക്ഷ വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
14 Then said Samuel to the people, Come, and let us go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there.
പിന്നെ ശമൂവേൽ ജനത്തോടു: വരുവിൻ; നാം ഗില്ഗാലിൽ ചെന്നു, അവിടെവെച്ചു രാജത്വം പുതുക്കുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
15 And all the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before the LORD in Gilgal; and there they sacrificed sacrifices of peace offerings before the LORD; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.
അങ്ങനെ ജനമെല്ലാം ഗില്ഗാലിൽ ചെന്നു; അവർ ശൗലിനെ ഗില്ഗാലിൽ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽവെച്ചു രാജാവാക്കി. അവർ അവിടെ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ സമാധാനയാഗങ്ങൾ കഴിച്ചു; ശൗലും യിസ്രായേല്യരൊക്കെയും ഏറ്റവും സന്തോഷിച്ചു.
