1 Peter 2
1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
Deixando pois toda a malicia, e todo o engano, e fingimentos, e invejas, e todas as murmurações,
2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
Desejae affectuosamente, como meninos novamente nascidos, o leite racional, não falsificado, para que por elle vades crescendo;
3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord [is] gracious.
Se já provastes que o Senhor é benigno:
4 To whom coming, [as unto] a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, [and] precious,
E, chegando-vos para elle como para uma pedra viva, reprovada, na verdade, pelos homens, mas para com Deus eleita e preciosa,
5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
Vós tambem, como pedras vivas, sois edificados casa espiritual e sacerdocio sancto, para offerecer sacrificios espirituaes agradaveis a Deus por Jesus Christo.
6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
Pelo que tambem na Escriptura se contém: Eis que ponho em Sião a pedra principal da esquina, eleita e preciosa; e quem n'ella crer não será confundido.
7 Unto you therefore which believe [he is] precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
Assim que para vós, os que credes, é preciosa, mas para os rebeldes a pedra que os edificadores reprovaram essa foi feita a cabeça da esquina;
8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, [even to them] which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
E uma pedra de tropeço e rocha de escandalo, para aquelles que tropeçam na palavra, sendo desobedientes; para o que tambem foram destinados.
9 But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
Mas vós sois a geração eleita, o sacerdocio real, a nação sancta, o povo adquirido, para que annuncieis as virtudes d'aquelle que vos chamou das trevas para a sua maravilhosa luz:
10 Which in time past [were] not a people, but [are] now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
Vós, que d'antes não ereis povo, mas agora sois povo de Deus; que não tinheis alcançado misericordia, mas agora alcançastes misericordia.
11 Dearly beloved, I beseech [you] as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
Amados, admoesto-vos, como peregrinos e forasteiros, a que vos abstenhaes das concupiscencias carnaes que combatem contra a alma;
12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by [your] good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
Tendo o vosso viver honesto entre os gentios; para que, n'aquillo em que fallam mal de vós, como de malfeitores, glorifiquem a Deus no dia da visitação, pelas boas obras que em vós virem.
13 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
Sujeitae-vos pois a toda a ordenação humana por amor do Senhor: seja ao rei, como ao superior;
14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.
Seja aos governadores, como aos que por elle são enviados para castigo dos malfeitores, e para louvor dos que fazem o bem.
15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
Porque assim é a vontade de Deus, que, fazendo bem, tapeis a bocca á ignorancia dos homens loucos:
16 As free, and not using [your] liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
Como libertos, e não como tendo a liberdade por cobertura da malicia, mas como servos de Deus.
17 Honour all [men]. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
Honrae a todos. Amae a fraternidade. Temei a Deus. Honrae o rei.
18 Servants, [be] subject to [your] masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.
Vós, servos, sujeitae-vos com todo o temor aos senhores, não sómente aos bons e humanos, mas tambem aos rigorosos.
19 For this [is] thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
Porque é coisa agradavel, se alguem, por causa da consciencia para com Deus, soffre aggravos, padecendo injustamente.
20 For what glory [is it], if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer [for it], ye take it patiently, this [is] acceptable with God.
Porque, que louvor é, se, peccando, sois esbofeteados e soffreis? Mas se, fazendo bem, sois affligidos, e o soffreis, isso é agradavel a Deus.
21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
Porque para isto sois chamados; pois tambem Christo padeceu por nós, deixando-nos o exemplo, para que sigaes as suas pisadas.
22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
O qual não commetteu peccado, nem na sua bocca se achou engano.
23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed [himself] to him that judgeth righteously:
O qual, quando o injuriavam, não injuriava, e quando padecia não ameaçava, mas entregava-se áquelle que julga justamente:
24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
O qual levou elle mesmo em seu corpo os nossos peccados sobre o madeiro, para que, mortos para os peccados, vivamos para a justiça; por cuja ferida sarastes.
25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
Porque ereis como ovelhas desgarradas: mas agora estaes convertidos ao Pastor e Bispo das vossas almas.
