1 Kings 9

1 And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the LORD, and the king’s house, and all Solomon’s desire which he was pleased to do,

Als nun Salomo den Bau des Tempels Jahwes und des königlichen Palastes und jeglichen Plan Salomos, nach dessen Ausführung er Verlangen getragen, zu Ende geführt hatte,

2 That the LORD appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared unto him at Gibeon.

da erschien Jahwe dem Salomo zum anderen Male, wie er ihm zu Gibeon erschienen war.

3 And the LORD said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

Und Jahwe sprach zu ihm: Ich habe dein Gebet und dein Flehen gehört, das du vor mich gebracht hast. Ich habe diesen Tempel, den du erbaut hast, zu einem Heiligtume gemacht, indem ich meinen Namen für immer daselbst wohnen lasse, und meine Augen und mein Herz sollen immerdar daselbst weilen.

4 And if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, [and] wilt keep my statutes and my judgments:

Wenn du nun vor mir wandeln wirst, wie dein Vater David gewandelt hat, in Herzenseinfalt und in Aufrichtigkeit, daß du thust, ganz wie ich dir geboten habe, und meine Satzungen und Rechte beobachtest:

5 Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.

So will ich den Thron deines Königtums über Israel für immer bestätigen, wie ich deinem Vater David verheißen habe, indem ich sprach: Es soll dir nie fehlen an einem Nachkommen auf dem Thron Israels.

6 [But] if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments [and] my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them:

Werdet ihr euch aber doch von mir abwenden, ihr und eure Kinder, und meine Gebote und Satzungen, die ich euch vorgelegt habe, nicht beobachten, sondern hingehen und andere Götter verehren und euch vor ihnen niederwerfen:

7 Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people:

so werde ich Israel wegtilgen von dem Boden, den ich ihnen verliehen habe, und werde den Tempel, den ich meinem Namen geheiligt habe, verworfen sein lassen vor meinem Angesicht, und Israel soll ein Gegenstand des Spottes und Hohnes werden unter allen Völkern.

8 And at this house, [which] is high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and to this house?

Und dieser Tempel, der erhaben war, soll zu Trümmern werden; jeder, der an ihm vorübergeht, wird sich entsetzen und zischen, und wenn man dann fragen wird: Warum hat Jahwe diesem Land und diesem Tempel Solches angethan?

9 And they shall answer, Because they forsook the LORD their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have taken hold upon other gods, and have worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath the LORD brought upon them all this evil.

So wird man antworten: Darum, daß sie Jahwe, ihren Gott, der ihre Väter aus Ägypten herausführte, verlassen und sich zu anderen Göttern gehalten haben und haben sich vor ihnen niedergeworfen und ihnen gedient, - darum hat Jahwe all' dieses Unglück über sie gebracht!

10 And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, when Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the LORD, and the king’s house,

Nach Ablauf der zwanzig Jahre aber, in welchen Salomo die beiden Gebäude, den Tempel Jahwes und den königlichen Palast, errichtet hatte,

11 ([Now] Hiram the king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with cedar trees and fir trees, and with gold, according to all his desire, ) that then king Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.

- Hiram nämlich, der König von Tyrus, hatte Salomo unterstützt mit Cedern- und Cypressenbalken, sowie mit Gold, soviel er begehrte, - damals trat der König Salomo dem Hiram zwanzig Städte in der Landschaft Galiläa ab.

12 And Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him; and they pleased him not.

Und Hiram zog aus von Tyrus, um die Städte zu besehen, die ihm Salomo abgetreten hatte, aber sie gefielen ihm nicht.

13 And he said, What cities [are] these which thou hast given me, my brother? And he called them the land of Cabul unto this day.

Da sprach er: Was sind das für Städte, die du mir da abgetreten hast, mein Bruder! Daher nennt man sie die Landschaft Kabul bis auf den heutigen Tag.

14 And Hiram sent to the king sixscore talents of gold.

Hiram aber sandte dem König hundert und zwanzig Talente Goldes.

15 And this [is] the reason of the levy which king Solomon raised; for to build the house of the LORD, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.

Und also verhielt sich's mit der Fron, die der König Salomo aushob, um den Tempel Jahwes und seinen Palast, das Millo und die Mauer Jerusalems, sowie die Befestigungen von Hazor, Megiddo und Geser zu erbauen.

16 [For] Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up, and taken Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slain the Canaanites that dwelt in the city, and given it [for] a present unto his daughter, Solomon’s wife.

Der Pharao nämlich, der König von Ägypten, war herangezogen, hatte Geser erobert und eingeäschert und die Kanaaniter niedergemetzelt, die die Stadt bewohnten, und hatte dieselbe seiner Tochter, der Gemahlin Salomos, zur Mitgift gegeben.

17 And Solomon built Gezer, and Beth-horon the nether,

Also befestigte Salomo Geser und das untere Beth-Horon

18 And Baalath, and Tadmor in the wilderness, in the land,

und Baalath und Thamar in der Steppe im Lande

19 And all the cities of store that Solomon had, and cities for his chariots, and cities for his horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.

und alle Vorratsstädte, die Salomo gehörten, und die Wagenstädte und die Städte für die Reiter und was immer Salomo zu Jerusalem, auf dem Libanon und im ganzen Bereiche seiner Herrschaft zu erbauen wünschte.

20 [And] all the people [that were] left of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, which [were] not of the children of Israel,

Alles nun, was noch übrig war, von den Amoritern, Hethitern, Pheresitern, Hevitern und Jebusitern, die nicht zu den Israeliten gehörten,

21 Their children that were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel also were not able utterly to destroy, upon those did Solomon levy a tribute of bondservice unto this day.

- die Nachkommen von ihnen, die noch übrig waren im Lande, an denen die Israeliten den Bann nicht hatten vollstrecken können, - die hob Salomo zum Frondienst aus, und so fronen sie bis auf den heutigen Tag.

22 But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no bondmen: but they [were] men of war, and his servants, and his princes, and his captains, and rulers of his chariots, and his horsemen.

Von den Israeliten aber machte Salomo niemand zum Leibeigenen, sondern sie waren die Kriegsleute und seine Beamten, seine Obersten und Wagenkämpfer, die Befehlshaber über seine Wagen und Reiter.

23 These [were] the chief of the officers that [were] over Solomon’s work, five hundred and fifty, which bare rule over the people that wrought in the work.

Dies waren die obersten Beamten der Vögte, die über das Werk Salomos gesetzt waren: 550, welche über die Leute, die bei dem Werke beschäftigt waren, die Aufsicht führten.

24 But Pharaoh’s daughter came up out of the city of David unto her house which [Solomon] had built for her: then did he build Millo.

Kaum aber war die Tochter des Pharao aus der Stadt Davids heraufgezogen in ihr eigenes Haus, das er für sie erbaut hatte, da baute er das Millo.

25 And three times in a year did Solomon offer burnt offerings and peace offerings upon the altar which he built unto the LORD, and he burnt incense upon the altar that [was] before the LORD. So he finished the house.

Und Salomo opferte dreimal im Jahre Brandopfer und Heilsopfer auf dem Altare, den er Jahwe erbaut hatte, und räucherte mit ihm, was vor Jahwe war, und vollendete das Haus.

26 And king Solomon made a navy of ships in Ezion-geber, which [is] beside Eloth, on the shore of the Red sea, in the land of Edom.

Auch Schiffe erbaute der König Salomo zu Ezeon-Geber, das bei Eloth am Ufer des Schilfmeers im Lande Edom liegt.

27 And Hiram sent in the navy his servants, shipmen that had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon.

Und Hiram sandte auf der Flotte Unterthanen von sich - Schiffsleute, die mit dem Meere vertraut waren, - zusammen mit den Unterthanen Salomos.

28 And they came to Ophir, and fetched from thence gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought [it] to king Solomon.

Und sie gelangten nach Ophir und holten von dort Gold - 420 Talente - und brachten es zum Könige Salomo.
