1 Kings 15

1 Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam the son of Nebat reigned Abijam over Judah.

Ainsi en la dix-huitième année du règne de Jéroboam, fils de Nabath, Abiam régna sur Juda.

2 Three years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name [was] Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.

Il régna trois ans dans Jérusalem; le nom de sa mère était Maacha, fille d’Abessalom.

3 And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father.

Et il marcha dans tous les péchés que son père avait commis avant lui, et son cœur n’était point parfait avec le Seigneur son Dieu, comme le cœur de David son père.

4 Nevertheless for David’s sake did the LORD his God give him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to establish Jerusalem:

Mais, à cause de David, le Seigneur son Dieu lui donna une lampe dans Jérusalem, en sorte qu’il suscita son fils après lui, et maintint Jérusalem,

5 Because David did [that which was] right in the eyes of the LORD, and turned not aside from any [thing] that he commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

Parce que David avait fait ce qui était droit aux yeux du Seigneur, et qu’il ne s’était point détourné de tout ce qu’il lui avait commandé, durant tous les jours de sa vie, excepté le fait touchant Urie, l’Héthéen.

6 And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.

Cependant il y eut guerre entre Roboam et Jéroboam, pendant tout le temps de la vie de Roboam.

7 Now the rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, [are] they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.

Mais le reste des actions d’Abiam, et tout ce qu’il fit, n’est-ce pas écrit dans le Livre des actions des jours des rois de Juda? Et il y eut une bataille entre Abiam et Jéroboam.

8 And Abijam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead.

Et Abiam dormit avec ses pères, et on l’ensevelit dans la cité de David; et son fils Asa régna en sa place.

9 And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel reigned Asa over Judah.

Ainsi en la vingtième année de Jéroboam, roi d’Israël, Asa, roi de Juda, régna.

10 And forty and one years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name [was] Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.

Et il régna quarante-un ans dans Jérusalem. Le nom de sa mère était Maacha, fille d’Abessalom.

11 And Asa did [that which was] right in the eyes of the LORD, as [did] David his father.

Et Asa fit ce qui était droit en la présence du Seigneur, comme David son père;

12 And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

Et il chassa les efféminés du pays, et le purifia de toutes les souillures des idoles que ses pères avaient fabriquées.

13 And also Maachah his mother, even her he removed from [being] queen, because she had made an idol in a grove; and Asa destroyed her idol, and burnt [it] by the brook Kidron.

De plus, il éloigna même sa mère Maacha, afin qu’elle ne fût pas préposée aux sacrifices de Priape, et à son bois sacré qu’elle avait consacré; et il renversa sa caverne, et il brisa le simulacre très obscène, et le brûla dans le torrent de Cédron.

14 But the high places were not removed: nevertheless Asa’s heart was perfect with the LORD all his days.

Mais il ne détruisit pas les hauts lieux. Toutefois le cœur d’Asa fut parfait avec le Seigneur durant tous ses jours;

15 And he brought in the things which his father had dedicated, and the things which himself had dedicated, into the house of the LORD, silver, and gold, and vessels.

Il porta aussi ce qu’avait consacré son père, et qu’il avait voué dans la maison du Seigneur, de l’argent, de l’or, et des vases.

16 And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

Or il y eut guerre entre Asa et Baasa, roi d’Israël, durant tous leurs jours.

17 And Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

Et Baasa, roi d’Israël, vint contre Juda et bâtit Rama, afin que personne ne pût sortir ou entrer du côté d’Asa, roi de Juda.

18 Then Asa took all the silver and the gold [that were] left in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants: and king Asa sent them to Ben-hadad, the son of Tabrimon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,

C’est pourquoi Asa, prenant tout l’argent et l’or qui étaient demeurés dans les trésors de la maison du Seigneur et dans les trésors de la maison du roi, les mit entre les mains de ses serviteurs, et les envoya à Bénadad, fils de Tabremon, fils d’Hézion, roi de Syrie, qui habitait à Damas, disant:

19 [There is] a league between me and thee, [and] between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent unto thee a present of silver and gold; come and break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.

Il y a alliance entre moi et vous, et entre mon père et votre père: c’est pourquoi je vous ai envoyé des présents, de l’argent et de l’or, et je vous prie de venir, et de rendre vaine l’alliance que vous avez avec Baasa, roi d’Israël, afin qu’il se retire loin de moi.

20 So Ben-hadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of the hosts which he had against the cities of Israel, and smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-beth-maachah, and all Cinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.

Bénadad, écoutant le roi Asa, envoya les princes de son armée contre les villes d’Israël, et ils prirent d’assaut Ahion, Dan, Abel maison de Maacha, et Cennéroth tout entière, c’est-à-dire toute la terre de Nephthali.

21 And it came to pass, when Baasha heard [thereof], that he left off building of Ramah, and dwelt in Tirzah.

Ce qu’ayant appris, Baasa cessa de bâtir Rama, et revint à Thersa.

22 Then king Asa made a proclamation throughout all Judah; none [was] exempted: and they took away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha had builded; and king Asa built with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.

Or le roi Asa envoya un messager dans tout Juda, disant: Que personne ne soit exempté. Et on emporta les pierres de Rama et les bois avec lesquels Baasa avait bâti, et le roi Asa en construisit Gabaa en Benjamin, et Maspha.

23 The rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, [are] they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? Nevertheless in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.

, Mais le reste de toutes les actions d’Asa, tous ses traits de courage, tout ce qu’il fit, et les villes qu’il bâtit, n’est-ce pas écrit dans le Livre des actions des jours des rois de Juda? Cependant dans le temps de sa vieillesse, il souffrit de ses pieds;

24 And Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead.

Et il dormit avec ses pères, et il fut enseveli avec eux dans la cité de David son père. Et Josaphat, son fils, régna eu sa place.

25 And Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned over Israel two years.

Or Nadab, fils de Jéroboam, régna sur Israël la seconde année d’Asa, roi de Juda; et il régna deux ans sur Israël.

26 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.

Et il fit ce qui est mal en la présence du Seigneur, et il marcha dans les voies de son père et dans les péchés par lesquels il fit pécher Israël.

27 And Baasha the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Baasha smote him at Gibbethon, which [belonged] to the Philistines; for Nadab and all Israel laid siege to Gibbethon.

Mais Baasa, fils d’Ahias, de la maison d’Issachar, lui tendit des embûches et le tua près de Gebbethon, qui est une ville des Philistins; vu que Nadab et tout Israël assiégeaient Gebbethon.

28 Even in the third year of Asa king of Judah did Baasha slay him, and reigned in his stead.

Baasa tua donc Nadab, et il régna en sa place, la troisième année d’Asa, roi de Juda.

29 And it came to pass, when he reigned, [that] he smote all the house of Jeroboam; he left not to Jeroboam any that breathed, until he had destroyed him, according unto the saying of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Ahijah the Shilonite:

Et lorsque Baasa fut devenu roi, il tua toute la maison de Jéroboam: il n’en laissa pas même une seule âme de sa race, jusqu’à ce qu’il l’eût exterminée, selon la parole que le Seigneur avait dite par l’entremise de son serviteur Ahias, le Silonite,

30 Because of the sins of Jeroboam which he sinned, and which he made Israel sin, by his provocation wherewith he provoked the LORD God of Israel to anger.

À cause des péchés que Jéroboam avait commis et par lesquels il avait fait pécher Israël, et à cause du péché par lequel il avait irrité le Seigneur Dieu d’Israël.

31 Now the rest of the acts of Nadab, and all that he did, [are] they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

Mais le reste des actions de Nadab, et tout ce qu’il fit, n’est-ce pas écrit dans le Livre des actions des jours des rois d’Israël?

32 And there was war between Asa and Baasha king of Israel all their days.

Et il y eut guerre entre Asa et Baasa, roi d’Israël, durant tous leurs jours.

33 In the third year of Asa king of Judah began Baasha the son of Ahijah to reign over all Israel in Tirzah, twenty and four years.

La troisième année d’Asa, roi de Juda, Baasa, fils d’Ahias, régna sur tout Israël à Thersa pendant vingt-quatre ans.

34 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.

Et il fit le mal devant le Seigneur, et il marcha dans la voie de Jéroboam et dans les péchés par lesquels il avait fait pécher Israël.
