1 Corinthians 11
1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also [am] of Christ.
Soyez mes imitateurs, comme je le suis moi-même du Christ.
2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered [them] to you.
Or je vous loue, frères, de ce que vous vous souvenez de moi en toutes choses, et de ce que vous retenez les traditions, comme je vous les ai transmises.
3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman [is] the man; and the head of Christ [is] God.
Mais je veux que vous sachiez que le chef de tout homme est le Christ, que le chef de la femme est l'homme, et que le chef du Christ est Dieu.
4 Every man praying or prophesying, having [his] head covered, dishonoureth his head.
Tout homme qui prie ou qui prophétise, la tête couverte, déshonore sa tête.
5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with [her] head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
Mais toute femme qui prie ou qui prophétise, la tête découverte, déshonore sa tête. Car c'est une seule et même chose que si elle était rasée.
6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
Car si une femme n'est pas couverte, qu'on lui coupe aussi les cheveux. Mais s'il est honteux pour une femme de se faire couper les cheveux ou de se raser, qu'elle soit couverte.
7 For a man indeed ought not to cover [his] head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
En effet, l'homme ne doit pas se couvrir la tête, parce qu'il est l'image et la gloire de Dieu, mais la femme est la gloire de l'homme.
8 For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.
Car l'homme ne vient pas de la femme, mais la femme vient de l'homme;
9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.
car l'homme n'a pas été créé pour la femme, mais la femme pour l'homme.
10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on [her] head because of the angels.
C'est pourquoi la femme doit avoir autorité sur sa propre tête, à cause des anges.
11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
Néanmoins, dans le Seigneur, la femme n'est pas indépendante de l'homme, ni l'homme indépendant de la femme.
12 For as the woman [is] of the man, even so [is] the man also by the woman; but all things of God.
Car, de même que la femme est issue de l'homme, de même l'homme est issu de la femme; mais tout vient de Dieu.
13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?
Jugez-en par vous-mêmes. Est-il convenable qu'une femme prie Dieu sans être voilée?
14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
La nature elle-même ne vous apprend-elle pas que si un homme a les cheveux longs, c'est un déshonneur pour lui?
15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for [her] hair is given her for a covering.
Mais si une femme a les cheveux longs, c'est une gloire pour elle, car ses cheveux lui sont donnés pour couverture.
16 But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.
Mais si quelqu'un a l'air de se disputer, nous n'avons pas cette coutume, ni les assemblées de Dieu.
17 Now in this that I declare [unto you] I praise [you] not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.
Mais en vous donnant ce commandement, je ne vous félicite pas, car vous vous réunissez non pas pour le meilleur, mais pour le pire.
18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
Car tout d'abord, lorsque vous vous réunissez en assemblée, j'entends dire qu'il y a des divisions parmi vous, et je le crois en partie.
19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.
En effet, il faut qu'il y ait aussi des divisions parmi vous, afin que ceux qui sont approuvés se révèlent parmi vous.
20 When ye come together therefore into one place, [this] is not to eat the Lord’s supper.
Quand donc vous vous réunissez, ce n'est pas le repas du Seigneur que vous mangez.
21 For in eating every one taketh before [other] his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.
Car, dans vos repas, chacun prend d'abord son propre repas. L'un a faim, et l'autre est ivre.
22 What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise [you] not.
Quoi, n'avez-vous pas des maisons pour manger et pour boire? Ou bien méprisez-vous l'assemblée de Dieu et faites-vous honte à ceux qui n'ont pas assez? Que vous dirai-je? Dois-je vous louer? En cela, je ne vous loue pas.
23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the [same] night in which he was betrayed took bread:
Car j'ai reçu du Seigneur ce que je vous ai aussi transmis, à savoir que le Seigneur Jésus, dans la nuit où il fut livré, prit du pain.
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake [it], and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
Après avoir rendu grâces, il le rompit et dit: Prenez, mangez. Ceci est mon corps, qui est rompu pour vous. Faites ceci en mémoire de moi. »
25 After the same manner also [he took] the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink [it], in remembrance of me.
De même, après le repas, il prit la coupe, en disant: « Cette coupe est la nouvelle alliance en mon sang. Faites ceci, chaque fois que vous en buvez, en mémoire de moi. »
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.
En effet, chaque fois que vous mangez ce pain et que vous buvez cette coupe, vous annoncez la mort du Seigneur jusqu'à ce qu'il vienne.
27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink [this] cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
C'est pourquoi quiconque mange ce pain ou boit la coupe du Seigneur d'une manière indigne du Seigneur sera coupable du corps et du sang du Seigneur.
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of [that] bread, and drink of [that] cup.
Mais que l'homme s'examine lui-même, et qu'ainsi il mange du pain et boive de la coupe.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.
Car celui qui mange et boit d'une manière indigne mange et boit un jugement sur lui-même, s'il ne discerne pas le corps du Seigneur.
30 For this cause many [are] weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
C'est pourquoi plusieurs d'entre vous sont faibles et malades, et il n'y en a pas beaucoup qui dorment.
31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
Car si nous discernions nous-mêmes, nous ne serions pas jugés.
32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
Mais quand nous sommes jugés, nous sommes disciplinés par le Seigneur, afin que nous ne soyons pas condamnés avec le monde.
33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.
C'est pourquoi, mes frères, lorsque vous vous réunissez pour manger, attendez-vous les uns les autres.
34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.
Mais si quelqu'un a faim, qu'il mange chez lui, afin que votre réunion ne soit pas un jugement. Le reste, je le mettrai en ordre quand je viendrai.
