Psalms 74
1 O God, why have you cast us off for ever? why does your anger smoke against the sheep of your pasture?
Ihubo lika-Asafu Kungani ususilahlile kokuphela na, awu Nkulunkulu? Kungani ulaka lwakho luvutha phezu kwezimvu zedlelo lakho na?
2 Remember your congregation, which you have purchased of old; the rod of your inheritance, which you have redeemed; this mount Zion, wherein you have dwelt.
Khumbula abantu owabathengayo ekadeni, isizwe selifa lakho owasihlengayo iNtaba iZiyoni, owawuhlala khona.
3 Lift up your feet unto the perpetual desolations; even all that the enemy has done wickedly in the sanctuary.
Phenduka ungene emanxiweni aphakade la, incithakalo yonke le yenziwe yisitha endlini engcwele.
4 your enemies roar in the midst of your congregations; they set up their ensigns for signs.
Izitha zakho zazibhonga endaweni owawuhlangana lathi kuyo; zamisa impawu zazo njengeziboniso.
5 A man was famous according as he had lifted up axes upon the thick trees.
Zenza njengabantu abaphakamise amahloka ukuphendla indlela yabo eguswini.
6 But now they break down the carved work thereof at once with axes and hammers.
Zafohloza konke okubaziweyo ngamahloka azo langezando.
7 They have cast fire into your sanctuary, they have defiled by casting down the dwelling place of your name to the ground.
Zatshisa indlu yakho engcwele yaphela nya; zangcolisa indawo ehlala iBizo lakho.
8 They said in their hearts, Let us destroy them together: they have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land.
Zathi ngezinhliziyo zazo, “Sizababhuqa baphele nya!” Zatshisa zonke izindawo zokukhonzela uNkulunkulu elizweni.
9 We see not our signs: there is no more any prophet: neither is there among us any that knows how long.
Kasisaboniswa mimangaliso; kakuselabuphrofethi, kakho kithi owaziyo ukuthi kuzaze kube nini kunjalo.
10 O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme your name for ever?
Koze kube nini isitha sikuklolodela na, awu Nkulunkulu? Izitha zizalithuka kokuphela ibizo lakho na?
11 Why withdraw you your hand, even your right hand? pluck it out of your bosom.
Kungani ufinyeza isandla sakho sokunene na? Sikhuphe ezingoxweni zezembatho zakho ubabhubhise.
12 For God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.
Kodwa wena Nkulunkulu uyiNkosi yami kwasekadeni; uletha insindiso emhlabeni.
13 You did divide the sea by your strength: you brake the heads of the dragons in the waters.
Kwakunguwe owaqhekeza ulwandle ngamandla akho; wafohloza amakhanda esilo phakathi kwamanzi.
14 You brake the heads of leviathan (sea serpent) in pieces, and gave him to be food to the people inhabiting the wilderness.
Kwakunguwe owachoboza amakhanda kaLeviyathani waba yikudla kwezidalwa zasenkangala.
15 You did cleave the fountain and the flood: you dried up mighty rivers.
Kwakunguwe owavula imithombo lemifula; womisa qha imifula eyayihlala igeleza.
16 The day is yours, the night also is yours: you have prepared the light and the sun.
Imini ngeyakho, ngobakho njalo lobusuku; walimisa ilanga kanye lenyanga.
17 You have set all the borders of the earth: you have made summer and winter.
Kwakunguwe owamisa imingcele yonke yomhlaba; wenza ihlobo kanye lobusika.
18 Remember this, that the enemy has reproached, O LORD, and that the foolish people have blasphemed your name.
Khumbula ukuthi isitha besikuklolodela, Thixo, ukuthi iziwula bezihlambaza ibizo lakho.
19 O deliver not the soul of your turtledove unto the multitude of the wicked: forget not the congregation of your poor for ever.
Ungaqhubeli umphefumulo wejuba lakho ezinyamazaneni; ungaze wakhohlwa kokuphela impilo yabantu bakho abahluphekayo.
20 Have respect unto the covenant: for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty.
Nanzelela isivumelwano sakho, ngoba izikhundla zobugebenga zigcwele kulolonke ilizwe ezindaweni ezilamathunzi.
21 O let not the oppressed return ashamed: let the poor and needy praise your name.
Ungayekeli abancindezelweyo babuyele beyangekile; sengathi abayanga labaswelayo bangalidumisa ibizo lakho.
22 Arise, O God, plead your own cause: remember how the foolish man reproaches you daily.
Phakama, awu Nkulunkulu, vikela okungokwakho; khumbula ukuthi iziwula zikuhleka njani ilanga lonke.
23 Forget not the voice of your enemies: the tumult of those that rise up against you increases continually.
Ungakulibali ukuvungama kwalabo abalwa lawe, ukuxokozela kwezitha zakho, okuzwakala kokuphela.
