Psalms 57
1 Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusts in you: yea, in the shadow of your wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities pass over.
Au maître-chantre. — «Ne détruis pas.» — Poème de David, lorsqu'il s'enfuit dans la caverne, poursuivi par Saül. Aie pitié, ô Dieu, aie pitié de moi; Car mon âme cherche en toi son refuge. Je me réfugie à l'ombre de tes ailes. Jusqu'à ce que la calamité soit passée.
2 I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performs all things for me.
Je crie vers le Dieu Très-Haut, Vers le Dieu fort qui agira pour moi.
3 He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. (Selah) God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.
Il m'enverra des cieux sa délivrance. Tandis que mon persécuteur me couvre d'outrages. (Pause) Oui, Dieu m'enverra sa grâce et son secours fidèle.
4 My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.
Mon âme est au milieu des lions; J'habite avec des hommes qui vomissent des flammes Dont les dents sont des lances et des flèches, Et dont la langue est un glaive acéré.
5 Be you exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be above all the earth.
Dieu, élève-toi au-dessus des cieux! Que ta gloire couvre toute la terre!
6 They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have dug a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. (Selah)
Ils avaient tendu un piège sous mes pas; Mon âme chancelait; Ils avaient creusé une fosse devant moi: Ils y sont tombés! (Pause)
7 My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.
Mon coeur est bien disposé, ô Dieu! Oui, mon coeur est bien disposé Pour chanter, pour psalmodier.
8 Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.
Réveille-toi, mon âme; réveillez-vous, mon luth et ma harpe: Je veux devancer l'aurore.
9 I will praise you, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto you among the nations.
Je te célébrerai parmi les peuples. Seigneur! Je te louerai parmi les nations;
10 For your mercy is great unto the heavens, and your truth unto the clouds.
Car ta bonté atteint jusqu'aux cieux. Et ta fidélité jusqu'aux nues.
11 Be you exalted, O God, above the heavens: let your glory be above all the earth.
O Dieu, élève-toi au-dessus des cieux! Que ta gloire couvre toute la terre!
