< Psalms 5 >
1 Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my (meditation)
“To the chief musician upon Nechiloth, a psalm of David.” To my words give ear, O Lord, have regard to my mediation.
2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto you will I pray.
Listen unto the voice of my loud cry, my King, and my God, when unto thee I pray.
3 My voice shall you hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto you, and will look up.
O Lord! in the morning do thou hear my voice: in the morning will I set in order [my prayer] before thee, and 1ook up with hope.
4 For you are not a God that has pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with you.
For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: evil cannot abide with thee.
5 The foolish shall not stand in your sight: you hate all workers of iniquity.
The arrogant cannot stand up before thy eyes: thou hatest all workers of wickedness.
6 You shall destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will detest the bloody and deceitful man.
Thou wilt destroy those that speak lies: the man of blood and deceit the Lord abhorreth.
7 But as for me, I will come into your house in the multitude of your mercy: and in your fear will I worship toward your holy temple.
But as for me—in the abundance of thy kindness will I enter thy house: I will bow myself down before thy holy temple in the fear of thee.
8 Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of mine enemies; make your way straight before my face.
O Lord, lead me in thy righteousness because of those that regard me enviously; make straight before me thy way.
9 For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open tomb; they flatter with their tongue.
For there is not in their mouth any sincerity; their inward part is full of deception; an open sepulchre is their throat: they flatter with their tongue.
10 Destroy you them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against you.
Condemn them, O God: let them fall through their own counsels; for the multitude of their transgressions cast them down; for they have rebelled against thee.
11 But let all those that put their trust in you rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because you defend them: let them also that love your name be joyful in you.
Then will rejoice all those that put their trust in thee; for ever will they shout for joy, when thou protectest them: and then will exult in thee those that love thy name.
12 For you, LORD, will bless the righteous; with favour will you compass him as with a shield.
For thou wilt bless the righteous, O Lord; as with a shield wilt thou encompass him with favor.
