< Psalms 114 >

1 When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language;
Alleluia. In exitu Israel de Aegypto, domus Iacob de populo barbaro:
2 Judah was his sanctuary, and Israel his dominion.
Facta est Iudaea sanctificatio eius, Israel potestas eius.
3 The sea saw it, and fled: Jordan was driven back.
Mare vidit, et fugit: Iordanis conversus est retrorsum.
4 The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs.
Montes exultaverunt ut arietes: et colles sicut agni ovium.
5 What ailed you, O you sea, that you fled? you Jordan, that you were driven back?
Quid est tibi mare quod fugisti: et tu Iordanis, quia conversus es retrorsum?
6 All of you mountains, that all of you skipped like rams; and all of you little hills, like lambs?
Montes exultastis sicut arietes, et colles sicut agni ovium?
7 Tremble, you earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob;
A facie Domini mota est terra, a facie Dei Iacob.
8 Which turned the rock into a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters.
Qui convertit petram in stagna aquarum, et rupem in fontes aquarum.
