Proverbs 31
1 The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.
૧લમૂએલ રાજાની માતાએ જે ઈશ્વરવાણી તેને શીખવી હતી તે આ છે.
2 What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?
૨હે મારા દીકરા? ઓ મારા દીકરા? હે મારી માનતાઓના દીકરા?
3 Give not your strength unto women, nor your ways to that which destroys kings.
૩તારી શક્તિ સ્ત્રીઓ પાછળ વેડફીશ નહિ, અને તારા માર્ગો રાજાઓનો નાશ કરનારની પાછળ વેડફીશ નહિ.
4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
૪દીકરા લમૂએલ, દ્રાક્ષારસ પીવો તે રાજાને શોભતું નથી, વળી “દ્રાક્ષાસવ ક્યાં છે?” તે રાજ્યના હાકેમોએ પૂછવું યોગ્ય નથી.
5 Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
૫કારણ કે પીવાને લીધે તેઓ પોતાના નિયમો ભૂલી જાય છે, અને દુઃખીઓને નિષ્પક્ષ ન્યાય આપી શકતા નથી.
6 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
૬જેઓ મરવાની અણી પર હોય તેને દ્રાક્ષાસવ અને જેઓ દુભાયેલા હોય તેને દ્રાક્ષારસ આપ.
7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
૭ભલે તેઓ પીને પોતાની ગરીબીને વિસારે પડે, અને તેઓને પોતાનાં દુ: ખો યાદ આવે નહિ.
8 Open your mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.
૮જે પોતાના માટે બોલી શકતા નથી તેઓને માટે તું બોલ અને તું નિરાધારોના હક માટે સહાય કર.
9 Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.
૯તારું મુખ ઉઘાડીને અદલ ઇનસાફ કર અને ગરીબ તથા દરિદ્રીને માન આપ.
10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
૧૦સદગુણી પત્ની કોને મળે? કેમ કે તેનું મૂલ્ય તો રત્નો કરતાં વધારે છે.
11 The heart of her husband does safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
૧૧તેનો પતિ તેના પર પૂરો વિશ્વાસ રાખે છે, અને તેને સંપત્તિની કોઈ ખોટ પડશે નહિ.
12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
૧૨પોતાના આયુષ્યનાં સર્વ દિવસો પર્યંત, તે તેનું ભલું જ કરે છે અને કદી ખોટું કરતી નથી.
13 She seeks wool, and flax, and works willingly with her hands.
૧૩તે ઊન અને શણ ભેગું કરે છે, અને ખંતથી પોતાના હાથે કામ કરવામાં આનંદ માણે છે.
14 She is like the merchants' ships; she brings her food from far.
૧૪તે દૂરથી પોતાનું અન્ન લઈ આવનાર, વેપારીના વહાણ જેવી છે.
15 She rises also while it is yet night, and gives food to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
૧૫ઘરનાં સર્વને માટે ખાવાનું તૈયાર કરવા તે પરોઢ થતાં પહેલાં ઊઠી જાય છે અને તેની દાસીઓ માટે દિવસભરના કામનું આયોજન કરે છે.
16 She considers a field, and buys it: with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.
૧૬તે કોઈ ખેતરનો વિચાર કરીને તેને ખરીદે છે, પોતાના નફામાંથી તે પોતાને હાથે દ્રાક્ષવાડીઓ રોપે છે.
17 She girds her loins with strength, and strengthens her arms.
૧૭પોતાની કમરે તે ખડતલ અને ભારે ઉધમી છે, તે પોતાના હાથ બળવાન કરે છે.
18 She perceives that her merchandise is good: her candle goes not out by night.
૧૮તે પોતાના વેપારના નફાનો ખ્યાલ રાખે છે; તેથી રાતભર તેનો દીવો હોલવાતો નથી.
19 She lays her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
૧૯તે એક હાથે પૂણી પકડે છે અને બીજે હાથે રેંટિયો ચલાવે છે.
20 She stretches out her hand to the poor; yea, she reachs forth her hands to the needy.
૨૦તે ગરીબોને ઉદારતાથી આપે છે; અને જરૂરિયાતમંદોને છૂટે હાથે મદદ કરે છે.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
૨૧તેના કુટુંબના સભ્યોને માટે તે શિયાળાની કશી બીક રહેવા દેતી નથી, તેના આખા કુટુંબે ઊનનાં કિરમજી વસ્ત્ર પહેરેલાં છે.
22 She makes herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
૨૨તે પોતાને માટે બુટ્ટાદાર રજાઈઓ બનાવે છે, તેના વસ્ત્રો ઝીણા શણનાં તથા જાંબુડા રંગનાં છે.
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.
૨૩તેનો પતિ નગર દરવાજે આદર પામે છે, અને દેશનાં મુખ્ય આગેવાનોમાં તે પ્રતિષ્ઠિત છે.
24 She makes fine linen, and sells it; and delivers girdles unto the merchant.
૨૪તે શણનાં વસ્ત્રો બનાવીને વેપારીઓને વેચે છે અને તેઓને કમરબંધ બનાવી આપે છે.
25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
૨૫શક્તિ અને સન્માન તેનો પોશાક છે. અને તે ભવિષ્ય વિષેની ચિંતાને હસી કાઢે છે.
26 She opens her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
૨૬તેના મોંમાંથી ડહાપણની વાતો નીકળે છે, તેના જીભનો નિયમ માયાળુપણું છે.
27 She looks well to the ways of her household, and eats not the bread of idleness.
૨૭તે પોતાના ઘરમાં બધા કામની દેખરેખ રાખે છે અને તે કદી આળસની રોટલી ખાતી નથી.
28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.
૨૮તે પોતાના ઘરના માણસોની વર્તનની બરાબર તપાસ રાખે છે; અને તેના પતિ તેના વખાણ કરે છે અને પ્રશંસા કરતાં કહે છે કે,
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but you excel them all.
૨૯“જગતમાં ઘણી સદાચારી સ્ત્રીઓ છે, પણ તું તે સર્વ કરતાં ઉત્તમ છે.”
30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that fears the LORD, she shall be praised.
૩૦લાવણ્ય ઠગારું છે અને સૌંદર્ય વ્યર્થ છે, પરંતુ યહોવાહનો ડર રાખનાર સ્ત્રીની પ્રંશસા થશે.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
૩૧તેના હાથની પેદાશમાંથી તેને આપો અને તેના કામોને માટે ભાગળોમાં તેની પ્રશંસા કરો.
