Proverbs 30
1 The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the prophecy: the man spoke unto Ithiel, even unto Ithiel and Ucal,
Palabras de Agur hijo de Jace: La profecía que dijo el varón a Itiel, a Itiel, y Ucal:
2 Surely I am more brutish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man.
Yo ciertamente, más torpe de ingenio soy que ninguno, ni tengo entendimiento de hombre.
3 I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy.
Ni aprendí sabiduría: ni supe ciencia de santos.
4 Who has ascended up into heaven, or descended? who has gathered the wind in his fists? who has bound the waters in a garment? who has established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if you can tell?
¿Quién subió al cielo, y descendió? ¿Quién encerró los vientos en sus puños? ¿Quién ató las aguas en un paño? ¿Quién afirmó todos los límites de la tierra? ¿Cuál es su nombre, y el nombre de su hijo, si tú lo sabes?
5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
Toda habla de Dios es limpia, es escudo a los que en él esperan.
6 Add you not unto his words, lest he reprove you, and you be found a liar.
No añadas sobre sus palabras, porque no te arguya, y seas hallado mentiroso.
7 Two things have I required of you; deny me them not before I die:
Dos cosas te he demandado, no me las niegues antes que muera:
8 Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:
Vanidad y palabra mentirosa aparta de mí: no me des pobreza ni riquezas: mantiéneme del pan que he menester.
9 Lest I be full, and deny you, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.
Porque no me harte, y te niegue; y diga: ¿Quién es Jehová? y porque siendo pobre, hurte; y blasfeme el nombre de mi Dios.
10 Accuse not a servant unto his master, lest he curse you, and you be found guilty.
Nunca acuses al siervo cerca de su señor; porque no te maldiga, y peques.
11 There is a generation that curses their father, and does not bless their mother.
Hay generación que maldice a su padre, y a su madre no bendice.
12 There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.
Hay generación limpia en su opinión, y nunca se ha limpiado su inmundicia.
13 There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.
Hay generación cuyos ojos son altivos, y cuyos párpados son alzados.
14 There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.
Hay generación cuyos dientes son espadas; y cuyas muelas son cuchillos, para tragar de la tierra a los pobres, y de entre los hombres a los menesterosos.
15 The horseleach has two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough:
La sanguijuela tiene dos hijas que se llaman Trae, trae. Tres cosas hay que nunca se hartan: la cuarta nunca dice: Basta.
16 The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that says not, It is enough. (Sheol h7585)
El sepulcro, y la matriz estéril, y la tierra no harta de aguas; y el fuego nunca dice: Basta. (Sheol h7585)
17 The eye that mocks at his father, and despises to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.
El ojo que escarnece a su padre, y menosprecia el enseñamiento de la madre, sáquenlo los cuervos del río, y tráguenlo los hijos del águila.
18 There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not:
Tres cosas me son ocultas, y la cuarta no sé:
19 The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid.
El rastro del águila en el aire: el rastro de la culebra sobre la peña: el rastro de la nave en medio de la mar; y el rastro del hombre en la moza.
20 Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eats, and wipes her mouth, and says, I have done no wickedness.
Tal es el rastro de la mujer adúltera: come, y limpia su boca, y dice: No he hecho maldad.
21 For three things the earth is disquieted, and for four which it cannot bear:
Por tres cosas se alborota la tierra, y la cuarta no la puede sufrir:
22 For a servant when he reigns; and a fool when he is filled with food;
Por el siervo cuando reinare; y por el insensato cuando se hartare de pan:
23 For an abhorrent woman when she is married; and an handmaid that is heir to her mistress.
Por la mujer aborrecida, cuando se casare; y por la sierva, cuando heredare a su señora.
24 There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise:
Cuatro cosas son las más pequeñas de la tierra, y las mismas son más sabias que los sabios:
25 The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their food in the summer;
Las hormigas, pueblo no fuerte; y en el verano apareja su comida:
26 The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;
Los conejos, pueblo no fuerte; y ponen su casa en la piedra:
27 The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;
La langosta no tiene rey; y sale junta toda ella:
28 The spider takes hold with her hands, and is in kings' palaces.
La araña, que ase con las manos, y está en palacios de rey.
29 There be three things which go well, yea, four are comely in going:
Tres cosas hay de hermoso andar, y la cuarta pasea muy bien:
30 A lion which is strongest among beasts, and turns not away for any;
El león fuerte entre todos los animales, que no torna atrás por nadie:
31 A greyhound; an he goat also; and a king, against whom there is no rising up.
El lebrel ceñido de lomos; y el macho cabrío; y el rey, contra el cual ninguno se levanta.
32 If you have done foolishly in lifting up yourself, or if you have thought evil, lay your hand upon your mouth.
Si caíste, fue porque te enalteciste; y si mal pensaste, pon el dedo en la boca.
33 Surely the churning of milk brings forth butter, and the wringing of the nose brings forth blood: so the forcing of wrath brings forth strife.
Ciertamente el que exprime la leche, sacará manteca; y el que recio se suena las narices, sacará sangre; y el que exprime la ira, sacará contienda.
