Proverbs 27
1 Boast not yourself of tomorrow; for you know not what a day may bring forth.
Não presumas do dia d'ámanhã, porque não sabes o que parirá o dia.
2 Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips.
Louve-te o estranho, e não a tua bocca, o estrangeiro e não os teus labios.
3 A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath is heavier than them both.
Pesada é a pedra, e a areia é carregada; porém a ira do insensato é mais pesada do que ellas ambas.
4 Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?
Cruel é o furor e a impetuosa ira, mas quem parará perante a inveja?
5 Open rebuke is better than secret love.
Melhor é a reprehensão aberta do que o amor encoberto.
6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
Fieis são as feridas feitas pelo que ama, mas os beijos do que aborrece são enganosos.
7 The full soul loathes an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
A alma farta piza o favo de mel, mas á alma faminta todo o amargo é doce.
8 As a bird that wanders from her nest, so is a man that wanders from his place.
Qual é a ave que vagueia do seu ninho, tal é o homem que anda vagueando do seu logar.
9 Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so does the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.
O oleo e o perfume alegram o coração: assim a doença do amigo d'alguem com o conselho cordial.
10 your own friend, and your father's friend, forsake not; neither go into your brother's house in the day of your calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.
Não deixes a teu amigo, nem ao amigo de teu pae, nem entres na casa de teu irmão no dia da tua adversidade: melhor é o visinho de perto do que o irmão ao longe.
11 My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproaches me.
Sê sabio, filho meu, e alegra o meu coração; para que tenha alguma coisa que responder áquelle que me desprezar.
12 A prudent man forsees the evil, and hides himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.
O avisado vê o mal, e esconde-se; mas os simples passam e pagam a pena.
13 Take his garment that is guarantor for a stranger, and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
Quando alguem fica por fiador do estranho, toma-lhe tu a sua roupa; e o penhora pela estranha.
14 He that blesses his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.
O que bemdiz ao seu amigo em alta voz, madrugando pela manhã, por maldição se lhe contará.
15 A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.
O gotejar continuo no dia de grande chuva, e a mulher contenciosa, uma e outra são similhantes.
16 Whosoever hides her hides the wind, and the ointment of his right hand, which betrayed itself.
Todos os que a esconderem esconderão o vento: e o oleo da sua dextra clama.
17 Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.
Como o ferro com o ferro se aguça, assim o homem aguça o rosto do seu amigo.
18 Whoso keeps the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waits on his master shall be honoured.
O que guarda a figueira comerá do seu fructo; e o que attenta para seu senhor, será honrado.
19 As in water face answers to face, so the heart of man to man.
Como na agua o rosto corresponde ao rosto, assim o coração do homem ao homem.
Como o inferno e a perdição nunca se fartam, assim os olhos do homem nunca se fartam. (Sheol h7585)
21 As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise.
Como o crisol é para a prata, e o forno para o oiro, assim se prova o homem pelos louvores.
22 Though you should bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet will not his foolishness depart from him.
Ainda quando pizares o tolo com uma mão de gral entre grãos de cevada pilada, não se irá d'elle a sua estulticia.
23 Be you diligent to know the state of your flocks, and look well to your herds.
Procura conhecer o estado das tuas ovelhas: põe o teu coração sobre o gado.
24 For riches are not for ever: and does the crown endure to every generation?
Porque o thesouro não dura para sempre: ou durará a corôa de geração em geração?
25 The hay appears, and the tender grass shows itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.
Quando se mostrar a herva, e apparecerem os renovos, então ajunta as hervas dos montes.
26 The lambs are for your clothing, and the goats are the price of the field.
Os cordeiros serão para te vestires, e os bodes para o preço do campo.
27 And you shall have goats' milk enough for your food, for the food of your household, and for the maintenance for your maidens.
E a abastança do leite das cabras para o teu sustento, para sustento da tua casa, e para sustento das tuas creadas.
