< Proverbs 16 >
1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD.
Lèzòm fè lide nan kè yo. Men, dènye mo a nan men Bondye.
2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weights the spirits.
Lèzòm mete nan lide yo tou sa yo fè bon. Men, pa bliye se Bondye k'ap jije sa ki nan kè yo.
3 Commit your works unto the LORD, and your thoughts shall be established.
Mande Seyè a pou l' beni tout travay w'ap fè, w'ap reyisi nan tou sa w'ap fè.
4 The LORD has made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
Tou sa Seyè a fè, li gen yon rezon ki fè l' fè li. Menm mechan an, li kreye l' pou l' ka pini l'.
5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
Seyè a pa ka sipòte moun k'ap gonfle lestonmak yo sou moun. Wè pa wè, l'ap fè yo peye sa.
6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.
Si ou pa janm vire do bay Bondye, si ou toujou kenbe pawòl ou, Bondye va padonnen peche ou yo. Lè yon moun gen krentif pou Bondye, l'ap evite fè sa ki mal.
7 When a man's ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
Lè yon moun ap viv yon jan ki fè Seyè a plezi, Seyè a ap fè ata lènmi l' yo aji byen avè l'.
8 Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.
Pito ou fè ti pwofi nan fè sa ki dwat pase pou ou fè gwo benefis nan fè sa ki mal.
9 A man's heart devises his way: but the LORD directs his steps.
Lèzòm fè plan travay yo nan kè yo. Men, se Seyè a k'ap dirije sa y'ap fè a.
10 A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth trangresses not in judgment.
Lè l'ap jije, li p'ap janm rann move jijman.
11 A just weight and balance are the LORD's: all the weights of the bag are his work.
Seyè a mande pou yo sèvi ak bon balans pou peze. Li pa vle pou yo sèvi ak move mezi nan kòmès.
12 It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.
Wa yo pa ka sipòte lè moun ap fè mechanste, paske tout fòs yon gouvènman se lè li defann dwa tout moun.
13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaks right.
14 The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.
Lè wa a move, atansyon, moun ka mouri! Moun ki gen bon konprann ap toujou chache fè kè wa a kontan.
15 In the light of the king's countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.
16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
Pito ou gen bon konprann pase pou ou gen byen. Pito ou gen konesans pase ou gen lajan.
17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keeps his way perserves his soul.
Moun ki mache dwat fè chemen yo yon jan pou yo pa fè sa ki mal. Gade kote w'ap mete pye ou pou ou pa mouri mal.
18 Pride goes before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Lè ou gen lanbisyon, yo pa lwen kraze ou. Lè w'ap fè awogans, ou pa lwen mouri.
19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
Pito ou mennen ti vi ak pòv malere yo pase pou ou nan separe ak awogan yo nan sa yo vòlò.
20 He that handles a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusts in the LORD, happy is he.
21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increases learning.
Lè yon moun gen bon konprann, yo di li gen lespri.
22 Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that has it: but the instruction of fools is folly.
Moun ki gen bon konprann gen lavi. Men, moun sòt ap toujou sòt.
23 The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, and adds learning to his lips.
Yon moun ki gen bon konprann kalkile anvan li pale. Konsa pawòl li vin gen plis pèz.
24 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
Bon pawòl se siwo myèl. Yo bon pou sante ou, yo dous pou nanm ou.
25 There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
26 He that labours labours for himself; for his mouth craves it of him.
Grangou fè ou travay rèd, paske ou bezwen manje pou ou mete nan bouch.
27 An ungodly man digs up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.
Mechan an toujou ap chache jan pou li fè moun mal. Ata pawòl nan bouch li boule tankou dife.
28 A perverse man sows strife: and a whisperer separates chief friends.
Ipokrit toujou ap pouse dife. Moun k'ap fè tripotay mete zanmi dozado.
29 A violent man entices his neighbour, and leads him into the way that is not good.
Mechan an pran tèt kanmarad li, li fè l' fè sa ki pa bon.
30 He shuts his eyes to devise perverse things: moving his lips he brings evil to pass.
31 The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.
Cheve blan se bèl rekonpans. Moun ki mache dwat va viv lontan.
32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that rules his spirit than he that takes a city.
Pito ou aji ak pasyans pase pou ou fè fòs sou moun. Pito ou konn kontwole tèt ou pase pou ou gwo chèf lame k'ap mache pran lavil.
33 The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD.
Moun tire kat pou yo konnen sa pou yo fè. Men, desizyon an se nan men Bondye li ye.
