Proverbs 14
1 Every wise woman builds her house: but the foolish plucks it down with her hands.
Toda mujer sabia construye su casa, pero la insensata lo derriba con sus propias manos.
2 He that walks in his uprightness fears the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despises him.
El que camina en su rectitud teme a Yahvé, pero el que es perverso en sus caminos lo desprecia.
3 In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
La palabrería del necio trae una vara a su espalda, pero los labios de los sabios los protegen.
4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
Donde no hay bueyes, el pesebre está limpio, pero mucho aumento es por la fuerza del buey.
5 A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
Un testigo veraz no miente, pero un testigo falso vierte mentiras.
6 A scorner seeks wisdom, and finds it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understands.
El burlón busca la sabiduría y no la encuentra, pero el conocimiento llega fácilmente a una persona con criterio.
7 Go from the presence of a foolish man, when you perceive not in him the lips of knowledge.
Aléjate de un hombre necio, porque no encontrarás conocimiento en sus labios.
8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.
La sabiduría del prudente es pensar en su camino, pero la locura de los tontos es el engaño.
9 Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.
Los tontos se burlan de la expiación de los pecados, pero entre los rectos hay buena voluntad.
10 The heart knows his own bitterness; and a stranger does not intermeddle with his joy.
El corazón conoce su propia amargura y alegría; no los compartirá con un extraño.
11 The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.
La casa de los malvados será derribada, pero la tienda de los rectos florecerá.
12 There is a way which seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Hay un camino que le parece correcto al hombre, pero al final lleva a la muerte.
13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that delight is heaviness.
Incluso en la risa el corazón puede estar triste, y la alegría puede acabar en pesadez.
14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.
El infiel será pagado por sus propios caminos; De la misma manera, un buen hombre será recompensado por sus caminos.
15 The simple believes every word: but the prudent man looks well to his going.
Un hombre sencillo se lo cree todo, pero el hombre prudente considera cuidadosamente sus caminos.
16 A wise man fears, and departs from evil: but the fool rages, and is confident.
El hombre sabio teme y evita el mal, pero el tonto es un calentón y un imprudente.
17 He that is soon angry deals foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.
El que se enoja rápidamente comete una locura, y un hombre astuto es odiado.
18 The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
Los simples heredan la locura, pero los prudentes están coronados por el conocimiento.
19 The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
Los malos se inclinan ante los buenos, y los malvados a las puertas de los justos.
20 The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich has many friends.
El pobre es rechazado incluso por su propio vecino, pero el rico tiene muchos amigos.
21 He that despises his neighbour sins: but he that has mercy on the poor, happy is he.
El que desprecia a su prójimo peca, pero el que se apiada de los pobres es bienaventurado.
22 Do they not go astray that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.
¿No se extravían los que traman el mal? Pero el amor y la fidelidad pertenecen a los que planean el bien.
23 In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tends only to destitution.
En todo trabajo duro hay un beneficio, pero la palabrería de los labios sólo conduce a la pobreza.
24 The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.
La corona de los sabios es su riqueza, pero la necedad de los necios los corona de necedad.
25 A true witness delivers souls: but a deceitful witness speaks lies.
Un testigo veraz salva almas, pero un testigo falso es engañoso.
26 In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
En el temor de Yahvé hay una fortaleza segura, y será un refugio para sus hijos.
27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
El temor de Yahvé es una fuente de vida, apartando a la gente de las trampas de la muerte.
28 In the multitude of people is the king's honour: but in the lack of people is the destruction of the prince.
En la multitud del pueblo está la gloria del rey, pero en la falta de gente está la destrucción del príncipe.
29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalts folly.
El que es lento para la ira tiene un gran entendimiento, pero el que tiene un temperamento rápido muestra la locura.
30 A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.
La vida del cuerpo es un corazón en paz, pero la envidia pudre los huesos.
31 He that oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker: but he that honors him has mercy on the poor.
El que oprime a los pobres desprecia a su Hacedor, pero el que es bondadoso con el necesitado lo honra.
32 The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous has hope in his death.
El impío es abatido en su calamidad, pero en la muerte, el justo tiene un refugio.
33 Wisdom rests in the heart of him that has understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.
La sabiduría descansa en el corazón de quien tiene entendimiento, y se da a conocer incluso en el interior de los tontos.
34 Righteousness exalts a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
La justicia enaltece a una nación, pero el pecado es una desgracia para cualquier pueblo.
35 The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causes shame.
El favor del rey es para el siervo que trata con sabiduría, pero su ira es hacia el que causa vergüenza.
