< Proverbs 14 >

1 Every wise woman builds her house: but the foolish plucks it down with her hands.
Omukazi ow’amagezi yeezimbira ennyumba ye, naye omusirusiru eyiye agyemenyera n’emikono gye.
2 He that walks in his uprightness fears the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despises him.
Omuntu atambulira mu bugolokofu atya Mukama, naye ow’amakubo amakyamu anyooma Mukama.
3 In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
Ebigambo by’omusirusiru bye bimuviirako okukubwa, naye eby’abatuukirivu binaabakuumanga.
4 Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
Awataba nte nnume ezirima ebyagi biba bikalu, naye emmere ennyingi eva mu maanyi gaazo.
5 A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
Omujulizi ow’amazima talimba, naye ow’obulimba ayogera bya bulimba.
6 A scorner seeks wisdom, and finds it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understands.
Omukudaazi anoonya amagezi n’atagalaba, naye okumanya kwanguyira omuntu ategeera.
7 Go from the presence of a foolish man, when you perceive not in him the lips of knowledge.
Teweeretereza muntu musirusiru, kubanga tewali by’amagezi biva mu kamwa ke.
8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.
Omutegeevu mugezi kubanga afaayo okutegeera by’akola, naye atalina magezi musirusiru kubanga yeerimba nti amanyi.
9 Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.
Abasirusiru banyooma okugololwa nga bakoze ensobi, naye abalongoofu baagala emirembe.
10 The heart knows his own bitterness; and a stranger does not intermeddle with his joy.
Buli mutima gumanya okulumwa kwagwo, tewali ayinza kugusanyukirako.
11 The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.
Ennyumba y’abakozi b’ebibi erizikirizibwa, naye eweema y’abatuukirivu erikulaakulana.
12 There is a way which seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Waliwo ekkubo erirabika nga ttuufu eri omuntu, naye ng’enkomerero yaalyo kufa.
13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that delight is heaviness.
Enseko zandibaawo naye ng’omutima gujjudde ennaku, era n’enkomerero y’essanyu eyinza okufuuka obuyinike.
14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.
Omuntu atalina kukkiriza alisasulwa empeera emusaanira olw’ebikolwa bye, n’omuntu omulungi naye alisasulwa eyiye.

16 A wise man fears, and departs from evil: but the fool rages, and is confident.
Omuntu ow’amagezi atya Mukama n’aleka okukola ebibi, naye omusirusiru yeepankapanka era teyeegendereza.
17 He that is soon angry deals foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.
Omuntu asunguwala amangu akola eby’obusirusiru, n’omukalabakalaba akyayibwa.
18 The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
Abatalina magezi basikira butaliimu, naye abategeevu batikkirwa engule ey’okumanya.
19 The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
Abakozi b’ebibi balivuunamira abatuukirivu, n’aboonoonyi ne bavuunama mu miryango gy’abatuukirivu.
20 The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich has many friends.
Omwavu alagajjalirwa abantu nga ne muliraanwa we omutwaliddemu, naye abagagga baba n’emikwano mingi.
21 He that despises his neighbour sins: but he that has mercy on the poor, happy is he.
Anyooma muliraanwa we akola kibi, naye alina omukisa oyo asaasira abaavu.
22 Do they not go astray that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.
Abateekateeka okukola ebibi, tebawaba? Naye okwagala n’amazima binaabeeranga n’abo abateesa okukola obulungi.
23 In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tends only to destitution.
Buli mulimu ogukolebwa n’amaanyi gubaako amagoba, naye okwogera obwogezi kireeta bwavu bwokka.
24 The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.
Abagezi bafuna engule ey’obugagga, naye obusirusiru bw’abatalina magezi buzaala busirusiru.
25 A true witness delivers souls: but a deceitful witness speaks lies.
Omujulizi ow’amazima awonya obulamu bw’abantu, naye omujulizi ow’obulimba aba mulimba.
26 In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
Atya Mukama alina ekiddukiro eky’amaanyi, era n’abaana be balibeera n’obuddukiro.
27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
Okutya Mukama ye nsulo y’obulamu, kuleetera omuntu okwewala emitego gy’okufa.
28 In the multitude of people is the king's honour: but in the lack of people is the destruction of the prince.
Ekitiibwa kya kabaka kiri mu kuba n’abantu bangi, naye omukulembeze ataba n’abantu abeera mu kabi.
29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalts folly.
Omuntu omugumiikiriza aba n’okutegeera kungi, naye oyo asunguwala amangu ayolesa obusirusiru.
30 A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.
Omutima ogulina emirembe guwangaaza omuntu, naye obuggya buvunza amagumba ge.
31 He that oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker: but he that honors him has mercy on the poor.
Omuntu atulugunya abaavu anyooma oyo eyabatonda, naye buli abakwatirwa ekisa, agulumiza Katonda.
32 The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous has hope in his death.
Akacwano bwe kajja, omukozi w’ebibi agwa, naye omutuukirivu ne mu kufa aba n’obuddukiro.
33 Wisdom rests in the heart of him that has understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.
Amagezi gabeera mu mutima gw’omuntu alina okutegeera, era yeeyoleka ne mu basirusiru.
34 Righteousness exalts a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
Obutuukirivu buzimba eggwanga, naye ekibi kiswaza abantu ab’engeri zonna.
35 The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causes shame.
Kabaka asanyukira omuddu akola eby’amagezi, naye obusungu bwa kabaka bunaabuubuukiranga ku oyo akola ebiswaza.
