< Proverbs 13 >

1 A wise son hears his father's instruction: but a scorner hears not rebuke.
Ɔba nyansafo tie nʼagya nkyerɛkyerɛ; na ɔfɛwdifo ntie animka.
2 A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.
Nneɛma pa a efi onipa anom no ma no anigye, na wɔn a wonni nokware no kɔn dɔ kitikitiyɛ.
3 He that keeps his mouth keeps his life: but he that opens wide his lips shall have destruction.
Nea ɔkora nʼano no kora ne nkwa so, nanso nea ɔkasa a onsusuw ho no bɛba ɔsɛe mu.
4 The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
Onihawfo pere hwehwɛ nanso onya hwee, na nea ɔyɛ adwuma no nya nea ɔpɛ biara.
5 A righteous man hates lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and comes to shame.
Atreneefo kyi nea ɛnyɛ nokware, nanso amumɔyɛfo de aniwu ne ahohora ba.
6 Righteousness keeps him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthrows the sinner.
Trenee bɔ ɔnokwafo ho ban, na amumɔyɛsɛm tu ɔbɔnefo gu.
7 There is that makes himself rich, yet has nothing: there is that makes himself poor, yet has great riches.
Obi yɛ ne ho sɛ ɔdefo, a nso onni hwee, ɔfoforo yɛ ne ho sɛ ohiani, nso ɔwɔ ahonya bebree.
8 The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor hears not rebuke.
Obi ahonya betumi agye no nkwa, nanso ohiani nte ahunahuna biara.
9 The light of the righteous rejoices: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
Atreneefo kanea hyerɛn pa ara, nanso wodum amumɔyɛfo kanea.
10 Only by pride comes contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
Ahantan de ntɔkwaw nko ara na ɛba, na wohu nyansa wɔ wɔn a wotie afotu mu.
11 Wealth got by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathers by labour shall increase.
Ahonya a ɛnam ɔkwammɔne so no hwere ntɛm so, na nea ɔboa sika ano nkakrankakra no ma ɛdɔɔso.
12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick: but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.
Anidaso a wotu hyɛ da no bɔ koma ɔyare, nanso anigyinade a nsa aka no yɛ nkwadua.
13 Whoso despises the word shall be destroyed: but he that fears the commandment shall be rewarded.
Nea otwiri akwankyerɛ no betua so ka, nanso wɔma nea ɔde obu ma mmara no akatua.
14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
Onyansafo nkyerɛkyerɛ te sɛ nkwa asuti, eyi onipa fi owu afiri mu.
15 Good understanding gives favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.
Nhumu pa de adom ba, nanso atorofo akwan so yɛ den.
16 Every prudent man deals with knowledge: but a fool lays open his folly.
Ɔbadwemma biara yɛ nʼade wɔ nimdeɛ mu, nanso ɔkwasea da nʼagyimisɛm adi.
17 A wicked messenger falls into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.
Ɔsomafo mumɔyɛfo tɔ amane mu, nanso ɔnanmusini nokwafo de abodwo ba.
18 Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuses instruction: but he that regards reproof shall be honoured.
Nea ɔpo nteɛso no kɔ ohia ne animguase mu, na wɔhyɛ nea otie nteɛso no anuonyam.
19 The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.
Akɔnnɔde a nsa aka ma ɔkra ani gye, nanso nkwaseafo kyi sɛ wɔtwe wɔn ho fi bɔne ho.
20 He that walks with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
Nea ɔne onyansafo nantew no hu nyansa, na nea ɔne nkwaseafo bɔ no hu amane.
21 Evil pursues sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repaid.
Ɔhaw di ɔbɔnefo akyi, na nkɔso yɛ ɔtreneeni akatua.
22 A good man left an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
Onipa pa de agyapade gyaw ne nenanom, na wɔkora ɔbɔnefo ahonyade so ma ɔtreneeni.
23 Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for lack of judgment.
Ohiani afum nnɔbae tumi ba pii, nanso ntɛnkyew pra kɔ.
24 He that spares his rod hates his son: but he that loves him chastens him early.
Nea ɔkyɛe nʼabaa so no tan ne ba, na nea ɔdɔ no no hwɛ sɛ ɔbɛteɛ no.
25 The righteous eats to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall lack.
Atreneefo didi ma wɔn koma mee, nanso ɔkɔm de amumɔyɛfo.
