Proverbs 12
1 Whoso loves instruction loves knowledge: but he that hates reproof is brutish.
Terbiye edilmeyi seven bilgiyi de sever, Azarlanmaktan nefret eden budaladır.
2 A good man obtains favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.
İyi kişi RAB'bin lütfuna erer, Ama düzenbazı RAB mahkûm eder.
3 A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
Kötülük kişiyi güvenliğe kavuşturmaz, Ama doğruların kökü kazılamaz.
4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that makes ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.
Erdemli kadın kocasının tacıdır, Edepsiz kadınsa kocasını yer bitirir.
5 The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
Doğruların tasarıları adil, Kötülerin öğütleri aldatıcıdır.
6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
Kötülerin sözleri ölüm tuzağıdır, Doğruların konuşmasıysa onları kurtarır.
7 The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.
Kötüler yıkılıp yok olur, Doğru kişinin evi ayakta kalır.
8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.
Kişi sağduyusu oranında övülür, Çarpık düşünceliyse küçümsenir.
9 He that is despised, and has a servant, is better than he that honors himself, and lacks bread.
Köle sahibi olup aşağılanan Büyüklük taslayıp ekmeğe muhtaç olandan yeğdir.
10 A righteous man regards the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
Doğru kişi hayvanıyla ilgilenir, Ama kötünün sevecenliği bile zalimcedir.
11 He that tills his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that follows vain persons is void of understanding.
Toprağını işleyenin ekmeği bol olur, Hayal peşinde koşansa sağduyudan yoksundur.
12 The wicked desires the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yields fruit.
Kötü kişi kötülerin ganimetini ister, Ama doğru kişilerin kökü ürün verir.
13 The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.
Kötü kişinin günahlı sözleri kendisi için tuzaktır, Ama doğru kişi sıkıntıyı atlatır.
14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.
İnsan ağzının ürünüyle iyiliğe doyar, Elinin emeğine göre de karşılığını alır.
15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkens unto counsel is wise.
Ahmağın yolu kendi gözünde doğrudur, Bilge kişiyse öğüde kulak verir.
16 A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covers shame.
Ahmak sinirlendiğini hemen belli eder, Ama ihtiyatlı olan aşağılanmaya aldırmaz.
17 He that speaks truth shows forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.
Dürüst tanık doğruyu söyler, Yalancı tanıksa hile solur.
18 There is that speaks like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.
Düşünmeden söylenen sözler kılıç gibi keser, Bilgelerin diliyse şifa verir.
19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
Gerçek sözler sonsuza dek kalıcıdır, Oysa yalanın ömrü bir anlıktır.
20 Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.
Kötülük tasarlayanın yüreği hileci, Barışı öğütleyenin yüreğiyse sevinçlidir.
21 There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
Doğru kişiye hiç zarar gelmez, Kötünün başıysa beladan kurtulmaz.
22 Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.
RAB yalancı dudaklardan iğrenir, Ama gerçeğe uyanlardan hoşnut kalır.
23 A prudent man conceals knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaims foolishness.
İhtiyatlı kişi bilgisini kendine saklar, Oysa akılsızın yüreği ahmaklığını ilan eder.
24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.
Çalışkanların eli egemenlik sürer, Tembellikse köleliğe götürür.
25 Heaviness in the heart of man makes it stoop: but a good word makes it glad.
Kaygılı yürek insanı çökertir, Ama güzel söz sevindirir.
26 The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduces them.
Doğru kişi arkadaşına da yol gösterir, Kötünün tuttuğu yolsa kendini saptırır.
27 The slothful man roasts not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.
Tembel kişi işini bitirmez, Oysa çalışkan değerli bir servet kazanır.
28 In the way of righteousness is life: and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
Doğru yol yaşam kaynağıdır, Bu yol ölümsüzlüğe götürür.
