< Numbers 15 >

1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,
Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out], saying,
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When all of you be come into the land of your habitations, which I give unto you,
“Speak to the children of Israel [God prevails], and tell them, ‘When you have come into the land of your habitations, which I give to you,
3 And will make an offering by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, or a sacrifice in performing a vow, or in a freewill offering, or in your solemn feasts, to make a sweet savour unto the LORD, of the herd or of the flock:
and will make an offering by fire to Adonai, a burnt offering, or a sacrifice, to accomplish a vow, or as a free will offering, or in your set feasts, to make a pleasant aroma to Adonai, of the herd, or of the flock;
4 Then shall he that offers his offering unto the LORD bring a food offering of a tenth deal of flour mingled with the fourth part of an hin of oil.
then he who offers his offering shall offer to Adonai a meal offering of one tenth of an ephah [an omer; 2.3 q; 2.2 L] of fine flour mixed with the fourth part of a hin [2.6 qt; 1.2 L] of oil.
5 And the fourth part of an hin of wine for a drink offering shall you prepare with the burnt offering or sacrifice, for one lamb.
You shall prepare wine for the drink offering, the fourth part of a hin [2.6 qt; 1.2 L], with the burnt offering, or for the sacrifice, for each lamb.
6 Or for a ram, you shall prepare for a food offering two tenth deals of flour mingled with the third part of an hin of oil.
“‘Or for a ram, you shall prepare for a meal offering one tenth of an ephah [two omers; 4.6 q; 4.4 L] of fine flour mixed with the third part of a hin [2.6 qt; 1.24 L] of oil;
7 And for a drink offering you shall offer the third part of an hin of wine, for a sweet savour unto the LORD.
and for the drink offering you shall offer the third part of a hin [2.6 qt; 1.24 L] of wine, of a pleasant aroma to Adonai.
8 And when you prepare a bullock for a burnt offering, or for a sacrifice in performing a vow, or peace offerings unto the LORD:
When you prepare a bull for a burnt offering, or for a sacrifice, to accomplish a vow, or for peace offerings to Adonai;
9 Then shall he bring with a bullock a food offering of three tenth deals of flour mingled with half an hin of oil.
then shall he offer with the bull a meal offering of three tenths of an ephah [three omers; 6.9 q; 6.6 L] of fine flour mixed with half a hin [5.2 qt; 2.4 L] of oil:
10 And you shall bring for a drink offering half an hin of wine, for an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.
and you shall offer for the drink offering half a hin [5.2 qt; 2.4 L] of wine, for an offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to Adonai.
11 Thus shall it be done for one bullock, or for one ram, or for a lamb, or a kid.
Thus shall it be done for each bull, or for each ram, or for each of the male lambs, or of the young goats.
12 According to the number that all of you shall prepare, so shall all of you do to every one according to their number.
According to the number that you shall prepare, so you shall do to everyone according to their number.
13 All that are born of the country shall do these things after this manner, in offering an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.
“‘All who are native-born shall do these things in this way, in offering an offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to Adonai.
14 And if a stranger sojourn with you, or whosoever be among you in your generations, and will offer an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD; as all of you do, so he shall do.
If a stranger lives as a foreigner with you, or whoever may be among you throughout all your generations, and will offer an offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to Adonai; as you do, so he shall do.
15 One ordinance shall be both for you of the congregation, and also for the stranger that sojourns with you, an ordinance for ever in your generations: as all of you are, so shall the stranger be before the LORD.
For the assembly, there shall be one statute for you and for the stranger who lives as a foreigner, a statute forever throughout all your generations. As you are, so shall the foreigner be before Adonai.
16 One law and one manner shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourns with you.
One Torah ·Teaching· and one judgement shall be for you, and for the stranger who lives as a foreigner with you.’”
17 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,
Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out], saying,
18 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When all of you come into the land where I bring you,
“Speak to the children of Israel [God prevails], and tell them, ‘When you come into the land where I bring you,
19 Then it shall be, that, when all of you eat of the bread of the land, all of you shall offer up an heave offering unto the LORD.
then it shall be that when you eat of the bread of the land, you shall offer up a wave offering to Adonai.
20 All of you shall offer up a cake of the first of your dough for an heave offering: as all of you do the heave offering of the threshing floor, so shall all of you heave it.
Of the first of your dough you shall offer up a cake for a wave offering. As the wave offering of the threshing floor, so you shall heave it.
21 Of the first of your dough all of you shall give unto the LORD an heave offering in your generations.
Of the first of your dough, you shall give to Adonai a wave offering throughout all your generations.
22 And if all of you have erred, and not observed all these commandments, which the LORD has spoken unto Moses,
“‘If you go astray, intoxicated, unintentional sin ·error· and you fail to observe all these mitzvot ·instructions·, which Adonai has spoken to Moses [Drawn out],
23 Even all that the LORD has commanded you by the hand of Moses, from the day that the LORD commanded Moses, and henceforward among your generations;
even all that Adonai has enjoined you by Moses [Drawn out], from the day that Adonai gave commandment, and onward throughout all your generations;
24 Then it shall be, if ought be committed by ignorance without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one young bullock for a burnt offering, for a sweet savour unto the LORD, with his food offering, and his drink offering, according to the manner, and one kid of the goats for a sin offering.
then it shall be, if it was done as an unintentional mistake sin ·error·, without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one young bull for a burnt offering, for a pleasant aroma to Adonai, with its meal offering, and its drink offering, according to the judgement, and one male goat for a habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering.
25 And the priest shall make an atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and it shall be forgiven them; for it is ignorance: and they shall bring their offering, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD, and their sin offering before the LORD, for their ignorance:
The priest shall make atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel [God prevails], and they shall be forgiven; for it was an unintentional mistake sin ·error·, and they have brought their offering, an offering made by fire to Adonai, and their habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering before Adonai, for their unintentional mistake sin ·error·.
26 And it shall be forgiven all the congregation of the children of Israel, and the stranger that sojourns among them; seeing all the people were in ignorance.
All the congregation of the children of Israel [God prevails] shall be forgiven, as well as the stranger who lives as a foreigner among them; for with regard to all the people, it was an unintentional mistake sin ·error·.
27 And if any soul sin through ignorance, then he shall bring a she goat of the first year for a sin offering.
“‘If one person sins ·errs (the standard goal)· that is an unintentional mistake sin ·error·, then he shall offer a female goat a year old for a habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering.
28 And the priest shall make an atonement for the soul that sins ignorantly, when he sins by ignorance before the LORD, to make an atonement for him; and it shall be forgiven him.
The priest shall make atonement for the soul who deviates in mental error, unintentional sin ·error·, for his sin ·err (the standard goal)· is an unintentional mistake sin ·error·, before Adonai, to make atonement for him; and he shall be forgiven.
29 All of you shall have one law for him that sins through ignorance, both for him that is born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourns among them.
You shall have one Torah ·Teaching· for him who does any unintentional mistake sin ·error·, for him who is native-born among the children of Israel [God prevails], and for the stranger who lives as a foreigner among them.
30 But the soul that does ought presumptuously, whether he be born in the land, or a stranger, the same reproaches the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
“‘But the soul who does anything with a high hand, whether he is native-born or a foreigner, the same blasphemes Adonai. That soul shall be cut off from among his people.
31 Because he has despised the word of the LORD, and has broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him.
Because he has despised Adonai’s word, and has broken his order, that soul shall utterly be cut off. His depravity (moral evil) shall be on him.’”
32 And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day.
While the children of Israel [God prevails] were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering sticks on the Shabath ·Intermission· day.
33 And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation.
Those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses [Drawn out] and Aaron [Light-bringer], and to all the congregation.
34 And they put him in ward, because it was not declared what should be done to him.
They put him in custody, because it had not been declared what should be done to him.
35 And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.
Adonai said to Moses [Drawn out], “The man shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall stone him with stones outside of the camp.”
36 And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded Moses.
All the congregation brought him outside of the camp, and stoned him to death with stones, as Adonai enjoined Moses [Drawn out].
37 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,
Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out], saying,
38 Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a thread of blue:
“Speak to the children of Israel [God prevails], and tell them that they should make themselves fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put on the fringe of each border a cord of blue:
39 And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that all of you may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that all of you seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which all of you use to go a whoring:
and it shall be to you for a fringe, that you may look on it, and remember all Adonai’s mitzvot ·instructions·, and do them; and that you not follow after your own heart and your own eyes, after which you use to play the prostitute;
40 That all of you may remember, and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God.
that you may remember and do all my mitzvot ·instructions·, and be holy to your God.
41 I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the LORD your God.
I am Adonai your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt [Abode of slavery], to be your God: I am Adonai your God.”
